I dunno, $63 doesn't sound stingy to me. It actually sounds quite generous. So don't feel bad.

If I were to guess, lots of people are donating, but just the average $10-20 donation that you'd normally see. Or more since the VP's donations were so damn generous.
They're only advertising the VP's donations because they're quite generous and they also just happen to be in the spotlight of the workers.

And I do agree that if the donations were all visible, I wouldn't be donating at all. I wouldn't want my VP's and coworkers to see that I was too cheap to only donate $5-10 (yes, I'm very cheap; and I find it very hard to donate my money to something I never actually see results in).
I wouldn't want to think people are saying "Let's not promote Ryan, remember when he only donated $10 for that charity?", but obviously they wouldn't (I would hope). :P

What you did was funny, but I can see her not wanting to email what you've donated and the "a 1/16th" saying. Since it may make her look like she's being rude because people might think she's dissing your 'small' donation. Not knowing it's actually what you wrote.

What's with the sporadic choppiness of the lower left side of the map? Did the world have the shits for a moment?

Edit:
The server seems to have lagged out on me. I can't seem to properly connect anymore. I end up in a rock and can't even move back to spawn.
And before I had to leave, it was glitching out, which is why I left in the first place.

Alright. I was bored.  ;D

Too bad the colored cloth wasn't allowed in this alpha version. :( I'd have proper looking color, AA and everything.
He's 64 blocks high, which works out to be the maximum blocks allowed above water.

None of those sound like Callahan's Crosstime Saloon. But man, that game was mighty fun when I was a kid.

I almost enjoyed it more than Monkey Island and Loom.
Almost.

Check this answer out:

And yes, this has been asked numerous times, but each time the title was poorly named.
Or you could look at Khris' code below that post, but I honestly haven't looked through it yet.

This is the reason why there aren't cows!

Damn abductions.

That's why one of the mods should make a chest by the spawn point with tons of compasses in it. :P

(This may be breaking the first golden rule, but I don't know where else to post ???)

That's what this thread is for: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=29796.0

Also, welcome to the forums.

Obviously though, no one here is drawing 149,000 sprites per game loop. But now we know that if we don't have any alpha channels, just use the pink instead of saving it as a transparent image.

It will definitely help keep the frame rates lower.

I hear you, Icey.

The guys over here at my office have been watching you for sometime now.
If you don't know, I work for Square Enix as a production manager for the Final Fantasy team. We've been impressed with your talent and perseverance as an indiegame maker.

If you're interested, we would like to setup a meeting with you. We have a project in the works that may need someone of your skill and attention. I can't talk about this here since it's a public forum but if you call +1.310.846.0400 and ask for Mark Anderson. He'll arrange the transportation and flight to Los Angeles, address 6060 Center Dr Ste 100, plus expenses for your time.

Thank-you.

Interesting experiment. So when you say the sprites were identical, does that mean even the alpha sprite only had 100% opaque and 100% translucent pixels [..]

Yep.

This:

Alright, so I decided to test this. Using two identical sprites at 100x100. Except one has pink and one with alpha.

I tested them each drawing them on the background surface 149,000 times in a loop.
The alpha did it in 29 seconds! The one with pink does it in 8 seconds!  I ran these multiple times getting the same times.

So yes. Pink is actually much much quicker than the alpha transparency, oddly enough.

ALSO.. I noticed that there is nearly ZERO difference between doing this:
Code: ags

  while (i<149000)
  {
    DrawingSurface *surface = Room.GetDrawingSurfaceForBackground();
      surface.DrawImage(x, y, sprite);
    surface.Release();
    i++;
  }

And this:
Code: ags

DrawingSurface *surface = Room.GetDrawingSurfaceForBackground();
  while (i<149000)
  {
    surface.DrawImage(x, y, sprite);
    i++;
  }
surface.Release();

With it grabbing the drawing surface once rather than whatever cycles the while loop does. I was totally wrong.

In the options you can set the difficulty to peachfull. That way you won't be attacked at all.

I like peaches.  ;D

Well, moving thread, the man died this afternoon.
I can't begin to fathom what kind of legal actions will be taken. I'm terribly sad today.

There was a security camera aimed in his direction while he was working. I happened to watch the recording and I can't stop thinking about it. I can't stop thinking about how simple of an action he was doing, and he's now dead.

The man was leaning over to move some styrofoam trays on the top shelf. His ladder rocked sideways, and with him trying to catch his balance he fell over and landed flat on the ground with his head taking some heavy damage.
The sad thing is that he was in so much shock that he didn't process the blood or injury. He went right back up the ladder, put the styrofoam trays away that he fell with. Then he put the ladder away and shortly after that he started to faint.

I bought the game cartridge from ebay just over a year ago because I used to play it for a few moments on my cousins house.
Once it came in the mail, I played it for a few hours and stopped. I keep meaning to get back to it.

So yes. I would play your fangame.

Oh moving thread, this has been such a poor poor day.

First I wake this morning to find out the butcher at my father's grocery store has fallen off a small ladder and busted up his face. He was rushed by helicopter to the nearest city for brain surgery because he was bleeding into his brain (whatever the technical term is). The man is 70 years old, too hardworking and stubborn to retire, and he is possibly going to die. That's pretty shitty.

Then with all the stress on my father with this recession and him fighting to keep the business afloat, and now with this incident being the icing on the cake. He's going to sell the store.

Half a year ago I quit working at the sawmill I had been at for a little over 5 years just to come back to the store to help him out. Now I know I'll have to start looking for a new job. His little nest egg will not be passed down to me.

To top things off, I'm signing papers to finally finalize the purchase of a brand new house. Do I still sign the papers, moving thread? Or do I play it safe now with the knowledge that I may not have a well paying job in a few months and not sign it?

It's been a poor day, moving thread.

And I just absolutely love the blue and orange rating cups and disclaimer icons in the games page that I made. It's been so long since I've visited  that new layout, I forgot about them.

Just note that there is an on screen limit of how many characters AGS allows per room. I believe it's 40, but it could be 50. I can't remember. It's been a year or so since I discovered this, and have gone to using drawing surfaces since for making non adventure games.

Calin,

Now I understand what you have said is a joke.
However I'm still slightly offended that you think an anus is moist enough to soften an italian made bread stick!
Italian bread sticks are NOT sick pieces of soft bread that cling to the moist arse of society.

Oh wait.. I forgot the smiley.
