I've read on Mixnmojo that her English voice is more tolerable in the game, than that of in the demo. Perhaps it is that you just get used to it, but I can say I too was put off a bit by her striking voice. I do plan on picking up the game though.

For those who wanted to see it, I've got a copy of CoffeeLady's tutorial up on my site:

Here's m0ds and I goofing off, pretending to be moderators back in the day.

There used to be this one troll that would certainly get on my nerves and I'd have to slap him through his monitor all the time.

Wow, has it been that long.  Yeah, October 2004. Jeez. Well, I happen to have a copy of that demo that I can upload.

Here you go: http://www.lucasstyle.com/games/FryscapeDemoV1.0.zip

Think I'll boot it up again and give the short demo another play-through, myself.

First of all... unacceptable behavior on our forums.

You'll need to mention to us what version of AGS you are using, and what module you are having trouble importing.

Have you tried the Menu Bar along the top, choose Script, and then choose Module Manager?

Several people on the forums announced that they were just using AGS while waiting for Glumol (or SCRAMM, or one of the many other engines in production back then) to be released.
* Scummbuddy sadly raises his hand.

And if I'm going down, I'm taking m0ds too.... and whom else? Jannar85? Subspark?

Here's proof of m0ds whoring himself. Gaze into the past!

I already played Myst. Sure it was pretty, but egad is it ever so dull.

Plus, it was part one of a two part punch that pushed Adventure Games out of the limelight.

I'm sorry to say that I will have to be passing on this years Mittens. <sigh>

I really wanted to come, but we are saving up for our house coming up soon, and ScubaChic gave me the ultimatum of either a new computer, or a trip to France; not both.

Well, I like you all fine and all, but my pr0n box loves me back.

I mean, perhaps next year all. That, or Brittens.

You could probably make a better storyline if you instead of having Bernard need to go home before he goes to get Dave's help, have Dave be the one that can't get anyone to respond to him. That way they both have motivation and interest in the story.

I mean, its a little silly for the genius to need a jock to figure out whats going on. Its usually the other way around.

-------

And if someone (Bernard or Dave) is in a room asking if anyone is home, you may want the character to pace around the room a bit as they are talking.

Another thing to check is how to add time between dialog lines. They are all one after another and it doesn't always work that way.

-------

You can drop the lines of "I tried to call my parents house first...""They didn't answer"        Its needless and slows down the progression.

--------------

Instead of "What the!"    try "What the..." Use the elippses when sentences don't really end.

And Hay! is actually "Hey!"

----------------
Even though the text changed color it was hard to understand who Bernard was talking to. Bring the conversation into the house. We need to see Dave and his blue text before we just see blue text to associate them together.

--------------
I'd fix the sign in Daves room that reads "Dave and Sandy" because I read it "Dave Sandy and".... You know what, instead have the door originally closed and have a sign read "Dave and Sandy's room, or something. That way we still know that they are a couple, but that old sign seems a little odd for them to have.

General Discussion / Re: JavaScript

Oh, I can easily fess up and mention that I love JavaScript. I use it all the time with my webwork. I hadn't noticed a "stopping" point of 2005, but I just wasn't really looking at that.

JavaScript has saved my butt many o' times.

I now realize that I had this post all ready to be posted a couple months ago, but I never hit the post button.

Over the Thanksgiving holidays (end of November) I finally asked ScubaChicVB to marry me. She said yes, and everythings great. My weekends over the past couple months have been filled with marriage planning, reception places hunting and house hunting. We're not getting married until May 09, and as for the other things we still haven't finished any of that. (I say we just go down to the courthouse and get it done.)

Here's a pick of the engagement. I was able to have her cousin just happen to be at the waterfall in a strange coincidence.  ::)

All in all, I'm sorry I've been away. I'm sure one of you all missed my witty-banter.

So what do I have to show for my absence? Absolutely nothing! I can say that I have been putting effort into finally creating my own cartoon and game studio, but that's years away, so until then I'll have to continue with my current job.

See you all around, and maybe at Mittens!

Melt the limit! MELT THE LIMIT!  That's madness. You and I have never "melted a limit" together, nor will we.

{Logs on to facebook and destroys all evidence.}

ScubaChicVB and I may like to attend. I guess I was just holding out as long as I could to see if we'd have it in Florida, USA this time...

Is there still room for us and our money?

EDIT* I was able to get my hands on the book I wanted. Thanks anyways.

This is a message/request for any AGS'er who lives in Japan. I am looking for a hard to find anime book. There was a rather good anime called Outlaw Star on Cartoon Network a couple years back, and I loved it. I'm not normally into anime but this one was fantastic for me.

Anyways, I've been trying to get the books that the series started as, even though they are somewhat different from the series. I have the first two books and am looking to get the third one. I'm looking for "Outlaw Star 3rd Star: Loud Minority"

If anyone can browse a bookstore in their own time and happen to see it, if they could pick it up I would gladly pay for the book, the shipping, and your time.

Edit* Oh yeah, I'm also looking for an anime by the name of: "Future Retro Hero Story". It's supposed to be a prequel to the Outlaw Star story in some respect.

A) Don't double post. I removed your unnecessary bump post. We'll try to help as fast as we can.

B) Don't type in all caps. This is poor net-iquette. It's rude and implies yelling.

C) Use descriptive titles. This helps when others are searching the forums for past help.
---------

Now, according to your new information, you could simply set up a timer to start when the NPC is "coming to get him" and "when timer expired" (the NPC has arrived) and if the character has used item with whatever before timer has expired..... do something.

Beginners' Technical Questions / Re: makin
Mon 22/10/2007 23:30:44
A) You must be more specific. These forums are not here for step by step procedures from initial set up of a game to completion, but rather to help with specific problems.

By all means, feel free to ask questions, and to continue related threads of your own, or start a new thread if its an unrelated questions.... but to just throw out a vague question as you did is not how to use these forums.

B) Have you gone through the mini-tutorial that comes with the "help file"/"ags manual"?

I'm willing to bet you haven't. By use of this forum you state that you have tried to answer the problem yourself and have searched the manual for answers but have not found an answer that fits to your acceptance. So please do yourself and us a favor and go through the manual.  My first couple weeks with AGS and this community I went through the manual pretty full just to understand the scope of what the engine could do. This will help immensely when a problem arises and you can think back to where you may have seen an a possible answer to your question.

C) I must say that if English is your primary language please do take more time forming your sentences. If it isn't your primary, excuse me; you're doing well enough.

---

So now, what is it that you would like help with, exactly?

I think I've once looked into doing your sort of thing, but I don't recall having any success. I will say that on one of my pages now, I have flash buttons that link to an iFrame and haven't had any problems with that.

Critics' Lounge / Ron Gilbert's Head
Wed 17/10/2007 20:28:40
I'm working on adapting Ron Gilbert into pixel and was wondering what people think so far. I was imagining finishing the body in a BigHead-LittleBody style.

I wonder if the front view is too circular or not.

Any ideas on how to improve this would be appreciated.

OMG, who's that next to Ron?!?! Sooo jealous.  ;)
