I understand the sentimental appeal, but rationally I don't think there are good reasons why we should try to get people off Earth.
That's likely what people said to the earlier explorers when they went looking for different continents.

Sure we could live underground, but what are we ultimately learning from that? In the bottom of the ocean we discover things each time we go to a new area, and that's basically what living on a different celestial body is about. Which is what the mars rovers are doing, just mostly limited to roving and photos. Or did that one rover with the digging equipment and such actually make it there?

I used to follow NASA on twitter but they would tweet like 40 messages a day with meaningless things. Like 5 messages a day about Angry Birds in Space like that has anything to do with NASA. lol Unless they're trying to use pop-culture to excite people about space or Rovio paid some good money for advertisements.

It's because I dream of a future resembling that of Star Trek. Only because I worry we'll die here on this planet and that will be our sad existence. I want to see us starting to move beyond that mountain in the horizon (space) and spreading out. Not too far fetched though, I'm completely fine with us never leaving our solar system for the next millennium.

I agree we're advancing in our space technology, but it certainly hasn't been as fast as the computer evolution. But now that we have corporations looking into space ventures, it should likely increase much faster.

One thing I've always hoped we'd increase significantly is power consumption vs recharging - which is one thing the computer evolution is helping with. Mobile phones, laptops, etc. Things like solar panels seem quite large and heavy for what they power.

To sum it up, Snarky, I basically meant I just want to see a colony on the moon or mars before I'm dead. Even if it's only 2 people. Stuff like vegetation and water recycling. It would be very cool if there were cameras on it that would stream 24/7 - inside and outside. Do they even have that on the ISS?

Alright since there's only one command per turn (that WHAM operating system is fussy ;)), I say the next turn after we put on the oxygen mask is to look in locker #1.

I'd be shocked if they had an atheist president in the next decade or two. Although he (or she) would be one of the presidents I'd most look up to because he's being honest. I actually look up to Obama because the man seems brilliant - but all that press about his minister saying something stupid during his election was bull. I don't follow much of what he's done over here in Canada, nor have I heard anything bad about him like you would about Bush Jr.

Although I went to Florida in March and I was shocked to see how many bumper stickers were insulting him. Like: "You can keep your 'change' [and a bunch of stuff about money and guns?]" or "Anyone but Obama". Which I felt was quite odd. Is he a bad president or are people there just stubborn or ignorant?

The one reason I would respect someone who's openly atheist is that, as an atheist myself, I almost look at this whole religion belief kinda odd. Like it's the equivalent of believing in fairies. (I know I'll regret that comment) At the same time I respect that people actually have faith in something, but when you think of what it does to some people it's not cool. One random moment with my mother; I once got grounded for a week by saying there wasn't a god to her. How is it that she felt it was appropriate to ground me for something she had believed in when it wasn't what I had believed in.

I doubt there would ever be an openly gay president in my lifetime. But who knows, it could happen.

I also suspect this was his intention as well. No one would be talking about it as much as they have been if all he said was "I propose to build a large spacecraft that houses a nuclear reactor and uses ion propulsion". Nah. It wouldn't have been as popular. Add Star Trek to the design and you've got yourself an exciting conversation and hopes for a promising future.

I agree with Darth that in the past 40 years we should have sent more humans to space beyond the low-earth orbit we're doing. The biggest reason we haven't is they want to return a hero. Every design is to have someone return back to earth instead of living out their lives on the moon or mars.

I want something beyond satellite and ISS related stuff to be done, whether it's asteroid mining, going to the moon or mars, a space elevator, etc, I'd be happy. It's a lonely existence when you start to think about how slow we're evolving in our space flight.

Not sure if I'm correct on this but I believe I read once that a space elevator, if we could manage to build one, would actually slow the planet down ever so gradually? Like how I also read that every few years earth slows down by a single second just because of the moon.

The moment someone creates some kind of cheap electric propellent to send crafts into space, that'll be the most exciting thing to happen to space travel. Whether it's a laser system that launches crafts into space, some kind of electrical propulsion (anti gravity?) or whatever other option. As long as it's cheaper than sending something up by rocket fuel.

I was just hoping the locker had more fuses or those plastic ends Wham was speaking of. With more fuses we could likely get the atmosphere functional in the building.
We still have an air tank, hopefully it doesn't run out anytime soon. We need to hurry.

Also with the game I was describing, having the goal to get from, let's say, New York to LA with a much much smaller scale. Something in a fictional universe would be best though, with boundaries like oceans, large rivers, or damaged bridges. Maybe something similar to the Florida Keys would be best. Which would be easiest to limit you to certain areas without the need for imaginary walls, and the overall atmosphere of the Keys is amazing for a zombie apocalypse. With maybe more of a city element in a few of the small islands with a couple skyscrapers (without the ability to go to every single floor - perhaps the stairs are demolished after a couple floors and of course no power to the elevators). Some houses and such have power as they run generators. If you shut off/damage the generator the people who live there come out to fight.

Being at least 10 years into future after the world is consumed with the zombie virus, but zombies still exist because they don't eat only flesh like you see in traditional stories. They eat everything.

Then with an optional multiplayer friend (or a few friends) would be best. You could both go wandering off in your own path, or stick together. Helping each other in battle, or you searching one side of a street while your buddy searches the other. Challenging each other at finding the best gear or valuables. Also both having your own cars and racing along the bridges connecting the islands or maneuvering through towns. Side swipe your friend's car into an abandoned car or wreck. lol

That's the only reason why I wouldn't want cars because once people get into one and have plenty of gas, you'd constantly have to get in and out, so you'd likely just want to keep driving without stopping. It's a tough call, because I would personally want a car in that game. I wouldn't explore EVERY single house, but I would definitely look.

It should be something like Fallout 3 though, where it's not suburbian hell and there's just a cluster fuck of houses with no hope in hell to search through them all. But with houses that have burnt down, demolished, fell over, boarded up tight (secret entrances). A country side with farms and such would be the best design for a game with cars.

Yeah it's there, you have to be in the Messages section.

Speaking of the PM outbox, not that I'm saying you should work needlessly at this, I've never understood why your sent messages aren't always auto stored unless you specifically delete them. Just like any email service. Instead of manually needing to check the store message in Sent messages check box.

I've also hated how the search was, with the check box, is defaulted to everything, and the sub-forum list is always hidden. Then after you expand the section, if you hadn't clicked the search all check box, it's now located at the bottom. It's only 2 extra clicks, but still annoying.

As for the arrow pointing in which direction is expanded or not, I agree it does look confusing and backwards. Overall I'd prefer to see a plus and minus.

Did my command above get missed, or have you just been busy? Like.. jeeze.. what's the hold up? ;) The programming in this game lags quite a bit. lol

You know what I've only watched a couple episodes of that tv show and the movie. So I'm downloading it right now. The tv show was interesting as all hell when I saw it, I have no idea why I didn't get into it. It's a little late, but I'm going to now.

Another amazing leap in space exploration is the SpaceX commercial rocket that launched today, to rendezvous with the ISS dropping off food, clothing and scientific instruments.

I have always agreed that one day in the far future when we have advanced programmed AI machines, we should create a better "universal" language. Something the machines would create for us by scanning through all the verbal/written languages and what is easiest for us to pronounce, read and verbally distinguish between.

I've always despised many parts of the English language (the only one I know, besides a few French phrases). Too many words sounding similar to each other, or having multiple meanings. Quick example: I got you a present. It's the present time. Turn right here (as someone points left).

Don't get me wrong, there are parts of the English language I love. But if we're going to have a universal language, why should it be English? The only issue is obviously implementing it. Just because you may teach the kids in school the new language, doesn't mean they will actually use it because of the older generations. Then there's road signs, business signs, books, everything. But we're nearly at that point where business signs are all going to be digital displays and books are mostly all digital now too.

The obvious reasons for lots of issues with the English language, or in any language in fact, is slang or ignorance. Just like how Canada still fights back and forth with the metric and imperial because of our southern neighbors and the older generations. We still sell butcher meat in lbs but sliced deli meat in 100 grams. Everyone knows what they weight in lbs. Not many actually know kilograms. We know kilometers and Celsius, but often hear miles and Fahrenheit. We also use liter instead of gallon. Baking is a bitch - half the instructions are metric, the other half imperial.

I kind of deviated from the topic. ;)

I've never dabbled in the SMF forum code for too long (downloaded it to see if I could be of help), but if the code structure is already working, isn't it as simple as checking for the
Code: ags
 then changing the language to match? And yes, the forum code is quite scrambled in their own php scripts, so I understand how difficult it could be.

$geshi = new GeSHi($source, $language, $path);

echo $geshi->parse_code();

Absolutely love that floor. You're getting quite talented Ben.
#755
Code: ags
function repeatedly_execute_always() {
  GUI *theGui = GUI.GetAtScreenXY(mouse.x, mouse.y);
  if (theGui == gYourGUI) {   //make sure  gYourGUI  reflects the name of your GUI
    mouse.Mode = eModePointer;  // or whatever mode you wanted
  }
}

Or if you wanted a more hard coded coordinates approach:
Code: ags
function repeatedly_execute_always() {
  if (gYourGUI.Visible
      && mouse.x > gYourGUI.X && mouse.x < gYourGUI.X + gYourGUI.Width
      && mouse.y > gYourGUI.Y && mouse.y < gYourGUI.Y + gYourGUI.Height) {
    mouse.Mode = eModePointer;  // or whatever mode you wanted
  }
}

Multiple approaches. Enjoy.

Ban her anyway.  (laugh)

Oh dear.. You are definitely correct. I never noticed that it wasn't there before she got there.
I'm just trying to figure out where she got this oxygen tank or why she is unconscious. Or did someone else put here there? No idea.

In a post? It's the one under the (U) Underline button. Or simply the same code as it always has been before we had fancy buttons:
Code: html5

I've noticed there seems to be a glitch with the code coloring. This post has the code commenting after the apostrophe. I tried to do it in here but it doesn't seem to show the issue.

I believe it's using the C# style commenting. Unless this is some kind of one time glitch. Not sure.

Edit: I'm an idiot and didn't notice it was registering all the lines below that accidental quote issue as strings. So it is doing what it's supposed to. Just gets all weirded out once it hits the apostrophe.
