You lazy so and so, just draw your own shadow!  Just kidding  :=
Lol.
Yeah it's so horrible that I actually make a second GUI just for the shadowed button, since the button moves around.  So yea, I guess there is still a solution but definitely not the most desirable.

There weren't any black outlines on the animations that I can recall.

Stop asking for things that are minor inconviniences!

Alpha channels damnit ALPHA CHANNELS!

I always get distracted by the shiny thoughts in my mind too.  Ooh how I'd love the alpha channels.  GUI's are half supported and are riddled with issues, they don't work like layers in a paint program whatsoever.  Or I just can't figure the bloody stuff out.

I've used a 32 bit background with alpha channel on the GUI like you're supposed to, and I still can't have a button with a shadow (alpha channel) that works properly.  It would definitely be nice to know if I'm just doing it wrong somehow.

Looks excellent.  I wasn't expecting someone to make a banner which looks this good, and all I can say is I'm glad someone did!  :P

Me as well.  McCarthy stutters during each room change on my 1.6GHz Quad Core laptop with what I imagine has onboard sound.

Lmao Mods!  I couldn't stop laughing.

MrC, I've read this thread over again and I do not see where you're getting this "picking on Harg" impression.  Most comments were about Google and quite civil, or just mild jokes that weren't even really directed at Harg or CQ.  It was mostly Harg being hostile and overreacting, which can obviously result in unwanted comments - but nothing that I would deem as an insult or tease.

What you meant to say was: don't start such a bland misrepresenting thread topic and get angry when it goes in a direction you didn't intend.  Also with the message of no teasing or bullying, of course.

The barrels were placed NOT in a random area!!! The area where they were placed is populated (the area is located few meters from the mines entrance)!!! The guy who posted this about the barrels (I don't remember his name) misunderstood the situation at that moment of the game.

Whoever that guy was, he sounds like a real dumbass.  ::)

I'm not sure why you're unable to admit that the barrel was in a pretty random location.  But this isn't the place for that conversation.
On a serious note; quit being so melodramatic, simmer down man.

Also this was just pure gold:
QuoteI'm very touchy about that barrels.

Yeah you're almost better just making your own.  Everyone has their own technique or design.
Like mine for instance is for a strategy game level editor Exactly like the Starcraft editor.  Ignore the programming graphics.  I haven't worked on this in a while, been busy with other games. :P

Also it has fog!  (which will probably never make it, since it 'might' be too laggy)

And I'll probably even play it!  ;)

It's totally relative, for example HHGTG Remake is like more popular than everything AGS built EVAAAAAAHHHHH~!!!!!!!!.

Obviously, even my mum asks when that game is going to be finished - she doesn't even play games, it's that popular!
#1772
Relax man.  Nobody was insulting you, they were just saying that the Google suggestions weren't all that relevant in popularity.

Also who hasn't Googled themselves or something they've done?  I've done it.  It feels good seeing a blog or something with a comment of your game, whether they're saying the game is good or bad, it at least means they played it.  And that's why we make the games in the first place.  To make a game we can call our own, and for that chance that someone will play it and enjoy it as much as we do.

No need to get angry.

Dual, but Calin has else if's, and would work without issue.
It'll check the first one, if it's not lower than 6000, it'll check the second, and so forth.

QuoteLet's give him the benefit of the doubt. He might be a troll, or an idiot, but, at the moment, the only thing I see is a new member who needs help.
I imagine you haven't been around for the past half a year or longer, Nacho.  Because every thread this kid or troll makes is in the wrong section.  Every post he writes is as beautifully poetic as this one.  ::)

He's been given many chances - also if he can't put together a single sentence, especially while asking for help, I'd hate to see a game he would make.  Call me an ass, call me harsh, but that's not the kind of young blood I imagine we're looking for.  I'd rather see the adventure genre die.

Dom buddy, the link you posted for Icey contained lots of words.  Somehow the YouTube video with pretty colors and psychedelic sounds you meant to post a link to was accidentally crossed with that wordy garbage link.

Please correct this mistake.

I'm voting CShelton for the megaman pic.  I couldn't help but laugh at how disturbing it was.
#1778
Definitely.  This kid is going to be famous.

The aspect ratio isn't correct for the screenshot though -  sorry to be picky, but if the site is being revamped it'd be nice to get it right!

I realize you aren't all that keen on storing the screenshots on the site, why not store the thumbnail then?  I just used this guys script to make my buddies photograph website and it works great (I had to tweak it a little to suit my needs though).

It uses ImageMagick and then stores a cached image on the server.  You can also crop the images (which I would probably avoid), but I'd definitely size it by width (320).

Anyway, figured I'd mention it.

Resize to nearest neighbor that way you won't have the AA resizing of Bilinear/Bicubic.

It may have certain side effects where the pupil or such detail may actually be omitted, but it'll certainly do the same with DirectDraw.

edit: but obviously you know how to resize to nearest neighbor, since your posted image appears to be 12x12 pixels - which leaves me confused as to why you posted a scaled down image with the AA residuals of Bilinear/Bicubic resizing.  Or you simply don't like the effects of Nearest Neighbor resizing, which I can understand.
