CJ:  I agree that it's not a priority, but I thought I would at least plant the idea.  Who knows what might happen the next time you get bored?  ;D

How about characters?  Would GetCharacterGraphic() also be useful?
#2103
CJ:  You got me there :).    I didn't say this was necessarily a good idea, just interesting and kind of cool.  How about using a mouse drag anywhere in the window, where  there were no other interactions defined,  to move?

I suppose the larger point is that there are more of these "gotchas" lurking about, making this more trouble than it's worth.

Compiled GUIOff() without any parameters.  The error message refers to the old InterfaceOff() function instead of the newer GUIOff() function.   This is one of those things that's harder to know about than it is to fix.  Since I have come across it, I thought I would take the time to make note of it for the benefit of all.  :)

I think it would be interesting if there were an option to run
a game (not the editor of course) in  a window, with transparent background, and without the standard windows frame.   I don't know how much trouble it would be to implement this or if it's worth the effort.  Although this is, admittedly, of marginal utility, the cool factor is huge :).

Argentinian,

I have a couple nephews in Bolivia for whom  I am making a CD with AGS and related tools.   Would it be possible to get a copy of your help file(s)  that I could put on a CD for them?

Thanks,
RickJ

Modules, Plugins & Tools / Re:help with cursor

Loeky,  You will need to use the on_mouse_click() event handler in the global script to handle all of the cursor stuff.  So you will have only one cursor mode (mode 6 for example is a  pointer) and you will then have  to resolve what operation will be performed  inside the on_mouse_click() function.

The GUI button's active area doesn't resize when the button is resized using SetButtonPic().

If SetButtonPic() is used to change a button's appearance and if the new graphic is of a different size the mouse-over and click events still use the original button size and not the new one.   It would seem more intuitive, to me, if this area were determined by the graphic used for the "normal" view.

Would it be possible in some future version to have the SetButtonPic() function, calculate and update the button size parameters, whenever it is used to change the "normal" grahic?

1.  You may be able to put buttons on top of the inventory gui.  The normal button graphic would be a transparent rectangle, the mouse over and pressed images would be outline retangles with transparent centers.  Set the buttons up to do nothing and then check to see if the inventory window recieves mouse clicks.  If not handle the button clicks and then select the inventory item yourself.  You will know what slot in the window was clicked by which button was clicked.  The only other thing you need to do is find out where the inventory window is positioned in the list.  I think there is a system variable that holds the index of the first item in the window.

Perhaps  the scope of this new section should be broadened a bit to include other kinds of events in addition to competitions.

As for the possible abuses, this should probably be a read only category for most of us.  Perhaps modreators and directors of sanctioned competitions should be the only ones allowed to post or to start a new thread?    Perhap us commoners would be granted permission to reply to thrreads where appropiate.

I guess I am thinking of something more like a calendar of events and news releases.  I am not sure if that's what everyone else was thinking here or not.  It seems to me that competitions would naturally fit into this categorization.

Well, just some food for thought....

PS.  DG, OTG, let's calm down a bit not get so personal.  Spirited debate shouuld be fun an help us refine or reject ideas.   Please relaize that a critique of an idea is not the same as a critique of the person who had the idea and act accodingly.

Hey Bruised,

I liked it even though I'm old.  8) I liked the black and white look and your appreciation for old things.  Is there going to be a sequel, "Earl Luvs Me", where he comes back from the dead?  I can't wait.  Good work ... ;D

Hey Rat,

On your website you said ...
Quote...But anyway, soon enough, our heroin will become into possession of...
I think you meant heroine not heroin.  :)

heroine - female hero to make you safe

herion   - drugs to make you high

Don't you hate spelling errors...

CJ:  I know I asked this before but an index to the different sections would be very useful.   When answering questions in the beginners forum, it would be nice to be able to post a link to the relevant part of your tutorial.  I believe the last time we discussed this you indicated that you wanted to spend your time doing the tutorials first and then make the index; a very wise and logical position as always.  :)

What I am wondering is if it would be feasible for one of us to compile an index and provide it to you in a useable form?  If not then how about if we put such an index in a sticky post in this forum.   If you wish, I can do the work just let me know if and how to proceed.
Cheers
