the sounds surprised me and told me that i had my volume up too high.  nice job making the seamless continuity.  nice job all around. i love both those games.  its almost worthy of being on undergrounds or whatever those places are called. maybe more of a story and it could fit in there.  i mean, im all for senseless beatings, but think about the children out there who want a story too.  maybe have them going for the princess on the final level of double dragon, and then you have to fight your brother, or whatever. then yoshi comes in and eats everyone and does the princess (offscreen)

um yeah.  ;D

Sprite Dimensions (from the manual)
_____________________________
GetGameParameter
GetGameParameter (parameter, int data1, int data2, int data3)

Gets the value of various game properties which are wanted so rarely they don't have their own specific script command.
The possible values for PARAMETER are listed below. The data values depend on the command - if they are not required, simply pass them as 0.

Parameter  Description
GP_SPRITEWIDTH  Returns the width of sprite slot DATA1
GP_SPRITEHEIGHT  Returns the height of sprite slot DATA1
GP_NUMLOOPS  Returns the number of loops in view DATA1
GP_NUMFRAMES  Returns the number of frames in loop DATA2 of view DATA1
GP_ISRUNNEXTLOOP  Returns 1 if loop DATA2 of view DATA1 has "Run next loop after this" checked
GP_FRAMESPEED  Returns frame speed setting of frame DATA3 in loop DATA2 of view DATA1

Example:

if (GetGameParameter(GP_SPRITEWIDTH, 10, 0, 0) > 20) {
 Display("Sprite 10 is wider than 20 pixels!");
}

SetObjectBaseline
SetObjectBaseline (int object, int baseline)

Changes OBJECT's baseline to BASELINE. This modifies the line you can set in the editor. You can disable the baseline (and revert to using the base of the object's image on the screen) by passing 0 as the baseline. Otherwise, the baseline is the Y screen co-ordinate you want to use, normally from 1 to 200 unless you have a taller than usual room.
Example:

SetObjectBaseline(4,100);

will change object’s 4 baseline to a line positioned at y coordinate 100.

Just pay attention to where you placed it in the game, and you could even set up your own room variables to keep track of where it is if its going to be constantly moving.

2d chars (like cut carboard cut outs) on a 3d bg might be cool, but i agree that 3d bgs should probably be the way to go since they are easily dynamic to help with the scene
#2305
yes, use RawSaveScreen, then do your doodles, and then RawRestoreScreen

Spoiler
yeah, their fight at the end totally reminded me of a dbz fight, but since the live action dbz movie is still in production, this leads this movie to be the 'first' movie to use the z axis in fighting (as far as i know) and flying.  but whatever.

and..oh god..  that death scene... could it go on anymore?  ill get the dvd deleted scenes and see another 20 minutes of her talking and talking.  ScubaChic actually said in the theater, "Would she just die already?" and all these people started laughing.

General Discussion / Re:Does The Matrix Suck?

If you go see the Matrix 3 and walk out 30 minutes or so before the ending, youd be better off.  Throughout the first 2 hours, every so often I'd say to myself, wow, this movie is kicking ass, and then the ending comes, which yes, props for being untraditional, but not at all what I was wanting or expecting.  Granted, I didn't get to discuss or think about the movie right after it ended, because ScubaChic lost her cell phone in the theater and we spent an half hour looking for it as i crawled around on the floor looking (we got it back today by some nice stranger who picked it up) but now that i think back, the ending wasn't soooo bad, it kinda does work, but there are still some people not dead who should be or at least i want, and there are things left open.  Very open so much as for me to expect a Matrix 4 newspost on www.cinescape.com within a week of the first week's revenue report. I say, bring it.

and yes, damn them for making me have to go out and buy and beat the matrix game. cheat codes for the 30 minutes of movie, but i hear that naomi starts mackin' it with some girl in a real video... so there is a plus.  ;)

I think your jokes are funny, CJ...

I really don't see how you saw Erpy as being ungrateful.. he wants to give CJ money, which, to me, is the exact oppositte.

You played Tierra's game, correct, and you were happy with those graphics, which is what AGS handles.
No one bitches and complains, because its not asked whether or not CJ is getting money, really, and its none of our buisness if he is getting money or not.

the whole "I don't want to charge money for it because I don't want to feel obligated to update it unless when I feel like it" becomes another excuse.

i like this excuse too.  seeing that CJ updates AGS seemingly twice a month and hardly seems to go on vacations.  We all here at AGS owe him quite a lot, which he is still the nicest guy and doesnt ask for anything in return.

What a guy.... maybe he is Jesus Chris...

oh, and please dont come here and bitch about how lame graphics-wise some of our games can be.  we love our members and their range of abilites, especially when someone attacks us as a group, and you could find us to be quite angry.  youd find we are very accepting of many people, but this kind of impression would probably lead us to ask you not to come back, if you hadnt already said you were leaving.

haha, no... i dont know how you got that.  just meant that his driving was death defying... i dunno, ive never seen him drive.  ;D

Seen it and ridden in it! It's not a death-defying as it seems to be from the appearances.

Just the driving, eh?  ;)

set a global int to remember if the person has enabled the ability of going there, and on 'when char enters room' do a check to see if its enabled, and if it is, enableobject

Here are a couple of attempts at characters from a farscape parody I'm attempting

320X240

640X480

Im definatly going to use the larger of the 2, but since these are my first attempts at sprites, I wanted to see what y'all thought

any feedback is appriciated

you could go ahead and not triple post, but you can edit your posts

Would these be in 'Outlaws' style-ish, or anything for reference.  Like, what is your inspiration?

I like the guy on the top (upside down), and i like the girls body, not so much the arm, or the face

I suppose I could condense mine, I just started with a normal banner size.  Is it too much?

Thats the only part of Full Throttle I don't look forward to playing.  Even though ive played it a dozen or so times, when you have to kick the wall to open the door to get into Corley factory, it always takes forever for me to find it. I think I end up just walking a pixel at a time up and down the wall and select kick on each crack.
