MT,
I failed! She was moved to a different department on Thursday. When I went to look for her I couldn't find her!

So then today, Friday, I tried my best to find her when my shift was done, knowing that if I time it just right, she should be leaving the change room as I approach the swipe clocks. There she was! I managed to approach her calmly. She was smiling when she recognized me. She told me where she was working, I asked her a few questions, then finally asked her what she was doing on the weekend. She said she was going to Toronto for the weekend for sight seeing. I then completely failed to ask her if she has time to spend with me; I mostly just assumed on the spot that she was busy the whole weekend in Toronto.

Oh well, MT. I have failed you and mankind. (nod) I'll certainly try again for next weekend which might just be her last weekend here.

I just want to get to know her in a one on one environment. Just so that, years into my future, I never look back on this moment regretting not taking any chances with someone who has apparently put me under some mesmerizing spell. Corny, I know.

That's what that smell is? Damn! I've been licking my lips with my mouth watering, completely baffled and wondering what that was. But why cover yourself in BBQ sauce? Are you a piece of meat? Do you need me to tenderize you? I'll do it. Where did you go?

Ugh. This is the very reason I haven't moved to LUA yet (even though I completely dislike AGS script), I can't stand the "begin" "end" "then" "do" etc, blah! It's so redundant it makes my head hurt.

Humans are hardwired with an evolutionary mechanism to always feel as though we're being watched. It's that very reason when you're alone that you always feel someone is watching you. It's likely the contributing factor as to why humans have instinctively created "God(s)" who all "watch" over them. It's probably also the very reason many people hold onto their religious beliefs because they feel comfortable believing this being watched feeling is someone looking down on them, protecting them.

On a side-note, when I was younger, when I watched the Truman Show, I immediately replaced that "feeling of being watched" with the idea of me being Truman. It made sense to me when I was younger because I ALWAYS had that feeling and never knew why I had it. (I've grown up since then, I promise)

But everything I've ever said in a negative way was ALL directed at Ponch.

MT,
At work, here in Canada, there's 2 Mexican visitors from the sister company in Mexico. We're teaching them how to make and measure a product we make.

The one is a man and the other is a beautiful, intelligent, friendly, small and skinny woman my age. She speaks amazing English (even French!). I haven't personally shown any interest in her (other than the odd stare when she isn't looking, ha!) and her colleague is randomly trying to hook me up with her. She does smile at me from time to time, but it's very likely to just be a friendly smile. I was talking to him one day, told him my age after he asked me and then he immediately said her and I should date. He has even talked to me about her and I marrying. Ha! He even says "She's alone in the afternoons, you should go on a date with her". Unfortunately they're here for 2 more weeks and I'm starting afternoons Monday; basically this weekend is my last opportunity to get to know her.

So he's basically planted a seed in my brain and now she is all I can think of while I work. She's downright distracting and alluring. I absolutely must ask her on a date tomorrow because I feel it's something I'll regret if I don't. The problem is I am not working with her or relatively near her. Maybe 30 ft away on opposite machines. So it'll feel much more awkward to randomly approach her and ask her on a date. But I strongly think I'll man up and ask her tomorrow. I need to do this.

She's wearing these baggy and short white coveralls (which we all have to wear) and she looks downright unbelievable in them. And when she's running the one press she has to stand on a stool! OMG. *drool*. The one day she must've sat down on something in the plant because as she was working, her white coveralls had a dirty bum; as if it wasn't distracting enough.

Argh! Moving thread, why did you make us humans to be so attracted to each other. It's unbearable. :P

It seems to drop a heck of a lot more than it does glide. It doesn't even bounce much afterwards.

Are you looking for a real landing? Like this: http://youtu.be/HmpK4SgI4o4?t=1m

You were thrown on the Mormon bandwagon as a child, and now your brain is stuck on it. The only defining category of Atheism is unbelief in god claims. Other than that, atheists have lots of diverse opinions on all kinds of issues. Your moral compass has a big ass Mormon magnet right next to it though.
The perfect quote! It was exactly what I had wanted to say while reading this thread; but not as poetically as you have - well done.

My argument is that my beliefs make me more good, moral, etc.
Wtf? So you actually believe that your religion makes you a good and moral person but if you would ever ditch it you'd suddenly become less so? Why can't you just accept that you're a good person regardless of your religious beliefs.

One thing that I do need to work on is my personal opinion that people who strongly believe in a religion are less intelligent than those who don't, because of their beliefs. I'll admit to the problem, but it's too hard to let go. I see you Monkey, and I say to myself "He's such an intelligent and logical young man, why is he so blindly holding onto this religion of his, maybe he's not as smart as I thought he was?". But when I see a severely less intelligent person, one who walks around breathing from their mouth, I do not question why they have blind faith in the man-made religions - because this person is clearly dumb. Like I said, it's something I need to work on.

I agree with Crimson and can't fathom why disabling these functions on those particular views would make any sense.

But that would be very handy to have. Frames with transparency/tint options. Within both editor and script.

Hey Monkey, here's your chance to be very useful to me. I posted in your module thread for the TruBlu script. I want the code for getting the true RGB color from an AGS color (instead of AGS's RGB colors). GetTrueColorRGBFromColor. But your download link was broken.

I need this super badly! Thanks

This one often gets missed. It's a very short but impressive game if you're looking for something to inspire you. I personally loved it.
A Cure for the Common Cold

Edit: Yet another inspiring game that didn't quite hit the spotlight.
This Game (which was probably due to its title)

It's terribly easy to implement on your own. For the basic version (for now because I have to go to work) just create a GUI with a label with the text: @OVERHOTSPOT@

Then in function repeatedly_execute_always() do this:

Code: ags
function repeatedly_execute_always() {
  if (IsInterfaceEnabled()) {
    gMouseOver.X = mouse.x + 10; // add your own number here (10)
    gMouseOver.Y = mouse.y + 10; // add your own number here (10)
    gMouseOver.Visible = true;
  } else gMouseOver.Visible = false;
}

That's the very basic version. The label will still go off screen. For a better version you'd have to manually assign the label text, and manually check if the label text width and height is off screen. But that's also VERY easy and I can post later if you're still at a loss.

General Discussion / Re: AGS Kart
Sun 02/06/2013 13:09:21
The only reason this AGS Kart idea intrigued me was for the programming/math challenge. If I start outsourcing my burdens, there goes all my fun. :-\

For the physics of Karts bouncing into each other or walls, I'm at a complete loss to figure that out (a single Kart bouncing into walls, easy! But not with more than one Kart and each being able to bounce into each other. Imagine a Kart pile up against a wall - GLITCH TIME!). It's something I do want to figure out though as a challenge to myself. I never did make Road Racer 2 because of this reason alone, so I might just study, read, and work my way through this.

Man. My post saying it would only take maybe a week was a month ago! There goes that estimation.

Turns out making a level editor (with my obsessively terrible OCD) is a little more taxing than I had expected. I'd love to say soon that you can all see a preview, but even now it's still not drawing the map completely. I've asked Steve McCrea for some programming assistance, but haven't had the chance to implement it just yet as the editor is taking the majority of time. Maybe I should've just made the maps in notepad. Ha!

Multiplied by 100 visitors an hour, that could REALLY stop the server dead. Unless it saves the upscaled image on the server and this PHP script is a one time thing. Either way, it doesn't sound like a good idea.

So it WAS me! I knew it.

@TeitakuCoubri: Holy heck, you ramble a lot! Try to get the point without all that filler text. Even you asking for help or responding to someone is quite daunting and a chore to read.

Anyway, you simply misunderstood and screwed up. My advice for next time, just bite the bullet and simply say it as it was: "Sorry, I'm new to scripting and misunderstood. Thanks for the help, guys".

Also a side-note for future reference. When you post code, use the code format like so (that way we can see it in the color formatting and it's easier for us to help you):

I was mostly just pissy to see the alien remains come to life, then afterwards they all continuously circle around in the room until they merge together. It was the worst scene. I would've been happier to just see them place the skull on the bones, then they somehow piece together the information they learned about the aliens, the place starts to crumble and they escape. The end.

I also wasn't a huge fan of the "stare into the skull and you go mad" shit. It was really odd - but it was livable compared to the ending. The giant ants were fine, same with the tree chopping mobiles, I just didn't like the long distance vine swinging.

Let's hope Disney one-ups Crystal Skull.

With a high res game like Journey of Iesir, the system needed to allow for multiple poses like upper body movement, crouching, and other stuff like that. Having a locked head would generally always be a few pixels off during body animation. The system I created you could move the head in the in-game editor and save the position, then when the animation played in-game it would position it accordingly. Where you could position the head for the whole view, or loop, or even just the single frame if you needed to.
#500
Not just that, it allows you to have facial reactions/expressions in any of these headless poses. It adds a lot of life to the characters. It would be nice if AGS had a built-in system for this as well instead of having to code your own system and using a character for the head (or blending sprites).
