EDIT: Ok I think I'm going to have to skip this challenge.  I've been pumping out sketch after sketch with no concrete results.  Or at least nothing I'm proud of.  I just don't seem to have any imagination at the moment.

Evenwolf, I think the facebook thread is: "Asian guys against white dating Asain girls".  As said by Garric1 (1 year ago).
I think they are stupid people who can't take a joke.  The video was great.

Honestly though, if an Asian guy made a video on how to pick up Canadian girls by using--oh let's say--snow shoes; I would get a good laugh from it.  These guys need to relax.

You can more than likely get away without having it, but I couldn't help but notice where the poop hole was. :P lol (the toilet)

Star Trek gets away without showing the 'futuristic' toilet that they couldn't conceive for their shows (why not 3 seashells like in Demolition Man, lol joking!).

Ben for a 3 day game, you've got skill! (can't wait to see LODE)

Only noticed one dialog bug:

Spoiler
it's when you ask the green fella how to open the force field -after- you have been given the 'object' that allows you to open it.  He goes through the dialog of saying he has the 'object' and will give it to you if you do the task for him (meanwhile he already has given it to me, and you've already done the task).

I feel the reason why you are focused to the right is because the large building on the left is completely shown.
Take a look at this, I feel it helps keep the focus more balanced.

I only moved the wip lines to the left a bit and allowed you to see more of the base of the large building.

9 whole days left. :P

LOL Strange Visitor, that new entry of yours was really funny.  At first I had no idea what happened to him until I read how he was carrying the pamphlet with him.  I couldn't stop laughing.  Both of your entries are very creative.

Oh and Dualnames, yes your animation qualifies as a 'teleportation disaster/mistake' (for some reason it's not loading right now, but the other day it was without problems).

Everyone, keep them coming. ;)

Alright, alright I know you've already stated 'conspiracies=bad' but I couldn't help but post.

At work a few weeks ago an employee was telling me how he "believes" (yes, believes.  this is all his outlook on things) that with the downfall of the US dollar, he feels USA will somehow convince us Canadians to merge the USA and Canadian dollar.  Then once that is done and the new unified north american dollar becomes powerful, they'll try to merge mexico.  Then later south america.  AND the REST OF THE WORLD!!! Dun Dun Da!  Eventually with plans to unify all governments.

Now I have no idea about any of this.  I do not follow politics, and I honestly have no idea how powerful a merged Canadian and USA dollar would be, or what affects it may have.

He also mentioned as for the presidential election; he thinks Bush is going to declare a state of emergency/war so he can stay in the game for as long as it takes for him to fulfill this grand conspiracy.

As I said, this is all ideas from my fellow employee.  They might sound stupid, but they did get me to think about it.

EDIT: Wow. While I was typing, ProgZ pretty much just backed up my fellow employee's conspiracy?  Perhaps my coworker read it somewhere and just told me it was his feelings on the matter.

LOL LGM!

First off DarkMaster, welcome to the forums.  Now for your competition post, a quick definition of the word 'animation' would be: general activity and motion.  There must be more than one frame to even qualify as an animation.

If you're interested in trying out your animating skills, I recommend downloading the trial version of Pro Motion (http://www.cosmigo.com/promotion/).  If you have next to little or no artistic skills (as I've noticed from your posts), I would probably start off small.  I don't recommend these competitions for quite some time, get yourself comfortable with animating and drawing first.

If you have any questions regarding this competition, save them for PM's (Private messages.  Please don't flood this competition asking for help etc).  As for learning animating or artistic tips, there are hundreds of tutorials floating around the internet.  Google can be your best friend.

Good luck.

Yeah the 3rd video Mods posted was definitely without a question a microscope with some sort of microorganisms swimming about.  I've seen hundreds of crazy things in microscopes when I took science class many years back in high school.  I remember changing the focus would allow you to see layers upon layers of microorganisms that weren't quite in focus previously.  It's just image trickery my friends.

EDIT: Apparently I was completely wrong.  I had replayed other clips on youtube.  At first I thought this was some hoax footage completely and that it wasn't even from Nasa, rather just some idiot with his microscope.  I later found much clearer footage on youtube showing exactly what they claim it is during the clip "sunlight being reflected off space debris".  Just as MrColossal had explained with the 'Blurfo' effect.  I honestly still haven't a clue why it looks the way it does, like a tube laying flat with no rotation; like you think it would be doing with the cable snapping and all.

Oh well, either way I don't care what the footage is from.
I believe there is other sentient life in this vast galaxy.  But I believe they haven't visited us.  Also to believe there is sentient life that has technology beyond ours is hard to imagine.  How humans have united over the many thousands of years and created verbal and written language, a government, and advanced technology, etc; I find this to be an astronomical fluke in evolution.

Here she be boys/girls!

EDIT: It's still up and running.  Good ol' LGM!  Perhaps the title 'Party Zone' is the reason?

Rules:
A sprite is supplied, with a theme.
Participants must use the given sprite for their animation
Each competition will last 11 days
The starter of each competition will decide on the winner.
The winner, who will decide on the next competition's theme, must also supply a sprite.

Theme: Beam me up Scotty

This is Bob.  He is a test dummy to a new untested teleporting device.
Bob is the first to enter a new feat of human technology.  BUT what he doesn't know is that something IS going to go wrong.
Whether he is mutated into half-human-half-fly,
Or his clothing gets teleported but he is left there,
Or maybe something explodes killing Bob.
It doesn't matter.  I want you to make up the disaster or mistake that happens during Bob's first teleport.  You'll get more points for creativity.

This is the teleporter scene in which Bob first tests the device.
You can also make a cut scene (if you choose to) where Bob teleported to, if the disaster is better shown on the other end of the teleport.  Perhaps his legs are stuck in a road while the rest of his body is above it (like in Space Quest 6).

EDIT: I forgot to mention, no color restrictions.  And if you don't like Bob, you can alter him (just as long as he somewhat looks like Bob still - since I did such a horrible job on his anatomy. it was midnight when I drew him)

The competition ends on May 19 (unless someone asks for an extension).

Gold to Lionmonkey
Silver to Stajp
Bronze to TwinMoon

GET WORKING! :P

I know you've got your own wacky style to drawing, but there were some things that bothered me on the prison block.

You avoided all perspectives on each of the beds (i'm assuming they were double layer beds).
You avoided perspectives on the two walls between each cell.

Things I changed:
I gave you an idea of what width and angles the beds should be on.
-The way they were looking, i couldn't see half of a person laying on them; and they'd also roll into the wall.

I moved the left dividing wall closer to where the lasers would be (following the line of the tiles on the floor) and corrected the perspective.
-The way you had it, an inmate could easily squeeze between the dividing wall and into the other cell.  Especially if your beds were as narrow as they were.

I also added some markings on the one cell wall to give you an idea of how to make things less boring.

I drew the lasers just for an example to show how far the dividing wall was.  (If I were to make a 'laser' type wall for the inmates, I'd put a narrow bar up on the foreground wall.  That way the lasers wouldn't just be there, you could understand where they stop, and where the see-through wall stops.

Some pillows might be nice too, but they are inmates they don't deserve them.

Also other things you could do to make your rooms more interactive, would be to have some air exchange vents and what-not.  You should always give a player something to interact with.

The only notification email I received was the AGS 3.0.1 now available!‏, on April 20.

Thanks Awesome, and everyone!

I'm surprised no one made fun of my 1 frame walk cycle; cut and paste as they hop up and down.  :P

It was worth the many hours spent on making it.  I'd have to say my favorite part of my animation was when Kenny got punched into the inside of car, and he exits the passenger door.  And I also loved my unexpected ending *crunch*.

I guess this means I have to make the next challenge? hmmm
#2695
Nevermind, I managed to finish it even sooner than expected.  And it's still the 1st (my time, and only 8:30pm).

Enjoy.  There's a total of 340 frames.

I'm trying to pump out a big animation, but stickam and the AGS room is slowing me down.
It's a good thing I've got until the 1st of May.  We'll see if GTA4 gets in my way.  Arghhh

When he gets sucked into the game, what will that game world be like?  And what is his goal in the game world?  Every adventure game has a goal.  This one may just be him trying to find out where he is (like the SLUDGE game Out of Order).  I'm just curious.  And I can't really tell you what I think of it unless I know what the game world will be like.

Sounds interesting.  It's been done before, but what hasn't?  What will the game world be like?

This is the most impressive Pixel Art video clip I've ever seen.  It's like a little street fighter game, with zombies, death.  Lots of death.

I think the page says it's 100MB, but it's worth it if you have a good connection.  Took me only a few minutes to download the whole thing.  It would be nice to know the program this guy used to make this.

I had to post the actual image, I don't like clicking on thumbnails   :-\

I'm having a hard time seeing any depth.  There are a few people in the forums that can help by telling you what to do.  But one thing I would try, is to overlap the cloud with the tree.
