Looks and sounds awesome! I'd check it out but I have a paper to write for class.  :'(

Well, the last thing AGS-related I did before it messed up was testing the tech demo of Amulet of Kings! So I blame them. Hahah...

No, but I think somehow my Logitech USB gamepad conflicted or something... But I have no clue. I'm just glad it fixed itself.

From what I've seen of your backgrounds, and then looking at this, the styles don't really seem to match. And he seems maybe a bit too big by a few pixels for a 320x240 game.
#4
Mordalles, you can have my idea if you want.
#5
Ok... I also can't even play any other game made with AGS!

Edit: Woohoo! I fixed it. Although I had tried a restart before, I did another restart again and now it works. Weird stuff, but it's fixed now.

Every other program works normally. Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Mount & Blade, Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7, Trillian, and Opera are the only things I really use. eMule and Windows Media Player too, oh and WinAmp. AGS just went whack.

Alright, not only is AGS failing to load but when I tried to run my demo game I had made with it but not a few days ago, that won't load. Same error.

The only thing different with my system I have done is plugging in a Logitech Dual Action gamepad, which I unplugged and removed to see if that helped. It didn't.

Well, I have XP but I do not believe in Windows Restore. That thing is whack and as far as I know don't I have to keep it updated with restore points?

 I forgot about my problem. Until that gets cleared up the only thing I can do is make graphics and ideas...

I guess I won't be entering the competition (unless someone teamed with me and did the scripting).

I actually came up with an idea last night before I went to bed after desperately trying to come up with an idea, so I'll try to finish a game although I have to write a paper for English this week. I also think we should have until the end of the 29th because the weekend is a good time to finish up any last minute stuff.

Have you run a virus and spyware check lately?

That's the first thing I do when something like this goes wrong. I ran AntiVir Personal and Spybot Search & Destroy right away, after updating each of them.

I have no new programs running in the background...

I reinstalled AGS and it's still not working.  :'( I've never had anything like this happen before.

Oh no! But I have no clue where to start without a theme.  ???

I'm staring at a blank background in PSP.
#14
Wooo! I will do this just for fun and for more scripting and graphic practice before I start further production on Karl the Karmite...

Is there no theme? I thought we had to wait for a theme so we didn't start early.

And if anyone wants to work with me, please PM me. Now. Do It.

No, I'm going too... I'm pretty sure that'll fix it. But why would it act up all of a sudden like this? I didn't change anything or do anything differently.

For some backgrounds, they look like they'd be better suited to a first-person game (like the one of the toilet and bed) because they're very close up and at an extreme angle (for an adventure game) and there's little room for character movement. Also, I know it's a dark and mysterious prison, but it's a little too dark and lifeless. Adventure games, to me, are more about exploration and discovering new things, and discovering grey concrete wall after grey concrete wall to me wouldn't be very exciting.

I'm not sure how much story or puzzle design you have, but maybe try adding some crawlspaces with a crawling view of the character or underground sewers and other things to add variety to the locations.

Well I finished my demo up the other day for my game, and today I was going to correct a bug in it and add more to the "tutorial" at the beginning so I double-click agsedit.exe and I see the splash logo screen flash quickly and then it goes away... So I try again, same thing. I restart my computer, and double click agsedit.exe again. Now I get:

Quote
agsedit.exe - Application Error
--
The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.
OK

I think it looks great, but he's maybe a bit short? Although I know Hitler was short... It just looks weird.

Also, in its current position, that staff/whip thing or whatever looks like a tail.
#19
Why'd you have to do that. My chances of winning just went from maybe 25% to 0%.  :'(

Nice animation, ProgZmax.

Well the demo was up early today but I'm just posting to make a few more statements...

Known bugs:
Spoiler
When the player sets the fire alarm off twice in a row the carpet gets some weird interaction results. I'll need to fix that.

Other issues:
I forgot to mention the Hook feature in the "tutorial." I meant to explain it and I'll probably update that after class today. Basically it allows Karl to "suck" an object into the hole at his lower region, and "spit" it back out again. Useful for pulling things upward, or moving them from one side of the room to the other.
