Dual boot system: WInME and WinXP. Use Winme for your old stuff and XP for stability.

You can even get programs that split your PC into virtual machines so that you can use both at once.

I have WinME at home too and it does crash at annoying points, although it seems to be better recently. Eliminating unneccesary resident programs (like Office launcher thingy) seems to help its stability.

OK, here's what to do:

TRY A-V-O's code: it will work and do exactly what you want.

Well, Krynge, it's only just changed recently, so it will take a while for games to be re-voted. Also, isn't there still an indication of the rating from the old system?

Apparently, Voyager 2 found that one of the rings of Saturn has the same spectral analysis as one of the onion rings of CJ. Is this a clue as to the great one's origins, and his benevolent attitude towards enriching of earthling lives?

Here's a possibility for murderer's motive: lots of people on IRC seem to be the kind of people that would happily volunteer to be the murderer: maybe at the start of each game you can say if you want ot be or not. If no-one volunteers, an NPC (maybe need more than one so there is still some doubt) such as the butler becomes the murderer. Now, people might agree on #ags beforehand that no-one wants to be the murderer, but the truly devious murderer will be lying! Obviously, if more than one volunteers, only one is picked, but maybe still a small random chance of it being an NPC.

Pah! no-one seems to have noticed that Eric dies before he is born in my pic... true time-travelling style

Minimi, do you find that the GIMP crashes if you try to save its native format (XCF)? Becuase that's what happens with me every time and I'm fed up of it!

quintaros gets it. Jekyll/Hyde was too vague...

while we're here, Kellerman = RobertEric
ShaZaam = snake
Ghost in Painting = PirateJack/Layabout

Time travellers can of course attend their own funeral:

You'll need to use it in the on_mouse_click function: check if there's a hotspot then run the hotspot interaction instead of the object interaction...

If it's not too much trouble I have two small feature requests.

See what happens when you just say "yadda, yadda", CJ... people start posting feature requests here if you don't tell them not to!

I'd like to be able to set a background picture for a GUI slider, or at least change the color of its border (which now is always white and gray lines)

You mean like CJ just added in beta 3?

Also, it would be nice if you could set a background picture for a textbox GUI. This picture would have to be clipped or tiled to fit the textbox size.

You mean like if you set the background picture of the GUI?

It appears that MoveToWalkableArea (EGO) doesn't work if EGO's coordinates are outside the screen. I have a script that moves EGO outside the screen when leaving a room (i.e. MoveCharacterStraight (EGO, 330, 100, 1); ) so this happens at times.

Gilbert: isn't the point of MoveToWalkableArea that you're NOT on a walkable area?

Some kind soul (Peter?) wouldn't want to re-iterate all the outstanding ones in a single post would they? Maybe a summary of all the people who have already posted and been guessed and all the wrong guesses on outstanding ones too...

Lazy 'ol me.

For those not familiar with Spanish acronyms, OVNI = UFO, btw

Obviously, it is the first sign of intelliegent life in our galaxy (and I'm including earth, here)

By default, RestartGame() take you to the same screen as double-clicking the EXE. If that is your menu, then thats where restart game will take you. Have you actually tried doing this, Remco?

Alynn: that's not my experience, becuase in my game "Alba the Explorer" I just use a RestartGame call and it takes me back to the intro.crm. I didn't use any SetRestartPoint calls.

Yay for view preview and RawDrawImageResized. The two things I wanted most for a while! Now  I can complete my game (yeah, like laziness and lack of time wasn't a bigger factor...)

Yes, it's been 6 months since the last Princess Marian game, as my spare time has been taken up on the Sphinx game, but this Mother's Day, Alba wanted to do something special for her mummy, so with her Art and Voice Acting, I helped her make this game...

For those who haven't experienced a Princess Marian game before: they are short, cute and made with the objective of making my wife smile, so if you think the GFX and/or animation ain't good then tough!Click the screenshot do download the (smaller at 1.2M) RAR file, or follow the zip link below.

or the bigger (1.4M) zip file:
http://www.freeweb.telco4u.net/superscottishhero/albaexplorer.zip

It's 320x200, 16-bit colour with unnecessarily high sample rate sound. And the whole thing was done in less than a week. You can't tell.

The Rumpus Room / Re:Sam and Max Cancelled!
Fri 19/03/2004 12:57:58
You mean "The Emperor's New Groove", which I really liked. Disney are still able to come up with good movies sometimes:

Good:
Lilo & Stitch
Emperor's New Groove
Hercules
Lion King
Aladdin
Beauty and Beast
Little Mermaid

Bad:
Treasure Planet
Brother Bear
Pocahontas
Hunchback of Notre Dame
Atlantis thingy

Generally, I think the only non-Disney traditional animation (but in the Disney style) that met up with the Disney standard was Anastasia. But then I tend to notice characters, style and music more than animation quality...
#4520
You really have 101 views? Wow! Or do you mean sprite number in which case you want SetObjectGraphic instead!

How did you test the room on its own, btw? Do you mean jumping to it with a debug key (CTRL-X is teleport, isn't it?)

Also, in the latest version of AGS yopu can give views names: maybe you could use the view name to make sure you get the correct number.
