Well, seriously, my first idea was Hitlers' book "Mein K...." cant remember the title completly, but without the communist manifesto, i doubt there would be his... so I take mine back.

when you are in your sprite editor, you can select an image, then copy it to clipboard, open up ms paint or whatever, change the image, and then copy from clipboard back into ags.

you could use the letters and make your own sentances in like ms paint, and then create different faded levels of the text, and then in ags, create an animation using them, and then play the animations in the area you want and when you want

both characters and inventory items can not be deleted at this time for saftey reasons.  Chris does not want anyone to seriously mess up their game accidentaly.  You may, however, overwrite them with new characters or inventory items.

2.  on your gui, put a label with the text for it "@OVERHOTSPOT@"

I agree with Evil on the induction of new awards.  Some don't have to be winners, it could include all that entered.  In my opinion, not always does the best one win...


Making the competition a background as well, has been done here and seems to go well, so I am for it.  I think it should be a weekly thing or something, cause after awhile, soo much is added that it becomes chaos.

Wow, thats really good.  The hair is really well done.  If im going to have to be picky, which nothing seems to be wrong with this, maybe her right leg, on our left, i dont like how it is when she sits down.  it seems to high and to the side.. kinda unrelaxed in my opinion.. but yeah, wow, very nice and smooth animation.

Are you talking about like looking at like a map or a note that is in your inventory, like if you have played Monkey Island, at least, you can do that in that game.  In that case, run an inventory action so that if user interacts with inventory object, plus an if statement to check if the paticular inventory item was used, and then you can go to new room, hide main character, turn off and hide guis, and show the note.  You'll have to draw it as a large background, and there the player can read the note, and perhaps make an 'any click' will bring you back to previousroom.

Well, if you do go ahead and make the game with crappy graphics, you can later import over them, or use the new thing Chris is looking into doing with a graphics dump for ease of reimporting.

If you finish the game with retarded graphics, and are trying to 'sell' it to prospective artists, they could download the game, and decide then if they want to work with you.
I understand that is not the most ideal situation, but its one.

Sorry, but throwing a hissy fit just because no one responded in a thread isn't good PR, nor a good way to get an artist.

naming your options room Intro.crm will bring it up as the first room the game opens to. but be sure to make your main characters starting room 0.

going with what you were asking about a downloadable scripting tutorial... Do you have the AGS Helpfile? also known as the manual...

Everything you asked and more is in there.  There is a great tuturial within that as well to guide you through making a simple game.  I would very much ask that you give that a look through before you move any further with ags.  :)

I'm currently playing an adventure game made by LucasArts... its called Knights of the Old Republic.. yeah, its Star Wars, but there are plenty of puzzles, and even right now, I'm having to find the 4 map pieces... yeah good ol' story from Monkey Island 2.  ;)

God, this game is addicting.
