There has been a couple posts referring to this issue. I'm sure he's aware of it.
No need to PM him since he'll be browsing these threads anyway and it won't get to his attention any faster. Also with AGS being open-sourced, someone else might fix it.

Yes, I understood your idea of having roomID[] being the numerical order. I just think roomID[] would make more sense to have it access the rooms in the non numerical order while room[] would act in numerical order just as object[], hotspot[], etc, currently work. It only made sense to me.

Edit: Actually I think I'm the one who's confused. Your method seems to be the better method. I guess I didn't see the Game.roomID

My bad. :P

It's an issue with Windows 7 and AGS. I believe it's being looked into.
Hit Shift to have control over the Escape key again.

Wouldn't it be possible to have two pointers, where:
Code: ags
roomID[301].Object[4].Visible = false;

and
Code: ags
room[1].Object[4].Visible = false;

Could actually point to the same thing?

Free access to all room elements from within any room. Objects, Hotspots, Walkable areas, Regions, etc.

Eg:  room[2].object[4].Visible = false;

That would definitely be very nice. That way you wouldn't require the needless global variables and such just to turn off an object for another room, or whatever element you're doing.

Of course though, you'd run into problems with room numbers not being in numerical order.

Yeah Galen, some respect please!
LOL  ;D

If you didn't do anything to rename the file and the changes are strictly room based, meaning you change the script in a room but nothing changes in game from the previous build. Go to Build -> Rebuild All Files.

This has happened to me once before where changes to room scripts and such wouldn't change in game.

As Armageddon says, I agree. Definitely darken the gray around the stars. Right now it gives it that army camouflage pattern.
Much improvement though, the planet and overall feel is much less hi-res. The only thing now is that gradient around the sun, but it's alright.

Excellent video, gameboy. I enjoyed that.

What I would really like to see is the [code] to look more like AGS. With proper colors and such for strings and integers. etc. Blue for the If's Else's While's, etc.

That would be the icing on the breast for me.

I wouldn't say there is anything wrong with 3d and 2d. It's just that the space background is way above your average color count of the two backgrounds. It looks like it's an actual photo while the other two have the MSPaint look to them.

Oi. I think I remember what I had done.

I Defined a value that was equal to the amount of InventoryItems, and on GameStart I had it check whether Game.InventoryItemCount was equal to the Defined value. If it wasn't, I aborted the game.

It was much better than an unfriendly crashing glitch or having an array with an arbitrary value of 1000 or something.
#1133
I did read that part in the manual. But like I said.. I was 90% certain I had done it before because of a thread I made about how I couldn't use Game.InventoryItemCount to define the indexes in an array struct. But then ended up figuring it out... Or maybe I found another solution. Now I'm trying to remember what it was that I did (this was a year ago. lol).

Oh well. Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

I could've sworn you can make a dynamic struct array? I'm 90% certain I had done it before.

Code: ags

struct sTest {
  Character *theCharacter;
};
sTest test[];

function game_start()
{
  test = new sTest[Game.CharacterCount];
}

Results in the error: cannot create dynamic array of unmanaged struct

The government was tired of swamp creatures attacking citizens. The lamps were to eliminate the darkness, but they failed because it created shadows and we all know that evil creatures love dark shadows.

Oh wait. No. There aren't any shadows at all. Maybe that's why it looks like a flat scene. :P

Well, if you have a mouse you 'should' be able to disable the touchpad. Some laptops, like mine, have a button to disable it. Or you can do it through the Pointing Device settings.

Anyway. I think this thread has reached its expiry. I do feel Studio3 is quite annoying with his trivial questions and farfetched ideas, but he definitely is improving -- ever so slowly. If you're tired of helping him, just do what I do, and ignore his help threads. We don't need another entire thread about how he should improve his grammar or reread his posts. Etc. Etc.

I do understand the stress you guys are going through with trying to help him, yet he constantly shows that he doesn't understand. How he tries to fix an error in the code you guys give him. But it was only an error because he messed it up. Then tells you "It didn't work at first, so I've commented out half the lines and it seems to work now". Resulting in something completely different than what he wanted and something prone to errors.

But seriously. Just ignore him if you're tired of him. Please. I'm tired of these threads and it does kinda feel like you're picking on the slow kid because he can't grasp something we can all easily understand (I'm just as guilty. I've done this to him too).

Meh, I've once had some hacker charge over $10k on my Visa card. Visa phoned my cell and put a lock on the card. I couldn't use it again until they sent me a new card. The charges were canceled and insured (even though I never had an insurance package for theft).

I wouldn't worry at all unless your credit card doesn't have the theft insurance. I don't know if it's still standard or not.

[..] but also set as the WalkTo point of the currently selected hotspot.
Well, honestly, there should be a button to the side of the WalkToPoint on side pane that acts just like a color picker in a paint program, and when you click a spot in the room it'll make that point the new WalkToPoint.

At least it doesn't have mint! :P

I'd be more tempted to eat that than I would a mint center covered in chocolate. The combination of the two result in an unbelievably horrible flavor. Actually, to me, it's similar to putting sugar in your coffee. Sweet and bitter don't work well with me. It's either one or the other, not combined.
Black sugar-free coffee all the way.

I guess most speakers of a less common non-english language that is used in a movie generally find it funny how the movie does it, as most never do it properly.
Kind of unrelated, but I know I don't like movies that are dubbed to English. The lines are so comical and unfitting just because they try to match the words with their mouth movements. Either that, or these foreign movies all have horrible writing. :P

As for the dishes, I used to be unbelievably picky with my food when I was a child. I couldn't even eat a damn hamburger without wanting to gag. It was weird, I remember it being something about how it tasted. Now I can eat practically anything without any issues. I'll try anything once and those dishes look pretty good.

I just can't get past the bitter taste of coconuts and the combination of mint and chocolate. Eww. I'd rather try brains and balls wrapped in intestines before attempting to eat any of that again. :P
