General Discussion / Re:Holy YES-ness!

Well, I'm a bit uncertain about this... Sure, it's Sam & Max, perhaps the funniest pair in gaming history, but it is a 3D-sequel to a phenomenal 2D-game, and that is always a bit suspicious to me...
I'll just refrain from giving a judgement before I've played the whole, mad, rabbit-swingin', car-bombin', loony ride of a game... ;D

But the concept art is another thing. Aroogha. Looks incredible!

Ok, this is probably a simple and dumb question, but I'm want to have my main charatcer turn and talk in the direction of the NPC you choose to talk to. (I.e, turn north if the NPC is north of the main character) Thing is, I'm kind of stuck here.
Should I do something with the dialouge script? Like "set-speech-view NAME X"? I've tried to do something like that, but without success.

...But didn't you... Nah...  Hehe, sorry... ;D

General Discussion / Re:Who do I admire list

Ow, tough one.

Terry Pratchett - Author
For making some of the funniest books ever, and for making me look at things in a different perspective.

John Lennon - You know who he is.
For the same reason as wOoDz stated.

John Cleese - Comedian/Actor
For just being so incredibly funny, and for giving us Fawlty Towers.

Ron Gilbert - Programmer
For helping to develop the point-n-click system that we all love, and for making Monkey Island 1 & 2.

Tim Schafer - Programmer
For continuing on Gilberts Maniac Mansion, and making the sequel even funnier than the original. (And for making all his other LEC-games, of course...)

Jane Jensen - Writer/Storyteller
For being able to twine together facts and fiction and make them come alive in a way that noone else has been able to do quite like her.

The Original Black Sabbath - Musicians
I know this isn't one single person, but I'll just say that the original Black Sabbath has shaped my vision of music, and I'll be forever grateful for it.

General Discussion / Re:top guitar heros
Mon 12/05/2003 17:06:04
Well, most of my musical inspriation comes from all kinds of Heavy Metal, such as Black Sabbath,(Best band ever) old Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Entombed, Slayer, Kiss, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Electric Wizard, and many, many more... So therefore, all my guitar-heroes are mostly from Heavy Metal-groups.

- Angus Young (AC/DC)
One of my first heroes. Don't know why, but his cool style and energy really appeals to me.
- Tony Iommi
The inventor of the doomy, gloomy, and heavy sound that came to represent future metal bands.
- Nicke Andersson (The Hellacopters, ex. Entombed)
This guy is incredible. Not only does he play guitar incredibly good, he's one heck of a drummer, and has a voice that can go from bluesy rock n' roll-tones into deep, Death-metal growls... How does he do it?

And bass players are just represented by two people on my list:
Geezer Butler(Black Sabbath - Still is one of the most amazing bass-players I've seen. I get tired just by watching his fingers in action...) and Clifford Burton(Metallica - May he rest in peace).

Looks nice, but the character does look like a Little Jonny Evil-clone with dreadlocks.

Sorry, but you're quoting the wrong guy there... ;D
I think it was evilfartspace, actually...

Agreeing! It sounds great!
You set the mood very well, and I can imagine someone sneaking around inside an old mansion when I hear "Blue River Walk"... ;D  Reminds me of the music from Broken Sword 1, actually.

And I could actually need someone to do a soundtrack for my game - It's an ambitious project, but with a humourous style.
PM me if you are interested.
(N3TGraph is probably going to do some music, though)

General Discussion / Re:Your idea of Hell

Since I have a bit of a hard time deciding what I truly belive in, (I think alot about reincarnation and things like that) I've never really pictured a hell. Well, when I was a kid, it was the obvious pitch-fork and devils, but nowadays I can't say I have an image of it.
If it is a place where your worst nightmare comes true, though, it would be if you were buried alive, and then having alot of synth-driven music playing all the time. (Not a big fan of Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, etc...)

Hehe, all entries are great this time! I especially like BOYD's Mortal RONbat... ;D
I'm working on something too, but I'll see if I manage to finsih it.

DS, I downloaded and played Byzantine late last night, and I am extremely impressed! This is one of the most moody and atmospheric AGS game i've seen so far!
The music gives me the creeps, which is excellent, and the story is very interesting.
Certainly looking forward for this one!

I'd say the third one, actually.

Just agreeing totally with Igor here. Looks great.

In fact, I'm already mad, you see? You'd better lock me up right now, as a matter of fact. Now. With her.

Yeah, I've started to suspect something like that myself...
Argh. I don't like spam.

Hm, well, you are not alone on this one... I recieve about five mails a day, and they are mostly about penis enlargement, banks, credit cards, making money, or other unnessecary things. But what annoys me the most is that some of them doesn't even contain a "Removal"-link, and if they do, it's most likely that it doesn't work... And there is usually no use adding the adress to the list of spam-mail, because it's always new adresses and the same content.
Ugh...

General Discussion / Re:What are you reading?
Wed 07/05/2003 19:05:59
Yes, I am also a huge fan of Terry Pratchetts wonderful books, and have gone through almost all of the Discworld ones. (Not the most recent ones, The Last Hero and onwards - I'll wait until they are released in pocket size here in sweden... ;D )
I feel really honoured to have met the man at the Gothenburg Book-exhibition, where I got my copy of Good Omens and A Man At Arms signed... Joy! ::)

But besides Pratchett I read a lot of mystery/thriller novels and detective books, such as Agatha Cristie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and of course the Occult Series by Dennis Wheatley... Hehe...

I am also deeply entertained by the swedish author Bo Baldersson, who has been writing and publishing books under that pseudonym since 1968. And still, noone knows who he really is for certain... His books are basically ordinary murder mysteries, but with an outstanding and extraordinary sense of humour. The main character - The City Council(Don't know how to translate this correctly, his name is just referred to by his title - In swedish: "Stadsrådet") was elected to this title just because he had shoes that were too big, and is more amused by drinking lemonade and solving murders than he is of national politics...
By his side is the old schoolteacher and his brother-in-law: Adjunkt Persson; who unwillingly gets to follow and write down his crazy investigations...
Currently reading "Stadsrådets Klipp" by the very same author.

General Discussion / Re:Best Humour
Wed 07/05/2003 18:42:49
Well, there are a lot of things that really makes me laugh. Monty Python is one of them, which probably isn't much of a surprise to anyone here...
To be honest, most of my best laughs come from British comedy series: Fawlty Towers, The Young Ones,(Superb show - If you haven't seen it, do give it a try! Perhaps even more addictive than Python!) Red Dwarf, Big Train, Goodness Gratious Me!, and Bottom. (Although it is not nearly as good as the others, I still enjoy its rather crude humour very much...)
I'm sorry to say that I don't find american comedy shows as funny as british, but there is one that I really like - That 70's Show. Great music, great and original jokes, and some superb parodies and guest-actors... (The Halloween-episode with the Hitchcock-theme was amazing.)
Animated series such as Simpsons, Futurama and South Park are also sources of big laughs... ;D
And just like mats, I also have some Swedish favourites, which probably will be unnessecary to mention here...

If we are talking books, Terry Pratchett makes me laugh - All the time.
I've never read any other books that can make me laugh so hard.

Well, I do prefer 2D games, mainly because I feel that they have much more charm and an overall nicer feel to them, but I can enjoy a 3D-adventure too, if it is really well done.

GK3 was really good, due to the fantastic 3D-environment that you were able to roam around in.
Grim Fandango is one of my favourite games of all time(I only just recently realized that DOTT is a wee bit better...) because it had all the atmosphere and charm that my favourite 2D-games have.
EMI, though... I don't know, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. The graphics weren't bad - on the contrary,  but you just couldn't help comparing it to the other MI-games, and therefore I dislike it more than other 3D-games.

To summarize it, 2D is the best in my opinion.
(And I would have loved to see Grim Fandango in a CMI-cartoony style! Imagine that!)

Well, I've been thinking about doing a talkie version of the game, but I'll just try finishing it as soon as possible first... If I decide that I'll make one, you are most welcome to be a voice actor! ;D
