usually knives wont have the sharp ends facing where i would pick them up either, and yes, there are times when you need to be asthetically pleasing with your backgrounds and if the perspective is so off that it hurts your eyes, then there should be a change, but of course, you dont have to... its just heavily suggested.  nobody complained that DOTT had odd and too wacky backgrounds.  That perspective is a relaxed perspective....it has its own rules, but does not just scrap perspective all together.

make a new room look like the thing that you want to have a close up of, and when you look at the first object, go to new room, hide player character.

AddInventory for when you want an inventory object to be given to your player character.

I really don't understand why you just wouldn't script this like said in the first reply?

What bspeers said is all that you need.  The Prologue like in Monkey Island, which had nothing to do with a boat until you see LeChuck in his boat, could all be done with what bspeers said.

you can already put your own icon into AGS. the only reason to use resource hacker is if you for some reason need an extreme highdefinition +bajesus resolution icon.

Have you read the readme file that comes with all the templates he made?

"Since Open, Close, Push and Pull are extended modes that use AGS cursormode 8, they'll also be defined this way."  read on in there to get more info."

I do believe its a good idea, but perhaps it will live on in Mods' new OverProductiveDay.

The arms seem to be coming wayyyy too much in front of the body.  Do you have a mirror you can "walk" in front of.  Your arms will not do that to its extreme. Combined with the feet turning outwards during walking, it actually still looks like he is dancing.  

Sorry to come down so hard, I dont mean it.  I would just try and keep the arms and feet moving as straight up and down as I could.

But it still is a very nice animation!

You *could* create a really long animation with you doing all the things you wanted, by just pixel pushing in your favorite art program....

or you could

1. Check out and add in here "StartCutscene" in the manual
set animating objects above the wheels of your wheels when moving, and continue to do

DisplaySpeech
DisplaySpeech (CHARID, string message)

Displays the text MESSAGE as speech above the specified character's head. The text will remain on screen for a limited time, and the user may or may not be able to click it away depending on the setting of "Player can't skip speech text". The text displayed by this function looks identical to that used by the dialog system.
NOTE: This function allows variables like "%d" and "%s" in the message.

Example:

DisplaySpeech (EGO , "My name is ego");

will display the message above the character’s EGO head like the LEC games and play the character’s talking animation.

And put this on a large attributes bg, and possibly a constant counter adding to a variable that inturn will change the setbackgroundframe over by a couple pixels every second or something.

maybe you have to convert the global messages section to english.  I remember having to do that with LucasFan's templates.

go ahead and read at least the first post in this thread. it will direct you to different templates of the LucasArts guis.  They are much much more stable than the one given with ags and the one in the demo.

Does the school you work for supply webspace for the teachers to use for their class assignments and the such? I know at least my colleges do around here as do some of the high schools.  If not we can post some well known free web servers with easy to use uploaders to get your game up there and then you can hand the internet address out to kids.  Also, ones like www.freewebs.com I know for a fact will not put pop up ads on there, even ones that could have some racy material which would be a huge problem if you had kids going to the site.

Yes, AGS is a perfect tool for making science tools.  I've seen several before done with AGS, and I don't see why not yours wouldn't work, nor be welcome.

And on that note, Bring it on!  ;D
