I know there are several states that don't have a helmet law.  Not sure which ones though, google popped up a few sites.

That's exactly what I do, crimson.  Even my basic of basic sketches will be drawn with the character on screen (about a 1/3 of the size of what it's supposed to be, since a sketch doesn't need to be full size).

I'm sorry to hear about your accident.  Hopefully you're not in any pain still from it.

My father was in a very small motorcycle accident about 5 years ago.  He only broke a few ribs and the rest of the damage was all just bruising and whatnot.  Still though, till this day he can't bend over to tie his shoes without some pain.

Death comforts me more than pain.  Perhaps something is wrong with me? haha :P
edit: Anyway, I'm pretty much just saying that a plane crash to me, sounds much more comfortable.
Same with parachuting over bungee jumping.  I fear heights.  I can't be close to a ledge without getting vertigo sometimes.  I'd be much more comfortable jumping out of an airplane with a parachute, than I would be with a bungee cord wrapped around my legs jumping off a bridge.

I know that we're all going to die anyway, and an airplane isn't any less safe than a car.  If I'm going to die, I'd rather it be in an airplane rather than a head on collision with a car where you'll more than likely die a slow painful, blood gushing death.  Not that I fear either transportation.  I just know I'd prefer an airplane crash over a bad car crash, or even some light crashes where it screws up your back for the rest of your life.  Screw that.  I've got an uncle living in a world of pain cause of a bad car crash years and years ago.  I'm sure he would rather have died.

Have you pm'd lacosaweb, the author?

If you're playing a game and something goes wrong, more than likely the technical thread can't help you--usually only the author can.

QuoteI tried 3 for Back Door Man
Well at least you've gone that extra step to move away from what you're comfortable with.  I completely understand the whole 'comfort' thing.  That 2.7 layout has probably been around for quite some time, I wouldn't know though since I'm fresh blood.  I wouldn't doubt that it's actually even slower for you to make a game with 3*, for quite a while until you get used to it.

I remember a few years back going from an old Paint Shop Pro version to a few versions newer.  I was so angry at the layout, couldn't figure out where anything was.  It took a while to get just as comfortable.
What was even worse, was migrating from PSP, to Photoshop.  Holy crap, I'm surprised I don't have a gigantic ulcer from the experience.  I couldn't do anything in it.  Even making a non-filled circle is time consuming and annoying, but for the rest of the features I'm totally glad I made the switch.

I honestly didn't think there were that many issues with the voice acting.  For a freeware game, I was very impressed.  That is all that matters. :)

But yes, I forgot to mention (as crimson pointed out):
Spoiler
seeing the axe partly on screen (from the groundskeepers sprite) in the final scene. I knew it was part of a character--therefor I completely expected a surprise visitor.

I've used 2.7 long enough to know how much better 3.2 is.  Better layout.  Less clicking.  Newer features.

Plus: I'd rather play a game made with 3.* versus 2.7.  I don't like the 320x240 or 640x320 option--especially for sprites that are scaled, they go all wonky and stupid.  The 2x, 3x, etc nearest-neighbor filtering is so much better.

Perhaps when you saved the image it altered the colors? Have you reopened the image file to see if it's still 255,0,255?

General Discussion / Re: AGS [all versions]

I'm curious why you're collecting all these... is it some crazy AGS fetish?   :-\
Hmmm.. you're not the one who has been going through my underwear drawer, are you? I'm missing my budweiser boxers--the old pair with the hole near the ball sack.

;D

The Rumpus Room / Re: The Game Idea Thread

That reminds me of the game suggestions I made for this video clip:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=30502.msg517146#msg517146

I swear, if I were to make a game with a hand drawn character on paper, it would totally be like that.

Sure, they're alright games and fun to play, but they aren't on my recommendation list cause they aren't really my preferred 'style'.

It's also a series that drags on and on.  When I played the first John Defoe game, I really enjoyed it.  But the rest literally slaughtered what I enjoyed about the first one.  Like seriously, why'd he have to bring John Defoe into 7 Days (the space one).  I would have been completely happy with any other numerous possibilities.  And then 6 Days just goes even crazier with all the zen crap and the tall man. lol  It's like that Family Guy episode segment where Stephen King has run out of ideas for a new novel, then suddenly picks up the lamp on the desk saying "it'll be about a..... Lamp monster! OoOooo!"

I know... I know... I'm stepping all over the games that everyone seems to love and adore so much.  I'm an ass. :P

R: 255
G: 0
B: 255

(It's pink/magenta/whatever lol. Like the background of a GUI if you have 0 as the background color)

I haven't played every AGS game (sadly, not even close to an 1/8 of the games), but all of these are games I have played and completely recommend. I'm probably missing a few titles.

Short length games:
Games by Ben304, they're short and fun (in order of production)..
Also..

Medium Length Games:

Enjoy.

Haha, that's great man. I love it.

I recommend playing any AGS game that has won an award.  It usually means they are of good quality and worthwhile to play.
Unfortunately there are good games that haven't won any AGS awards, for those you'll have find by searching by blue cup rating (which are kindly generated by the review panel--thanks guys!).

See!  I just suck. :P

I actually beat him after a few more tries, but I definitely wouldn't say it's easy.  Perhaps it's mostly because my bullets are so freakin huge that they distract me from enemy fire.

Ooh.  I almost forgot...

A trivial GUI Suggestion:
One thing I would find very useful (if it would be incredibly easy to implement in the editor) would be the ability to do simple math within the programming pane.  I often create a dozen or so buttons in a GUI, then realize that I wanted to add something else on the left or top of all the buttons.  Normally I have to change the Left or Top location of all the buttons, by doing mental math or using a calculator to Add or Subtract a certain width or height.  It would be so nice if I could, for example, change the Left from 185 to 215 by actually typing this in the editor pane: 185+30.

Edit: I guess it would also be useful for sprite numbers and whatnot.

It's only food for thought, but it would be super cool to have and I know I'd use it often enough.  ;D

Don't forget to add a WASD and a 8456 (keypad) control too.  Some keyboards (like my laptop, for example) can't use arrow keys in a certain combination with the space bar. (Like down+left and space. The arrow keys will be ignored and the ship will stop dead)

I played around 10 or so times and still can't beat the boss guy. :P  I either suck, or it's hard.
