Yay!

By the way, that paper sign attached to the tree will have a character's black and white image on it, after the character artist draws it.

Duck, it's www.lemonparty.org, not .com. And I hate that one. My friend showed it to me the other day.

There's also this great site (not really weird, just a hot girl): Bah, the site went down when I just checked it... http://bakla.net/ Just in case it comes back up.

Yes, they are supposed to be cracks.

And, timh_009, in my original idea of what the room was supposed to look like, the plants would have been dead. I guess I'll attempt that. I'm glad you recognized the couch as being ripped open too. I couldn't really get that to look right.

strazer, I'd love to make a sagging chandelier that's lightly broken, but I'm no artist so I don't think I'll be able to add that in. The overall image is a bit empty though, but after the two characters are added in, it might look a bit nicer.

These backgrounds are meant to be fast and crappy. I'm no artist, and I just want to get to the programming part of the game. This game I'm working on now is just an experience for me, so I can finish a game and say I did it. It doesn't have a lot of atmosphere, or a lot of story. The characters are nice though, and I'm sure people will enjoy playing it for the 10 minutes or so it might take them to beat it.

I don't really think people would walk right into the pillar. It's over to the left of the elevator.

I added the "details" to the image. What do you guys think?

Hahaha. That's a really funny walk cycle. It has a lot of character to it though, in my opinion.

I think you should reduce the back and forth bob (and if there isn't one, it sure does look like there is). Only use a up and down bob.

You should get 300kb/sec with DSL, as with cable. With DAP, I get 350kb/sec, but without it I get the same... Sometimes when sites go slow, I can use DAP to make it go faster though. So no, it isn't only for dial-up connections.

That's one amazing storyline. Hahah. Actually, I think it's pretty decent. Might be interesting. Hopefully the game will have a lot of humor.

I also like the backgrounds.

Good luck.

Thanks for updating the first post with a storyline. It sounds great.

I hope you can finish this project. If you need any help with puzzle designs, or further storyline development you can contact me.

Also, I like the concept of the main character. She's a very abnormal main character, with a lot of potential. However, I think the sprite could be improved upon.

Try posting her in the C&C forum.

Not to ruin your spirit, but the programming for such a project sounds a little difficult for a first project.

The story is really nice though, and I like your artwork so far. I'd say make the game, but without the extra programming that you wanted. Or at least make a small test game (without graphics, storyline, etc.) so that you can practice programming a situation in which a puzzle becomes easier or more difficult, so that you do not have to dump the project in its midstage.

I added a "screenshot" of two characters the character artist made. I'll try to finish up another background. I would have did one yesterday, but it was one of those days where I just felt like thinking about life and other fun stuff.

And hopefully I'll be able to give you guys some music samples which are currently being composed by Scorposer.

These are two characters the character artist (not me) has drawn. So praise should go to him, and not me.

The reason they are so different in size is because the character artist draws them to match the backgrounds after I draw them, so we don't have to scale them with the AGS engine. The only character that will be scaled is the main character, who is not drawn yet.

What we need suggestions on:
1. The beanie on his head. Right now it sort of looks like a really weird head-shape with a bad hairdo.
2. The "cig" in his hand. It looks a little strange.
3. Possibly the lip. I see it as a big lip, but others may think it's a beard.
4. Anything else you want to change.

1. Possibly her entire image. She's supposed to be a prostitute that acts like a business-woman, but right now she almost looks like a flight attendent. I think making her a little sexier would help.
2. Her face. The character artist just couldn't get this to look right. She's standing in the very back of a largely scaled room, so that's why she appears so small. Actually, she needs to be about 10 pixels taller...
3. Anything else you want to change.

I was thinking about making a game with a greyscale palette. I guess it would work. You'd have to make sure the play is able to recognize objects without their proper colors...

I'll also vote for "number 4."

I use Download Accelerator Plus (DAP).

FileZilla? I have a program called FileZilla, but it's an FTP program I use to upload things to my site.

General Discussion / Re:Celebrity Birthdays
Thu 29/01/2004 03:32:50
There are 55 celebrities born on the same day as me, but these are the only two I care about:

Wilbur Wright - I'm going to invent something really cool. Woo!
Charlie Chaplin - Uhh... I'm going to be funny?

That's a really nice interface! I love it.

The background in the test, as well as the intro screen, is amazing. I also enjoyed the music. Did you compose it?

Oh, and the sprites look nice.
#277
I like the style in the images. The character could use some more work though.

And please give us a storyline or something.

I would ask for everyone to stop posting in here, because this thread doesn't deserve any attention as the "movie" or "game" is obviously not being made, but this is just way too funny. So please continue. Free entertainment rocks.

I was going to add a sign later, so you'll eventually see that.

About the contrast, I use a really old monitor with true colors and great contrast, so when I draw things and pick colors they usually look very good. However, the new monitors of today are very bright so most of my shading is probably hard to see. I'll try to fix this later, but it's hard to judge sometimes.

I honestly didn't think of adding clouds, so I'll do that. I may also give the tree in the foreground some leaves that extend across the top of the background.

I'll also change the black lines on the van.

I can't do it now though because I have work.
