Ah - You are probably right. I'll try and lighten the shading a bit.
And thanks for the tips - They'll come in handy in the future...
I'll also check out that book by Loomis - I've heard about him before, but never really bothered to see what he's done. If I can get a hand on one of his books, I'll buy it.

Heh, I am actually also thinking of using a DW-interface for my next game, but as far as I know, there are no existing AGS games with that particular interface, and I have no real idea of how to myself either... :) The Uncertainty Machine has a Beneath A Steel Sky/Broken Sword-interface, though, which is similar to the Discworld one in some ways.

Good luck with the game.

Hehe, it's fun to look back at your dreams and goals that you had as a kid. When I was really small I wanted either to be a fireman or a car mecanic (So that I could fix my parents cars for free, of course...) but I still don't know why... I suppose that's the usual childhood-dream-cliché...

Later on, when I started 5th or 6th grade, the thought of being a writer first entered my head... I wrote stories in school, at home, I made whole galleries with villians for the "novels" I wrote, and I also did several very witty parodies of popular movies and tv-shows, which probably entertained no-one but myself...  My hero was Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, and a great author, too. I wrote lot's of 007-Fan-fiction, and even though it's really badly done, I can look back on it and laugh to myself...

Later on, I got introduced to authors like Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams, which changed my whole view at books, and the way I generally wrote things. But, the thought of writing for a living stuck in my head anyway, and even now, some years later, I'm still enjoying it - I'm still hoping for a carreer either as an author or as a journalist. Most probably, I'll end up as the latter...

But there are sometimes when I doubt that as well. I love drawing, (Not only on the computer), so I have also considered doing perhaps illustrations for books or something similar, but as long as I'm a better writer than I am an artist, I suppose I'd have to keep it at a hobby-level... ;)

Oh well. It's late. I'm tired and nostalgic. I think I'll go and watch Postman Pat.

Heh, thanks Eric - I liked the first version too, until I saw Loominus version...

And the horns are real - She is a demon, all right. The story will revolve around how she is kicked out of hell for being too lazy and non-evil, and therefore has to create enough havoc and chaos(Probably involving lots of pointy sticks and elderberries...) in out world to be admitted in again...   But that's just the rough idea - I haven't really had any time to develop it any further yet... :)

You might be right about the hair as well - I'm gonna try and change it.

Well, I tried to follow your picture, and managaged to get it to look similar, but still maintain a bit of my own style... Heh. Or something like that, anyway...
Thing is, I made her look a bit too old - My idea was that she was about 18.
Your update looks superb, though.

Wow.
Dude... I'm pretty speechless. I feel very untalented right now - But I'll just say thanks a lot! I'll print your little tutorial-thingie and then try to use it a guideline. Again, thanks! I think I got your points.

Mind if I refer to you as "Art-god" in the future? :)

Heh, thanks for dropping a comment, Minimi!
And I can tell you right now that it's not going to be a worship-satan-game...  So there's no need to panic. ;)  But she will be evil, though. That's for sure... Hehe.

I know her head is too big, that's a bad habit of mine when it comes to drawing people... And a bit like the Coneheads? Uh-oh...  I'll try and make it a bit more realistic.

Well, it's like this - Yesterday, after a long while trying to do something sensible in DXPaint, I finally gave up and resorted to my faithful companion - Ol' MSPaint, where I sat down and came up with a picture:

Now at first, I made it for my current mystery/thriller game, "Trailing Blood", but then I thought "Hey, wouldn't she look great with horns?" and so I added them and then an idea for another game came to me...

I'm not sure about the proportions, but rather I'm pleased with colours and the general look of it. Any comments or thoughts are welcome, as usual. :)

And the title is only temporary, until I think of something better.

Well, even though this is really bad, it was a fun theme - Here it is anyway:

The fear of finding an arm in your glove compartment with your name written on it in blood can never be matched by anything else. Aye.

Hehe, I've also started dabbling in Deluxe Paint, but to no real use so far I'm afraid... ;D

The sprites look good, though - I recognize the characters from some of your previous posts, and personally I think they look better this way, in a lower resolution.  I can't find anything that's really wrong with them.

Yeah, for being your first background in MSPaint, it's really impressive!
You sure are a lot better than than I was when I started out... :)

My only critisism would be that the cardboard box looks a bit akward. It hasn't got a shadow, first of all, and secondly, the white paper/fabric on top of it also looks a bit out of place.

But on the whole, it's a great style and a nice background.
Keep on working, I'd love to see a game looking like this.
#572
Aye, this sounds like something I could need - I haven't been writing on my novel for at least a month now... I'm definately a bit ring-rusty, to say the least... Oh well, it'll be fun anyway. :)

#573
Ben, that's totally brilliant.
But I'm still going to enter this jam, though... ;)

Ah, cool screenshots! I dig the GK interface -  But will there be a dialog-tree-interface similar to the one in GK1 too?

And I had no idea that Larry Vales could play the violin... ;D
#575
Aye, I downloaded it too - It's a dream to play it on the PC, after being used to the Amiga 500-version... God, I hate disc-swapping...  :)
#576
Hehe, that was great, man! ("SlÃ¥ Sig" mÃ¥ste vara en av dom härligaste ljudeffekterna jag har sett pÃ¥ ett tag... :) )
Will you be doing more comics like this one?

I'm a huge fan of the GK-series, so I'm really looking forward to Shadowplay, I can tell you!

1.) Mainly the incredible mix of fact and fiction - How Jane Jensen takes real life facts and mixes with her own plots and characters. In that way you get excitement and a strange, creepy feeling afterwards, when you realize that the voodoo-gods in GK1 actually are worshipped in real life...

2.) GK1 is my favourite, just because the amazing atmosphere that is created by the whole game - The graphics, the music, the voice acting, and as I said before, the incredible plot.  But both GK2 and GK3 are great games, but it's hard to match the feeling I got the first time I played GK1 and watched the intro in St. Georges Bookshop...  :)

3.) Tough question - I like all three very much, but I suppose GK3 is my least favourite, but not because of either gameplay, graphics or story.
I just can't stand the Indiana Jones-ish action-puzzles at the end of the game.  Sadly, that's the only complaint I have about it.

4.) To me it didn't matter. They were so different when it came to their personalities and ways of doing things, that it became really fun to switch between the two.

5.) The action sequenses are the only parts I didn't like. The endings of GK2 and GK3 weren't my cup of tea... And the part in GK1 when you were supposed to get past the police... I could never get the timing right before he came back in... That was a bit annoying too.

6.) Not sure - There were many good puzzles. I can't pick one.

7.) The atmosphere is perfect throughout the whole series - GK2 felt a bit scarier than the others, but I suppose that was because it was done with live actors...  And the only game where the gore/violence actually felt a bit disturbing was in GK3.

8.) I'd say Grace, because she is so well written - She's definately not your stereotypical sidekick-girl with no brains...

Good luck with Shadowplay, man!

Hehe, looks like you enjoyed yourselves a lot! I still regret that I wasn't able to attend...
That photo of Mods and the plastic spoon was really disturbing, though... :)

Well, like Iqu, I've been practicing with my band, and I actually just returned home from a demo session. Went quite well, although only one song was recorded - Without bass... Bah. We'll have to add that the next time, when our bassplayer has returned...
We also added funky reverb-effects and ice cream-truck-echoes to my voice. Heavy. :D

Besides that, I'm not doing much - Listening to "Solitude" by Candlemass right now.

And I also did a bit of backgrounding for the game too... Almost forgot that one... Phew...
