Alright, so we had a puzzle competition:

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=21843.0

I didn't realize that it had stopped. So perhaps this new take on the idea is worth a try to revive what, in my opinion, is a neccesary competition in an adventure game forum.

We already have our puzzle competition, but its not like I'm against this.

Hammer, be nice. My boy Czar obviously started a new thread by accident. he knows better.  And your walkthrough is missing the very important "open browser to google"

That's why its a puzzle in an adventure game you silly twit!
------------
If it's multiple trees keeping him up, and also other trees around, then they shouldn't really be merging at the one point as they are.   Yes, the perspective lines should, but they almost all seem to be part of the same tree/root system.

And I would suggest not having that type of color of the two main trees. I know there are trees of that color, but I think it sort of hurts the immediate recognization of the scene.

I just mailed mine using the address at the end of the pdf.

I don't support the idea of getting rewarded for making posts. That will lead to even more irraneous posts being made around here. I would support a "props" type of ability, where if someone makes a post, we can hit a button that says "yes I agree with this post" or perhaps a 'No" button, which would cut down on people making a post that just says "I agree" right below the one above it.

A general props type ability is allowed on the [adult swim] board, but you don't get to turn in the rewards. You click "give props" to any user you seem to like or get along with... and then it turns into a popularity contest by having charts to show whom is most popular. I don't think we need to turn this into a popularity contest. We all know I'm popular, but again, I don't want to allow a system on this board that just perpetuates more posts. It's not like we're hurting for new things to read about on these boards. I think we have one of the best boards on the net. So many active users, a great product to all relate to, and great discussions about adventure games all the way to real world events.

This subforum is for questions relating to using the ags editor. Sorry. Please use the forum search function before making posts to look for previously answered questions.

Sure am. I made a mention of it on my homepage. Right now I'm swamped with animation work for college, but I am going to see that MIA will get the attention it deserves it the late summer months.

I know there is desire for this game and even though it's rather stable now, I must give it more time to become better, as it wouldn't be fair to the original creators to release it with the minor adjustments that have been made on it so far.

Yes, but Syberia wasn't originally made in 1989-ish. I fully understand and back the idea to continue the style and looks of the original Loom. It is okay to update the graphics, but to continue in the style is a must, in my opinion.

But then there comes games like Maniac Mansion to MM2: Day of the Tentacle. The style was innovative to the series, and I would believe that everyone would choose MM2 over 1. But when you look at what was done with Loom, or Monkey Island 1 and 2, you see that you can create beautiful backgrounds that draw the gamer into the story without relying on making it a 3D game with chunky/blocky 3d characters.

But yes, it's up to the game designer of the official or fan game to decide what style will be final, and then its up to the player whether they will buy into it and play it, or not play it at all.

You'll need to check out this property from the help file (since I don't know which version you're using):
-----------------
PreviousRoom property
(Formerly known as character[].prevroom, which is now obsolete)

read only int Character.PreviousRoom

Gets the room number that the character was previously in. If the character is still in the room that they started in, this will be -1. Otherwise, it will be the room number of the room that they were last in.
This is a read-only property. It is set automatically by ChangeRoom.

Example:

Display("EGO's previous room was %d.", character[EGO].PreviousRoom);

will display the EGO character's previous room.

-----------------
And now incorporate this into a "Before fade in" If statement. Check which room they came from, and allow for different spoken dialog.

use a vector-based drawing program...

and I wish you luck with the animation of the tail. I hope it doesn't become something of a hinderance that bogs down your animation attention.

I've got the French dialog down now, thanks to the AGSers on the French AGS message board and to dsg_charly on these boards.
----------------
I hope I can get the other languages translated, but be glad there is no Google Translate or Babelfish for me to use, as that would just rape the proper translation.

Thanks again!

Do you really call her "Scubachic" Scumbuddy?!?

Only in bed....

Nah, I just thought it would allow for some people here to know who I was talking about.  :P

I'd say it's close to professional, but I'd suggest more play and less clunky-boxy lines, mostly at the end of her hair. It's also visible at the right side of her dress. There are too many breaks, when I think it would be a smooth ride around. What I meant before when I said play, is that you should stylize the hair, much like the girl of this advertisement campaign.

Is that a Father with Bible-Fighting action?!?! I love it!

"Feel the Holy Wrath of the Holy Bible, zombie!"

It is a nice style and you should keep it up. Perhaps, if anything I'd move the Father's spare hand down a bit, when the Bible(?) is firing. Just to add to the animaiton.

Nice stances, btw.

I agree. Go ahead and change it to how you see fit. You would know better. I just made up those lines as to what the general chant would be. The book doesn't mention what they chant, so I went ahead and made those lines. If you can tweak it a bit to make it sound more natural, go for it.

Thanks!

First of all, its absolutely gorgeous.

Then I'd like to say that we wouldn't normally see the clouds in the window, at the angle we're looking down at. And we should see more of the fridge, as in its dimensions.

Keep up the great work! can't wait to see more!

I really need the help from anyone before this Saturday, or perferably sooner. I know it's a bother for you all to ask someone, but if anyone could help me out, I'd be really appreciative.

----------------
I forgot to mention before, but could I also ask of someone who speaks fluent French to convert this line:

"Walk more slowly then, so I can see where you put your feet!"    - he is supposed to sound irratated when speaking it.

Thank you all.

I know what Anarcho means...  but I watched it live as he showed his video he produced as if he were the press secretary, and he can't get away from one of the better known press reporters. It was amusing, and I chuckled a bit, but ScubaChicVB didn't like it at all. She just didn't think it was funny. I did feel a bit bad for Stephen when the president wasn't even watching the video as it was playing. They had a split screen showing the video and the president's "reactions" during it play, live. The president really didnt care.

Then after it played, the show was over and the president really didn't stick around at all, like mentioned before. I kinda joked about that with ScubaChic at our apartment. Then Fox news anchors came on immediatly and decided to analyze the whole show, and discussed how mildly amusing Stephen was. I had to agree. It was alright. I love the Colbert Report and the Daily Show, but this bit was alright. If the video linked to above is more of like a "roast" of the president, well, then that would be certainly something, but it wasn't mentioned by those anchors at all. I'll check out the video later.
