Critics' Lounge / Park picture (Edited)

Ok, I've been doing some artwork for my upcoming game, and started with this one yesterday:

Edit:
Ok, changed a lot now - Added some bushes,(Not too sure about the berries, though...) drew some clouds, two buildings, made some branches on the trees, made the mountain higher, placed the bench closer to the screen, and did some flowers to round things off... ;D

What do you think? Better or worse?

Yeah, I thought of 2001 too, not only because of the picture, but also because of your avatar text... ;D
Looks very good, I might add.

Yeah, I agree. The first one looks better.

I think someone mentioned it a while ago, but well spotted anyway! ;D

And another thing: I am still in great need of someone who is willing do the music. N3TGraph will probably do some, but I need more...
Anyone?

There are many talented directors out there, but I have my small assembly of favourites...

Alfred Hitchcock - Love almost everyone of his films, especially "Psycho", "Suspicion", "Rear Window" and "Spellbound".

Akira Kurosawa - Mostly his Samurai-films. ("Yojimbo", "The Seven Samurais", etc...)

The Coen Brothers - Perhaps two of the best film-makers today... Love both "The Big Lebowski" and "O Brother Where Art Thou?".

Yeah, I heard something like that too - In fact I read this incredibly stupid article by Blackie Lawless(W.A.S.P) where he said he supported the war totally, and that their religion was wrong, and that "My god will kill their god" among other pretty dumb things. He also mentioned that their new album probably would be used in the war during battles, to scare the Iraquis until they retreat...
Um... Way to go, Blackie?

Hm, perhaps your'e right - I doubt that Zeppelin will sue, but Metallica probably would... I'll see what I can do...

Oh, wow! Incredible background! Reminds me a whole lot of FoA, but perhaps even better!
I can't think of anything constructive to say - It looks perfect to me. If this is from a game you are currently making, I can't wait until it's finished... ;D

Hehe, I remember Willy Wonka... There was an animated show about it when I was a kid, I think... ;D
I don't need it, but thanks anyway!

Netmonkey:
Hm... That's one idea, I suppose... Never though about that one... Thanks!

wOoDz:
Well, I just did mine using ordinary Paint. I'll try to mess around with it a bit, and see what I'll come up with.
BTW; your GUI looks really cool! Marilyn Manson-font, right?  ;D

Hm... All right, here goes...

"Dr Fred recommends that you eat two bowls of Tentacle Chow every day, for that shiny, glamourous skin that everybody wants!"

"KISS - The "We-Promise-Once-And-For-All-That-This-Will-Absolutely-Be-The-Very-Last-"Last Kiss"-Tour! Buy tickets now, while you still have got the chance!"

"The infamous AGS-cult finally caught after years of on-line terror! Read all about it in the Daily Spam!"

Critics' Lounge / GUI up for comments...

I've been trying to get a nice variation of the LEC-GUI, and this is what I've come up with so far:

Any suggestions on how to make it better? I know it's no masterpiece... ;D

Oh, so you just place all the talking animations in the same view, like with the walking animations? Argh, and I made separate views for them all...
That does explain quite a bit...
Me stoopid.  Will try again.

Thanks, Scummy!
#794
Ah, thanks! ;D Always nice with Discworld-fans...

You can? Doesn't he just say that he refuses to drink any more alcohol in the game?
Or is my memory going?

Yeah, I knew about The Colour Of Magic, and I actually downloaded the thing and played it with a spectrum emulator, but I didn't get very far...  Obviously I didn't know the book as good as I would like to...

Thanks again for reading and commenting! I have plans on doing another article for the AC, but it won't be about Discworld... Maybe I'll do one about amateur gamemakers?

Yes, I agree with AJA here - I had the same problem for a while.
Take a look at the box that says "import for 640x400 resolution" when you are importing a new sprite.

Ugh - Sorry, Spyros, but that didn't work. I suppose I should re-phrase my question, since it was badly formulated:

What I want to know, is how you change the talking view depending on where the NPC is standing. That is, not just how to make him face the character, but also to change his view so that it runs an animation of the main character talking to his left, right or whichever direction it may be... ;D  I've tried using the "Set character view"-command before I use "run dialog", but that doesn't work.

Sorry for not being clear enough...

Ooh, maybe I will get all excited about this when I think about it, though...  ;D
I forgot that Steve Purcell was still on the team. (I was certain that it was someone else doing the plotting...) If things go as they should, SnM2 will be a great game.

If we can't get Ron, and we can't get Tim - Steve is our last hope...
#799
Does it say so? In that case, I'm sorry - I know that all of his books doesn't take place there...  It must have slipped my mind. Drats.
Anyway, thanks for reading it and pointing it out!

Ok, I just got a mail from Philip Jong telling me that my long-waited article about the Discworld games finally has been published at the Adventure Collective!
It took a long time, but now it's up at
http://www.adventurecollective.com/articles/editorial-discworldgames.htm

Any comments? Boring? Interesting? ;D
