Comics, at least IMO, are about the current pose. The more interesting the pose is, the better. A bg would also do wonders.
Try to imagine how you would do this if it were in a movie-like form. What kind of angles would you take? Where does the screen capture the essence/spirit of the whole movie? There are many other factors that can help you in making a good comic.
Oh, and the way you make your bubbles you don't seem to show the viewer if this is the actual text said by the character or if it's just his thoughts.
Eg. the first shot: 'Hmmm...Discovery channel,...blabla...'. I don't know if he said it out loud or just in his mind(The hmm indicates inside but some people tend to think out loud. :)). You can solve it by using an arrow-like...um...arrow for the said text and small bubbles for his thoughts.
Now, for the question at hand: The coloring. Personaly, like I said before, It would look great with a bg but if the style is classy, the bg color would be less saturated, with a mix of gray(gray-green, gray-red,...). The character should not have outlines, or at least have the same color but a darker one for the outline. Also, as Zor said, lees bright is the way to go.

I hope I explained a few things about comic-making and also that you're well on your way making an improved version of your comic.

Here he is, the boss of the Kanji dojo:

Use in an adv. game:

  • Easy to make an idle animation and a talking one, a little harder for a walking anim.
  • can be used as a static sprite eg. on a poster, on a wall etc...

    100X100, 16cols including bg color.

Thanks for the tutorial. I also have PSP10 but I don't use it much. I like GGale better. But PSP is great for FoA-like bgs.

I really love your art. Keep it up! :)

His right hand should be more loose and why does he bend the elbow when he steps? Better remove the elbow and it'll look better.

Ok, this is getting me nowhere. I've tried to impliment your code, Ashen, and failed miserably. So I tried to script myself,...and failed even more. Don't get me wrong, I'm no noob at scripting, but 2.62 scripting is nowhere near the 2.71 scripting. Maybe to most of you it looks easy and simple but I don't think so. So I abandoned the idea of the list box and went for the simple yet effective SCUMM interface which is easier to script(I wanted to script the whole thing myself and not use the template) and guess what, it works now(not the list box thing, SCUMM).

Thank you Ashen and deftonesrule for trying to help me(you probably did but I don't know that :)).

I use 2.71 but still script in 2.62  :-[ Anyway, I'll use the code and get back to you if it works.

Detail makes it look good to the eye. ;) Are you using DPII for this? Back on topic: Maybe try to change the black outlines. Oh and one more thing hit me: the light sources! Eg, the lamp and the windows. don't they emitate a light source, which means you'll need to paint the areas aroung them in a yellowish/orangeish tone. I suggest dithering bbut you can do what you wish.
#115
So, where do I set this code, in the interface_click?
#116
Ok, just as the topic implies: I'm aving problems with the list box. I want the player to be able to see all of his inventory items in a list box. And then, when the item is highlighted, to show it's image on the GUI. How can I do this? I know, a totally noobish question but I want to release my first game, I really do. :) I hope I'm not violating any rules and if this question has been asked before, please direct me to it.

Please, this forum has a bandwidth. Try to restrain yourself from starting pointless topics in the WRONG FROUMS. This thread will probably be locked. Now, to your problem:

Try to be more specific in the future about your problems with AGS, 'need help' isn't enough.
Also, if you need scripting help, this thread is where you must post:

There was a 'Demo quest' but that was not in the original package since AGS2.7..

This is a katana, but for our hero Hirohitsu it is a 'Steel Angel' as this was a gift from the Gods. the weapon itself has a great legacy. It was wielded only by the greatest of warriors and it's power is amazing.

It's useful in a game as an inventory item. Howzzat for ya originality! ;)
