To Farlander, or whomever can readily contact LucasFan, or perhaps if even LucasFan is browsing the boards, I want LucasFan and the team to know that this one guy is selling this free product of Maniac Mansion Deluxe on eBay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Maniac-Mansion-Deluxe_W0QQitemZ8288063934QQcategoryZ62053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

or you can find it by: Item number: 8288063934

And also, if you listen to the audio near the ending, they mention whenever they have live animals on the set they have paramedics standing by.

But I hadn't heard about this on any news, so I am all open to this being fake. It does sound like a allusion to Grey's Anatomy, although I can't quite hear the hospital they are taking him to, it does sound to be the same one.

Right, it is as he said, they are not made to work with the latest version of AGS.

Check out to see if this thread gets updated with a new link. (past my post)
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=19934.0

They'll get you an older version, I suggest 2.62, to work with your files.

Is there a page that lists all the versions and gives a download link? I know most of us have them all on our harddrives, but for people using opensource code or old templates, we need a place to link them to, to pick up the old versions of AGS.
#245
Right now there is not one. You can either wait for one, do it yourself, or do what I suggested before, and use an older version of AGS that the template was made with.

We try to make one with the official releases, and not update one every beta release. We're only human.  ;)

I was checking out digg.com every hour like I normally do, when I saw an article entitled: How to set up your own gaming company (part 2)

Part 1 deals with production of the game, where as Part 2 deals with the buisness end of things and keeping costs down.

Within Part 2, you are linked to a previous article, and by far the most fun to read, HOW TO SCREW UP A PERFECTLY GOOD GAME COMPANY IN TEN EASY STEPS.

Enjoy the read.

General Discussion / Re: Competition Idea

Yes, I agree. This sounds fairly similar to the "From concept art to functional background" competitions we have. I like them and I would like to see it come up once a month or so.

What was the process of coloring images for CMI?
I've been trying to duplicate this image to test my coloring.
I can't figure out how there are so many areas with bunches of colors that don't even seem to go together.
One of those yellow knobs alone contains 50 colors.
Was this done by hand?
How were the outlines rendered without going outside the color palette?
--------
What is the process of creating a background and coloring it in this style while using a limited palette?
--------

What you can do, is draw you backgrounds in pencil on a sheet of paper. Ink the final outlines, and scan that into your computer. Use that layer as a top layer in photoshop, or your favorite drawing program, and draw below it in new layers. I would suggest to "color in" the base flat colors of all the shapes outlined. For instance, the wall at the bottom of the image.... All the wall would first be colored the same color of tan/beige. Then after adding more layers of more colors on top, you would begin to see your shading and highlights. When you are happy, you can flatten your image and import it into AGS.

General Discussion / Re: .naming a song

without listening to your soprano rendition, I believe what Ashen suggested is probably it.

And after listening to your rendition, I'm conviced its the song Ashen suggested.

I bought him 'Smores at Mittens 2004 and he's forever been my programming slave since.    I have a 1024*768 version of AGS and it sits on my computer unused.  :=

This most likely has to do with the version of AGS you are using. Find out through the template documentation what version of AGS the template was built for, and then we can get you that version to use with the template, and you shouldn't run into any problems using it.

You ask for help to create two different types of GUI's.  Monkey Island uses verbs at the bottom, while Full Throttle uses a verb-coin interface.

The 9-verb, Monkey Island themed GUI is discussed in this sticky thread right here in the same subforum, a couple posts up from the one you started.

LucasArts GUI Help Thread
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=24112.0

There are links to templates that you can download and start a new game with, to create a game similar to Monkey Island.
---------------
you can do a forum search for "verb coin" and find out how others have done their GUI's, and there are others actively working on creating tutorials/demos for making a verb coin.

-------------
I'm afraid I don't understand you dialog question. Are you using a blank game template, or something else, where you can only see one dialog option on your dialog tree. Is this one you made yourself?

Critics' Lounge / Re: Vitruvian variety

I agree that it would need the circle and other sketchy parts from the original to move away from the allusion to Christ. It does look like we're looking down on Christ on the cross, at least to me.

Also, I see that you have the hands in certain positions. You may want to be careful as to not make any American (or other language) Sign Language hand symbols/gestures as to not give any hidden meaning. I suppose you should just worry about whatever country the tattoo-ee will be sporting this tattoo in.

In my opinion, it's been quite awhile since our last "Release Something" week, and with the recent E3 madness, I suggest we prepare for another Release Something party to have our own little celebrations. Each post would be like having our own booth at E3, but like E3, no .gif booth babes dancing within the post. (with exception to StarTrippers  ;) )

So perhaps come June 15 - 17th, we could celebrate several days of AGS RS3 (It would be our third RS, if I'm not mistaken.)

We have a Beginner's FAQ, which has this question answered, with perhaps many more that you haven't thought of, so go ahead and check it out, along with the answer to your question, here:

Yes, and we have such a thread for "companies" or single people on the internet pretending to front a company looking for teammates, in our sticky thread higher up than this thread, right here in this subforum:

Recruit a team: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=26161.0

Or you could look in the other sticky thread: Offer your services
where you could perhaps find some artistic person looking to team up.

And if you were trying to sound professional, you may want to work on your English... I know this is the internet, but grammar counts in all buisness proposals.

they said they would tend to be about as long as Bone 2, not 1.

I was dissapointed with the voices, but perhaps I just want either the cartoons actors or the game actors, or one from each. I doubt its that much of a timing issue. Getting consistent work like this is a great job to get. I bet its a money issue, which I understand and wish TellTale the best. It'll take me awhile to get used to the voices but that won't stop me from getting the games.

The idea that in LucasArts version of Sam and Max 2, the voiced characters, being done by their original game voices, were going to meet parrallel universe versions of themselves, and those were going to be voiced by the cartoon counterparts...ohhhhÃ,  made me giddy! But now thats a dream... unless someone accidentally released some sound footage from that.

ChangeModeGraphic
(Formerly known as ChangeCursorGraphic, which is now obsolete)

Mouse.ChangeModeGraphic(CursorMode, int slot)

Changes the specified mouse cursor mode's cursor graphic to SLOT. This permenantly changes the specified mode's cursor graphic. This function may be useful if you need more than the maximum number of mouse cursors.
Example:

mouse.ChangeModeGraphic(eModeLook, 120);

will change the cursor's graphic for look mode to the image that's imported in the sprite's manager slot 120.
