"Its so quiet here, you could hear a pin drop"  Well, why do you think that dialogue was said??? Look around on the floor....

Also......Have you xrayed the red coat hanging in the hallway near the office?  Maybe that cigarette can be used for other purposes?

You wont be able to use the machine yet until you do many other things in this game, which I don't think you have done yet.  Have you found the ring? If not, you are not at the point of using the machine.

I know what you are going thru.  This part drove me crazy until someone on this forum told me to do lots of saves while doing this.  No, you don't have to give the spider a bug. You just have to do what you are doing.......
High speed on the web until the spider comes out.
tap the boxes and the shelf randomly, when you finally see the spider moving, put the carrot on slower speed and go to that top right hand web near the top of the tube and he should appear there.  then tap again on the tube, and make sure you put something on the bottom of that tube to catch him.  Lots of luck, It took me so long also........I almost gave up at this point.

I had whiskey but when I heard that cry in the woods and went to save her and we got back to my room, the whiskey disappeared and magic potion appeared in my inventory instead.  Is this suppose to happen?  Now I cant make the potion for the dog.  The bar is closed.

There are lots of hints here in this forum to questions you are asking.  Please go to page one and select all to see the answers to questions other people have asked.

also to answer your immediate question:

fly and cigarette:  Have you gotten into that locked room yet in the basement next to the laundry bin?  That is where you will need something to lite your cigarette along with something you will find on the floor of the 2nd floor.

Ring:  Have you found the office key yet?  You will find something there that will enable you to find the ring

Hoop:  You will not get this until you find the ring and give it back to the girl who lost it.  She will be so excited that she will run to the girl playing croquet and then she will be gone from there and you can get the hoop.  But you have to do something with the hoop after that to make it usable.

Hope this helps you out.  It is a great game.  Just look for the answers in this forum.  We have all asked the same ones you are asking also.

did you jump on the bed yet?>>>the rusty key will work on the doors..... shut the two doors first, and lock them with that key, they go into the larger door and shut it.  put the cigarette on that door you just went into......It will cause lots of smoke and the fire sprinkler will go off.

You need to find the key yet to get into the office....Or did you use the cigarette yet to find that key.....Remember fire can melt things to get at them.... Have you been near the office yet? Have you really looked at that red coat hanging there>>>?

What you need to find the thing that will allow you to find the ring is in the office.

you have to break the cup first before you go back to the bar for a refill.  Go to that little island over the rope bridge and use the axe.  Then go back to bar and ask for refill.  The bartender will go to the back and then you can switch the dice.
