@Scavenger wow, your work is awesome. Thank you for the tips and the inspiration  I'll be sure to check out your games. I am very psyched about the possibilities of using it to create day/night cycles, as well as seasons in my game. I want to see how far I can stretch the capabilities of this... Also @Scavenger what program do you use for making your sprites?

Hey thanks! I use Aseprite for my sprites nowadays, though at the time of that project I used MSPaint. I don't recommend that.

Generative AI can only resolve images from noise based on input, so making it generate proper, real animation is probably something it is least suited to. It can barely make still images, and even then, it's just laundering the work of actual artists into goo.

I would prefer your best manual attempt at a walk cycle than anything an AI produces. At least then it'll have thought put behind it and won't be stolen.

All of my games are 8-bit, the engine handles 8bit surprisingly well on modern computers. There are a few caveats like needing to make certain palette slots the correct colours (slot 16 has to be pure black). I haven't made anything nearly as complex as what you've linked but palette cycling is completely possible, and with clever palette use 256 colour games can look very lush and colourful. I've done day/night cycles stuff, and even more complex things:






So yeah, it's perfectly possible in AGS. I recommend having 16-32 colours at the end of your palette for the interface that doesn't change, and use the rest to create lighting effects and stuff.

I've done something similar, though it only works in 8-bit mode.

It's pretty easy to parse something like this if you have an escape character. For it I don't use labels, just dynamic sprites and buttons. Though it's far from usable outside of the contexts I'm using it for.

Honestly it's this that makes me think that WHAM will never change their mind. Referring to the LGBT community as this ridiculous alphabet soup (by adding on letters etc, it's LGBTQIA+, Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer Intersex Asexual +, each letter has an actual meaning.) is at best disrespectful and at worst actively contributing to the miasma of disbelief about people's identities.

"Female" can definitely be used derogatory. But there will also be cases where the term seems more neutral, mainly where it can't easily be replaced with "woman". For instance "The magazine is aimed at 18â€"25-year-old females" or "The number of females competing in college sports has increased" would probably not be rude, because the females in question are both girls and women. These sentences would work equally fine with "males", which I believe should be the real test. (Examples from dictionary.cambridge.org) [/language nerd filter]

It's so easy not to noun someone, it's generally more respectful. Besides which, calling women "females" makes you 100% sound like a ferengi.

I'm still here, I'm just not working on any AGS games right at this moment, I decided to take a break to write Sega Genesis games instead for a while to beef up my knowledge of C.

Looking up reference of the character, it seems the hat is more angular and floppy, so I did that. I also messed around with the rest of the sprite a bit. It's a bit muddy, you may want to use less shades of the same colour - another advantage of this is that animating the character will be infinitely easier.

If you're importing a .pal file, it needs to be 768 bytes in size and in Jasc format, rather than Microsoft format. It's a crapshoot what exports which format, so I'd stick to exporting a bmp file and importing that into AGS.

So am I getting this correct, you think that being transgender is a "goofy belief" and you really want to misgender trans people because you don't think they're legitimate? Because the vast, vast majority of people are gonna ask for he/she/they. And even if it was an exotic pronoun, is it any different from having an unusual name?

Also, using someone's pronouns costs you absolutely nothing. Why would you want to regularly and willingly refer to someone as something other than their proper pronouns? What purpose does that even serve?
