Dammit! I've already started a game about this, so I can't use that idea :(

Not only that, but one of the inventory items WAS A BEARD!!

Curse you Barbar, and your ironic twist of fate ;)

A bit of a longer one:

"Well done whelp, you have successfully displayed the ability to do what I tell you to do... I like that. My dog does what I tell it to... I like my dog. I should introduce you to each other... Remind me to do that."

Hint:
Spoiler
It's during the training mission  ;)

Not a bad tutorial, although I don't know if the phrase "easy as 1-2-3-199158260" will be taking off any time soon  ;)

That kick ass and chew gum line comes from an old movie starring former pro wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper called "They Live".

And he ad-libbed it. ;D

Yeah, but that movie's more or less a rip off of this video clip isn't it?

Yeah, unfortunately, AGS doesn't have an AI that analyzes sprites and determines position changes automatically. ;)

... Yet

CJ, get to work, you lazy slob! :P

Hmm, I'm not too familiar with this function, but could it have something to do with the parameters of GetAtScreenXY?

I finished Discordance's game in the original version with no problems(albeit the no-save function)... so I don't know whats going on with everyone else  :-\

Just some fun facts about proportions
Quote from: wikipedia
  • The average adult human figure is about 7 to 7.5 heads tall.
  • The idealized human figure is traditionally represented as being 8 heads tall:
1.From the top of the head to the chin
2.from previous position to the nipples
3.from previous position to the navel
4.from previous position to the crotch
        5.from previous position to mid-thigh
6.from previous position to just below the knees
7.from previous position to the middle of the shinbone (the tibia)
8.from previous position to the feet
  • The pubis, or its upper edge, is at mid-height of the average adult figure.
  • The length of the shin is equal to the length of the hip for an average adult figure.
  • When the body stands upright, the length of the arm is such that the finger tips come down to mid-thigh.
  • The arms' wingspan (measured from the tips of the middle fingers) is about equal to the body height.
  • The length of the foot is about equal to the length of the forearm.
  • The eyes are at the mid-height of the head.
  • The head also can be divided into thirds - from the top of the head to the bottom of the forehead, from the bottom of the forehead to the bottom of the nose, and then from there to the bottom of the chin.
  • The head is between four and five eyes wide.
  • The nose is the length of the first two notches (joints) of the index finger(from tip) when measured against the very beginning of the nose bridge to the end of the nose.
  • The height of the face is about equal to the length of the hand.
  • The eyes are separated by a distance of one eye width.
  • The bottom of the nose to the corner of the eye is equal to the height of the ear, to record a frontal portrait
  • The width of the base of the nose is equal to the width of the eye.
  • The width of the mouth is equal to the distance between pupils, or the width of two eyes.

I don't know about Speedfails, but I win at Pagefails because clicking on the 56modern.com link in your sig brought me to a Page Load Error. :( But your Speedfails link works, and from there your main page works. Go figure.

Are there any prizes for winning? :D

That would probably be because the link is to "56modern.com" and the site is located at "56Kmodern.com"

Hmmm <he says with deep masculine voice> Miss-Jay? - Please tell me you're not referencing that - ehm - person from America's Next Top Model.

Never heard of it... must be some cheap foreign knock-off of Australia's Next Top Model. :P

So, no, not a reference to any model/runway coach of any description, and anyway, the way I was emphasising it was heavy on the 'Mis' and almost a silent 'j", so you're in the clear for now.

p.s. none of this really matters though anyway, because this pronunciation only ever existed in my head : P

Well I've been saying Miss-Jay.
It's only when I had to write it that I realised that it's probably not that...
Gee if only there were someone here on this forum who could clear this up once and for all.. :P

It's the Salad Fingers guy, isn't it? :)

I like it when the red water comes out... ;D

Idea: Misj'
Admittedly, I did not see it coming :P
Atmosphere: Bulbapuck
The three-tone shading makes the light seem very harsh, which helps to create the 'barren wasteland' feel.
Composition: Misj'
What lost it for Bulb here was that there seems to be a very definite divide down the centre of the screen,                           which seems as though there is no reason to move over to the left.
Functionality: Misj'
There appears to me more places to go and more thins to do in this piece.

Peace
Scarab

p.s. ... How does one pronounce "Misj'"? I'd be interested to know. :)

At that age, we re-enacted DBZ.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who did this when I was younger ;D

Not only did we do that, but back when I was at primary school, we had a game called "Kegga" which basically involved about ten people sitting in a circle with one person in the middle who had to stand there for as long as they could whilst the rest of the kids would kick them in the shins and calf muscles.
Good game that...

So... did you end up finding a way to do it, or did you just go with the compromise above?

It could be an explanation of why there are two different style of RON sprites.  This doesn't matter to the DQ world  but it's something that could be added if it helps explain the RON world.

Is there really any need to explain any discrepancies between the two styles?
Surely this is not detracting from the experience for anyone.

For instance, if an actor on a TV show is replaced, there is never an explanation as to why the character  looks different all of a sudden, as the viewer will just see right through that and see that it is because of technical reasons, and not narrative reasons. The viewer just suspends their disbelief and accepts that this is the new representation if the same character.

I do, however, like your Wizard of OZ style cameo appearance suggestion.

Peace,
Scarab

if there's enough support maybe CJ will make it a higher priority.

Woot for e-Petitions! ;D

I mean granted limited adventure game use with this feature, non-adventure games are not that uncommon, and it will just add to AGS's already quite prominent versatility.
