Looks pretty good, but the hair on the side of the head waving up and down is waving just a tad too much. It looks like an insect's legs/arms swinging around.

I vote ScottDoom. Haha, I love being not helpful in any way.

Hah hah. Thanks.

Vote?

Ok. I vote on GhostGR's. It's funny.

As was already said, I think the corners need something. They look a little naked.

Also, I think it would be a nice detail if a few bottle-racks were empty here and there, so it doesn't look so neat and uniform.

He looks kinda scrunched.. Like a midget.

That's what we were going for. The characters Rolf and Joachim were inspired by the characters Sam and Max. Rolf, who will be drawn next week, is a very tall and pale older man with a blonde mustache. Joachim (this character) is a very short man (who still maintains an average width).

Interference, I made the eyes a little more round (I think). I also slightly adjusted the nose, and erased few stray pixels from his left arm. I also colored his white undershirt to a grey.

Darth Mandarb, I tried changing the nose outline color to a dark skin color, but it didn't look right.

As of now, all we need is a good background artist. We need the style to be slightly cartoon and realistic (see above character art).

Most of the background art will be fairly simple to draw. Walls, doors, radios, antennas, bunk beds, desks, tables, kitchen appliances, MG-42s (mounted machine guns), and things of that sort. The most difficult objects would probably be the Maybach Zeppelin DS8 (a luxury car found in a garage in a certain level), the Kubelwagens, and the Hanomag Sdkfz.251s (German troop-transport vehicles).

That is a big improvement. I really like it.

And no, I don't mind windowed mode because it's the only mode I can play in. If I try to play an AGS game fullscreen it comes out all garbled. I think it has something to do with my ATI 9800. Maybe I'll make a post on the technical forum...

We're going for the 800x600 resolution. Heh heh. So... I think it will fit. Otherwise, we could go for the 640x480 and possibly scale the character down, or use all scrolling backgrounds. At the moment, we currently lack a background artist.
Edit: Heh heh. Ok. ;D

The black outline on the nose does look a little
strange...

Oh, and our artist will have an animation tomorrow hopefully. He's sleeping right now.

My friend made this tonight in MS Paint for our upcoming game. What do you guys think?

Shield of Lífi

Made of steel, with a bronze geometric symbol embedded in the middle. Also, a nice dose of blood splatter and rust.

Edit: I remade it. I'm not sure which one looks better.  ???

By the way, the first is 30 colors and the second is 31.

I made this from this photo, and I also "suck" at drawing.

I followed the same tutorial that you are trying to. Just keep it simple. It looks as if you tried to use some paintbrushes and such to paint it. Trace the important details with a 1 pixel-wide "pencil" at first, then fill them with color. Then use the Adjust Layer (Brightness/Contras) method to shade. Next, recolor and add other small details as you see fit.

That looks pretty good. I really like the style. The palette of colors is really nice. Although you're going for a nice simplistic style, I think it could use a little more shading. For example, there should be a slight shadow around the base of the light (at least I think so), and also on the hat and hat-stand. As SteveMcCrea said, I also think the wall line should still go through the shadow of that hat-stand. The stairs also look a little funny, if that's what they are. Finally, if the thing in the upper-left corner is a window, then I think the shadow needs to react differently on it. Sadly, I am not sure how it should be, I just know that it doesn't look right.

I did a quick edit to show you what I'm talking about, but I'm sure you could do it better:

It was the predecessor to the pet rock, which also did not work out.

I drew it in Paint Shop Pro 7 (don't know why), and did the coloring in Photoshop 7.

I vote for Inkoddi's, because of the unique perspective and weird distortions.

Os Último Quão Queijo ^_^, I somewhat agree with you that the wall does slightly resemble leaves. I went a little crazy with the effect whlie trying to draw "water damage."

MrColossal, that's a really nice remake of my work. I was actually originally going to make the tile lines just like that, but then I realized with a perspective like that I'd also need to show a little bit of the right side of the fridge and I couldn't get it to look right. In your remake it still looks normal though. Also, I was trying to paint stove grills on top of the thing that currently looks like a dishwasher, but I couldn't get it to look right so if anyone would be willing to show me I'd appreciate it. Also, MrColossal, thanks for the link to the perspective info. I'll study that next time I want to draw a background. And no, I did not paint it and scan it. It was done digitally in Photoshop 7. I don't have a scanner.

Inkoddi, you are right. It is a little on the clean side in terms of a lack of objects. The reason for this, I can't draw. My real purpose in this was to test the style of coloring, and I was rather happy with it.

The image isn't showing up for me. Maybe Opera won't display .pcx files.

I viewed the source and looked at it...

I think the right leg looks really small in comparison to the left leg, and to the whole body in general. Try to make it one or two pixels wider.

Other than that, I think it looks ok.

First, I'd like to say that it is not wise to use textures to fill areas because it is very easy to see the texture's pattern repeat.

Next, it is best to try and maintain a certain style throughout the entire image. On your windows(?) and door, you have a unique way of coloring and shading them and they are outlined in black, but this is not found anywhere else in the image.

I do like the way you made the plant, and the bushes/shrubs/trees in the background.

If you plan to keep it in its current state, I would say adding a concrete path from the sidewalk/road to the house would add, perhaps a tree of some sort to the left or right of the home, a mail box, and an address tag on the home. Just think of simple things that would add atmosphere. Also, you could try some shading.

This is the first background I've ever attempted to make. I just randomly made it. There was no purpose, except to make a slob's kitchen. I really suck at drawing, so I had to cover it up with a lot of pretty brushes and colors.

Anyway, the thing that troubles me the most and prevents me from drawing a lot of objects is perspective. I never know how much of the top, bottom, or side of an object should be shown. Any tips? How does a vanishing point really work? I learned about 8 years ago, but I've forgotten.
