hi all,

i have an conversation loop, which i want to break, when i reach 5x times.
but i when i trace 5x times in the
function dialog_request
how can i controll the dialog topics?
for example I have this dialog

option 1 = "hallo"

@S  // dialog startup entry point
return
@1  // option 1
run-script 5
return

in the function:
if(xvalue == 5)      {
   
   
    xtimes++;
   if(xtimes == 5)   {
               here comes the point, how can i controll the dialog from this point?
               }


   }

yes, this is the point, thx :)
its a little bit confusing, if someone (like me) dont know that.
Cause when you click on inventory items - item -interaction - game - display a message, the message box apeares and show all messages for the room which currently is loaded.

I have sort it out a little bit.
I guess it relates to the inventory objects.
It only happens with these.
Sometimes when i go to the inventory items and klick interaction, assign an command like display a message - all messages are away - the box is empty.
Then i go to a room select a hotspot and press interaction, the messages are here.
In the game i have this behavior: if i start in my first room, all seem normal, i can look at inventory items, interact with them, combine them, but when i start in another room, and i try to look to an inventory item i get this error-message:

Error: DisplayMessage: Invalid message number to display

which is not my fault, i guess

Hmm its not easy to trace. i use 261beta5 and 800x600 32bit.
The messages appear and disappear (and this is the good thing, cause if they are gone forever, im in suicidal mood)
When I start the game from the first screen all seem normal, if I start in another room and i want to look at an inventar item, the game chrashes with the an error message.
And in the editor, all messages are missing.
Then I start an old save from the game and there are also all messages gone.
Then I start all new and load different games with different ags versions and go nuts, at once the all here again.
Dont know, I will finish this game until tuesday for the mags-contest, then I have more time to locate this, hopefully it makes the game not buggy.

What does the compiling routine?
Take only used stuff, or all included in the agsfile for the *.exe?

For this time i make it the easy way and let the player pass the door, same time he opens it, cause i run out of time for the mags contest.

@strazer: that dont works for me, cause i have renderbackgrounds, and if i remove the door complete i get wrong shadows.

@stuh505 how can an if statment look for an hotspot.
the idea with the region, is the same as with the walkable area i cannot reach it behind the object.

Im working on an mags game with 800x600 and 32bit and i guess it will be very huge.
my next one would be in 640x480 i guess.
on the other hand, 320x200 games will run on slower machines, but not on new ones ;).
I use a 19' TFT which cannot display correctly this resolution.
the minimum is 640x400.

problem is: how can i acces an area which is under an object?
for example i have an closed door, with interact i can open it and restore a walkable area,
i can script it in one rush to go trough and in the next room, but  i dont want this.
The problem is, when the open door is an overlaying object, i cant acces the walkable area behind.
The opposite with an open door in background and a closed one as object is also not satisfying,
cause i have a 2 sheets on the door, so i have 3 hotspots on the door - is it possible to set hotspots on an object?

i have a parking meter as walk behind area.
and after paying i would turn an object on in front off the meter, but cant see it.

thx, theres much to know about windows, i guess.
im accustomed over years that windows never can help, so i didnt thought in that direction.

but my desktop get wired, everytime i use it.

one suggestion for objectplacing:
control object with arrow-keys, or type the coordinates in, cause to fit the exact right place for an overlaying object with the mouse, isnt very comfortable for a friend of alcohol  ;)

the game is short, nobody can make a very long game in 20 days (except one without a job:).
I will hurry up, and hopefully need only grammatical corretions and not a full translation.

thanks, i thought it works like the defined ones, @overhotspot@ @scoretext@,
but that dont works with normal variables, so i have to use display instead.
access roomavariables from outside is not possible, you say.
