Well...please, please slap me silly for asking this Dave, but do you plan to release an, ahem, walkthrough for Deception?  So many times I have thrown in the towel on great adventure games, and I am determined to finish this one the whole way through...cheats or not!!  Plus, I just don't like missing out on stuff that I could have tried to do, or trying new possibilities that might have given different results/endings.

Soooo...?  This may be the LAST thing on your mind right now as you're just getting the game released, but whenever you guys think of it (or if you already have it!) could you pretty please post it somewhere!  Or email it to sarahewarren@hotmail.com

Thanks for ANY help.  :)

Hints & Tips / Blackwell Deception
Thu 13/10/2011 01:43:05
I am loving this game!  I'm already knee-deep into it but have run into a roadblock.  Any tips on this would be great:

Spoiler
I have just gotten the pendant from (Madison?) Haines's apartment & given it back to Penelope.  Now I'm at Lisa's (the psychic), I've talked to her & sent Joey in to look around, but gained nothing from doing that.  He states that he can't go upstairs because he's floated too far from Roseangela.  So...what do I do next?  Someone mentioned somehing about looking in her mailbox, but it's locked and Joey says it's empty inside anyway. So, what's next??  Total & complete spoilers welcome!!  Help!

Any help would be much appreciated!  

Done in a week??  Yeeeaaahhhh!!!  I have a definate morbid curisosity when it comes to horror games, movies, books, etc.  As I obviously (and who wouldn't?) LOVE your storyline and graphic art, I cannot WAIT to play this game.  At the same time...I am dreading playing it.  If it scared YOU, Wham...well I have a feeling I'll have the lights pretty much on all over the room and will be peeking out between my fingers, whilst temporarily muting the scary music parts.  (It's a necessary Pansy-type thing I have to do with scary movies and games because I have a "jokester" of a husband who gets his kicks out of scaring the crap out of me.  All. The. Time.  I hope karma kicks his ass one day.   :-* )

Anywhoo--I have been following this game since you first posted it on the boards, and as I said, can't wait to give it a try.  Great work, I think you've done an exceptional job from what I can tell.  Looks and sounds like it will be a great game.

I don't mean to duplicate, but I got the exact same error as anian (just fyi), and also cannot load a saved game unless I go through the entire intro again--that is very time consuming.  And, like some of the others have said, the different resolutions on the graphics bugged me...but I can definately get past it.  The gameplay, storyline, and plot are great, and I'm enjoying the game.  Right now my biggest frustration is that I'm stuck...I'm "that" person that always wants the Walkthrough...  ::)

Yaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!  Get this beauty of a game OUT already!!   ;D. Stupid question maybe, but how long does beta testing (on average) take?  Just being very annoying & curious (and very anxious, as you can tell)...

As I think I mentioned before, this game is beautiful and intriguing...reminds me of a King's Quest type game, which is my all-time favorite Sierra series.  I've been keeping an eye open for it for a looooong time--I simply cannot, CAN NOT wait to play it.

Cheers!!

Well, I just submitted my votes, and all of them were positive.  I honestly loved the game--it was an interesting concept of events, & overall I can't complain (and I didn't).  I really enjoyed playing it.  I have no idea why it scored the way it did, and yet no one who submitted low ratings had the courtesy of explaining why they felt that way?  How is a person supposed to make changes or (potentially) improve his work for his his next game if he doesn't know what people want?

Anyhoo--I liked it.  Period.  No complaints here.   ;)

I am a weenie...I know there's a "hints and tips" section but...I am just stuck in general!!   :'(

I am basically stuck walking around having picked up everything that wasn't nailed down, and have found absolutely no way to use anything.  So--call me dumb, call me a cheater...but you say the game takes only about 15 minutes to complete (on a quick run, I know), and even though it's so short...it is absolutely bothering me to NO end that I cannot complete this game.  I do love it, by the way...might be nice to mention that small brown-nosing detail...

So this is my plead....since it's so "short", anyone want to take pity on a frazzled mom with 2 crazy toddlers-- that this game is my saving sanity right now-- to write me a quick walkie-thru??  Pretty please?  With strippers on top?  (Or whatever floats your boat...)

LEON!!  Yes!!!!  Thank you so much!!

As for the game Ben, your games are always lots of fun to play and have great graphics, and this one is no exception.  I'll probably play it through tonight after the kids go down (dang--do I have to be a Mommy first?  Bummer.), and I can't wait!  I always enjoy your games so I know I won't be disappointed.

Cheers!!

:(  I still need a walkthrough.... :o

I will be buying Gemini Rue for sure!  Can't wait for Feb 24th!!!

My question is...I know this is an "adventure game", but is it going to have a lot of action sequences too?  Because that is definately NOT my thing.  It woudn't keep me from buying the game, but I'm just curious to know how much of the game is timed shoot-out type stuff...

Cheers,
Sarah

I am such a huge fan of this series and your work in general Dave--I am literally counting the days until this one comes out.  There's not too many games I can say that about.   ;D

WOO-HOO!!!

I am cracking up, Domithan...I don't usually enjoy watching walkthrough-type stuff on utube but yours was so funny (especially at the intro)...  It was really fun to watch someone else's reactions and opinions of the gameplay, and a LOT of your thoughts echoed my own while I was playing.

Keep making 'em!  Good stuff, I enjoyed it.   ;D

This short little game was astounding, a must-play.  I loved the opening sequence, and I'll leave it at that for the other players.  ;D  And I agree that it leaves things beautifully open for a sequel...  Good job!!
