Ah, yes, Byzantine... Damn, how I love that demo... Incredibly atmospheric. Still my all-time most anticipated AGS game, DS...
Finish it, I know you can make it!

And I won't say anything about about TLoLE being back on track this time, as I know someone will make some remark about it. Hah. ;) But yeah, it's been a long while in the making, no doubt about it...

Nice to see all these old screens, anyways... Brings back alot of memories, to be sure.

Hah, ah, I thought I had mentioned that, but I obviously didn't. Heh. My bad.
I have to confess I've always been keeping my distance from von Trier's stuff in the past, though. (don't ask me why, it was just a preconcieved notion about his works, I suppose...) But after watching Riget, I became more and more interested in his other stuff, and realized I'd been a bit too quick to write him off. :)

I've been watching the brilliant danish tv-series Riget("The Kingdom") quite obsessively recently, and it is without a doubt one of the best shows I've ever seen. Incredibly moody and atmospheric; it blends horror, thriller, mystery, drama and comedy all in one, and with one of the best actors of all time, the sadly deceased Ernst-Hugo Järegård in one of the leading roles as the bitter, dane-hating swedish neurosurgeon, and directed by none other than acclaimed danish film director Lars von Trier.
...In other words, this is a good excuse to post some favourite clips from the show:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqvDztUFWLw (The classic opening sequence)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyJHTxtbC1E ("Danish Scum!")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvx0jxW5hi0 ("A faecal hell")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i12FeCTgmy8&NR ("Compulsive lobotomy")

I truly recommend watching it if you can get your hands on it, even if you're not from Denmark or Sweden. :)

Mm, quite funny, although not hilarious. Gave me a few chuckles, though.
If we're gonna namedrop favorite stand-ups, though, I think I prefer Dylan Moran.
He's a bitter, smoking and ranting Irish man, sometimes nonsensical but always extremely funny, methinks.

Hohum, if I can remember it right, I got the following:

- Some dvd's: Blade Runner, a Hasse & Tage-boxset(Swedish comedians/fimmakers), The Third Man.
- A waffle iron.
- A cd: Boards of Canada - "In a beautiful place out in the country"
- A bottle of Jack Daniel's from my brother (Which I actually sold to my father instead, since I'm not very fond of scotch/whiskey myself, and since he said he'd be willing to buy it. My brother didn't mind, though. He admitted that he doesn't like JD's either, but he figured the bottle looked good. Hah.)
- A cozy, Brett Sinclair/The Persuaders-ish bathrobe.
- A sweater + various socks and underwear.

Yeah, Discworld Noir is a wellknown bastard when it comes to running it under XP. Had exactly the same problem myself.
Took me quite while to find the solution, but in the end, what Damien mentions did the trick.
Replace the "tin3_dxd.exe"-file that you get when you install the game with the fixed version from the underdogs. That should do it. Unfortunately, this gives you another bug, which is the fact that you can't load your saved games from the game's main menu, so you have to skip through the intro scenes every time you start up the game, and then load it. A bit of a hassle, but worth it, since you get to play a truly great game. ;)

Mm, as Erenan said, choosing a top five is extremely hard, but I'll give you five favourites, without any ranking.

The last one was the ultimate worst Bond flick ever.

Someone needs to get Moonraker out on video.

Pfah, up until the scenes in Venice, Moonraker is actually one of the better Bond-movies. After that, however, we get motor-driven gondolas, a more tragic than threatening Jaws(which he actually was in the beginning of The Spy Who Loved Me) and go up into space, fighting with rayguns. However, Michael Lonsdale as Hugo Drax is still one of the best Bond-villains, and definately one of the chilliest.

And I have to say that Casino Royale looks like it might be really, really good. Looking forward to seeing it.

I'd say Discworld Noir for it's use of the private investigator-notebook-interface. Each clue you was written down in the notebook which in turn could be discussed with any character in the game and be used on any other clue or hotspot in the game to form conclusions.
(Or just to get funny reactions. Using some of the clues on the mirror in Sapphire's room is hilarious.)
I shan't say that it was the first to use this one, but it certainly was incredibly well done.

Also, it featured an original and well-done "smell inventory"-system, too, which I'm pretty sure hasn't been used neither before nor after it...

Hah, yeah, you were the last one who replied, so it is actually me who's been the lasy asshole, and the worst part is I don't even have a kid to blame it on. ;) Harhar. Started studying journalism now, as well as getting more active with my band, so that been taking my mind away from even trying to get ideas together. But damn, I want to see it finished, I really do, so I know I need to get back to ya on that. I'll try, but newspaper deadlines are a pain in the neck. Arr.

And, yes, DS - Byzantine is still the AGS demo with one of the greatest atmospheres of them all. Played through it again just recently with the hope that there was something I'd missed in it. But there wasn't, unfortunately. Hah. It needs to be finished! ;)

Heyhey, Snake! Long time no see! :)
Looks like you've been busy, indeed... ;) Congratulations, man!
Now get that kid born and raised so we can finish Leitors Edge, eh? ;) (Yeah, like I haven't been a lazy bastard in that department meself...)

Oh well, good to see you around, anyways!

Indeed I am familiar with it. Quite a handy tool when it comes to discovering new music, methinks.

Well, today I'm going to lay down some snappy vocals for our next demo. Weyhey.
Haven't been in total top-shape vocally in a while now, so I hope it will sound all right...
Oh well, just the bass and a couple of guest perfromances left after that, and then it's complete, anyways. :)
Yeah, and the title of the demo is "Vogon Poetry", by the way. (Somebody's got to spot the reference and do a joke about it...)

Mm, I do agree with what the others said - The rose background does make the whole thing way too cluttered, and I would suggest a more simple design, without the background. A simpler, more stylized would probably be better, methinks.

However...

ultimately its purpose is purely functional and singular: getting people to see and remember your name.

...I'd say that depends on what kind of band you play in, actually... ;)

Great bg's, Mordalles. And I have to say that I love the doll on the shelf. ;)
However, I do think that the angle of the staircase looks a bit odd, though. Other than that, it looks great, methinks.

Oh well, just because I recently had a bit of SNES-nostalgia, I might as well tell you about one of the best SNES-games, and indeed best games ever of any console/genre/whathaveyou. Namely, Terranigma.
Being one of the last games ever made for the dear old Super Nintendo, Quintet and Enix managed to pump in some brilliantly good graphics for its time, with some amazing mode 7-animations and an overall high quality to both backgrounds and sprites.

The story starts out pretty typical for your action/RPG's of the time, centering around a teenage kid named Ark, who's a generally mischievous character, making life sour for his fellow villagers in the isolated underworld village of Crysta, until one day, when he opens a door in the elders house which was strictly out of limits, and by doing that also opens a sort of Pandoras box, resulting in freezeing all the other villagers, and is then sent upon a quest to defeat the five towers surrounding the village in order to bring them back to their normal state and save the day. However, that is just the beginning of something much bigger: The resurrection of the overworld; our earth, and all life upon it, from plants and birds to human life, and all the things that come with it: Civilized enlightment, but also corruption and cruelty.Ã,

Not just boasting with impressive graphics/storyline/audio, Terranigma also becomes one of the best games ever beacuse of its incredible gameplay. The real-time-control of Ark is flawless, with not just one, but up to five different ways of attacking, instead of the single-hand-slashing found in Zelda 3, for example. Add that up to a superb inventory/weapons/armor system, which not only makes it incredibly fun to find new weapons and armor, but also adds to the overall feeling of the game.

If I'm gonna name one thing that makes this one of my favourite games of all time, though, I think it has to be the simple fact that I don't think I've been so immensed in any game the way I was immensed in this - Together with Grim Fandango, it's the only game that has made me cry at the end. Now I know there are some other Terranigma-fans on this board(Kinoko and Petteri, if I'm not mistaken... ;) ) but to all of you others who haven't played it, I can only say that it is a must-play.
Truly awesome, in the original meaning of the word. (Not like a hot-dog)

I can only agree totally with what both AGA and Dave said - Discworld Noir is still among one of my favourite adventure games ever. It has flaws, sure, such as the animation loops already mentioned, but on the whole I enjoy it immensly, because of the athmosphere, the dialogue, the music, the storyline, the interface, etc, etc... I don't know, it just appeals to me on so many levels, not only because I'm a huge Pratchett/Discworld-fan.

And I too like the voice-acting ,even though I can understand why you don't - A game where there is basically just four people doing all voices obviously makes for a "Hey, isn't that the same voice?"-situation which might take away from the "realism" and immersion in the game. Personally, I don't have a problem with that, and like the voice-acting throughout all three Discworld-games.

So if you ask me, there's no need for a remake at all, even though a new Discworld game would be very welcome, of course...
