Heh - "The Devil Sign" (Don't know the real term for it) is commonly used by fans of Heavy Metal to say "Rock on" as cpage said. And I suppose I am one of them... Hehe.

But there are of course different meanings of it. (Had no idea that it meant "I Love You" for example... Cool... ;D )

Whee, feels nice to host a Background Blitz for the first time.
Allright, the theme for this week is a novelty shop (Oh, you know, like the ones in MI2 or Discworld 2...) filled with bric-a-brac and curiosities. The odder, the better... ;D

Size: 600x480
Colours: Unlimited

OK, get cracking!

Yeah, I agree - I really like the plot, but a screenie or two wouldn't be wrong... ;D
Good luck, man!

Snake, the stuff looks excellent - I managed to get some small ideas down last night and sent it to you. Hope you like it.

And this whole story mapping thing has got me inspired too - I think I'll do somthing similar when planning my next game... Hehe... ;D

Hey, thanks everyone for the helpful critisism!

Sasha:
I always get the placement of eyes/nose/ears wrong somehow... Bah... But I will try to fix it, though. I fixed the hairline already, so that's one problem out of the world... ;D
And if red is the colour of evil women, then be it! We have a very evil woman among our midst... (Quake in terror, everybody!)

Stickieee:
More colourful? Well, isn't red colourful enough? No, I think I'll keep it the same coulour, but maybe brighten it a bit.
Yikes, don't know if I'm capable of changing the shape of her head now without screwing everything up... Hehe... We'll have to see...

Ben:
Wow! That's great! I have already changed her a bit, but now I got some new ideas... Thanks! I'll add another highlight for sure.
I redid the nose as well, but it's not exactly smaller... I'll keep on trying, and I'll post when I feel satisfied... ;D
And I might use this style - Not sure. I have some other ideas as well.

Hey, thanks for the tips - Shading is hard when using pen and paper, and doing it with a mouse on a computer isn't making it easier...
But I appreciate you taking the time to try and help me! Thanks a lot!

Ah... Nicely, nicely. I will unzip and check it out asap!

Well, as Andail says, you get used to most GUI's after a while, and while both the classic LEC verb-box and verb-coin are great, my absolute favourite has always been the Discworld/Broken Sword one:
Left-click: Interact
Right-click: Look

Simple, effective and easy to learn. I'll definately use it for my next game... ;D

Yeah, Dorcan is right here - Just modify the first version slightly, no need to do a new one. Open his eyes or add a more lively facial expression. He looks a bit like a sleepwalker right now. ;D
Both versions look great, though - But the older one just fits better.

Ok, right now I'm a real Manga/Anime-period, with the Neon Genesis Evangelion Theme running constantly in Winamp, and a raging Rouroni Kenshin-fever, so I've finally taken up drawing manga again. Thing is, my scanner is busted for the moment, which means I can't scan my drawings, so therefore I got the idea of doing some purely computer-made manga-pictures instead... And to be honest, the first couple of attempts looked like crap, but now I'm finally getting the hang of it:

I may even make a game in this style if I can succeed in doing the bodies as well... ;D
What do you think?

Slamgrinder:
No, I didn't think that you drew the picture, I just thought it was nice. ;D
Yeah, I'd love to see them - PM me.

Neole:
Thanks! Glad you think so.

And, to enhance your surfing even more, here's a new update on the picture. Not sure if there's much improvement, but at least it's something...

Argh - What can I do other than agreeing with everybody else? This looks fantastic! I love the graphic style, the plot is interesting, and if I get free chocolate and money too, what is there to complain about?
Besides, when you have a Monkey Island-styled map, what could go wrong?

Finish it, for god's sake! ;D

Hi and welcome, Minimi! I think the plot sounds really interesting - Being left alone and all that. All that reminds me about though, is one episode of the norwegian comedy show "Fleksnes"... Hehe... Sorry.
Anyway, keep on working on the game, and good luck!

And in some ways you might say that I'm an atheist, but I'm always quite interested and fascinated in different religions, folklore and beliefs.
So I never mind games based around these themes! ;D

Hey, thanks for the useful tips! I'll try and see if my shading will improve it... ;D

Slamgrinder:
Heh, cool. Is it an old game or pretty recent?

Lots of nice entries, but Necro's is my favourite. The goldfish gets my vote... ;D

Thanks, both of you! ;D
Never heard of Jet Set Radio, though. Something worth checking out?

I'll send you Joey from "Joey The Rocker" if you want. Hehe.
#679
I don't know why, but the name Washer Dan Doyle popped into my head.
Maybe because he looks like he's wearing a washing machine... ;D
Nice idea, though - Could be a good game.

Wow... Gil - That's one hell of a sprite! Amazing! Nice that she's doing the devil-sign too... ;D Hehe.

Here's mine:
