Everyone can sarcastically thank Erin for rummaging around my computer and deleting teh UlTiMaTe Monkey Island fan game.

And one of my favorite quotes comes from Eric:
''Yeah, because eating an egg that comes from a rabbit makes it THAT much more appetizing'' referring to those lovely Cadbury eggs.

I'm back but I decided to leave my laptop in canada. why would I want it?
but for now, is sleep. and as for jacuzzi pics... they may be nsfw... for those of us actually in the jacuzzi.
#83
Is there a jacuzzi? There were already people in it when we arrived. (because Eric, Jess, Pesty, and Grundislav got here first.)

Wish you all we're here. Our cabin has a now fully stocked fridge (for 21 and over) and has plenty of mysteries to solve, like what is so cool behind that locked door? And why does CJ keep getting strange bruises when AGA is around?

I'm totally psyched for this trip. Can't wait to see you all there. I need this vacation and I hope we all have a blast!

In case you are still wanting to pursue the CMI style, I want to let you know if you don't already, that Bill Tiller wrote out:

"How to Draw Monkeys the Lucas Arts Way: An Analysis of the Funny pictures in the Curse of Monkey Island"

You can find it as the second tutorial down on this page:

http://lucasstyle.com/tutorials.htm

Keep on practicing, and keep on showing us your work.

Well, you can go ahead and use Proskrito's or monkey_05_06's but try to stick with the version of AGS that they were made for. I wouldn't suggest trying to fix them to work with the "latest and greatest" version of AGS, if you really don't need the added benefits of a new version. Not everyone here upgrades every time, just so you know.

Now I feel silly for moving this to this Tech Forum, you one-upper.

We shall meet on the battle field of the Mittens Olympics this weekend and settle this!

Damn!

Anyways, I'll bring a DVD player, no problem. And I wouldn't mind paying you over PayPal either, as to keep down the amount of money I'll need to convert for this fun trip.

By the way, I'm already planning on hosting one, if not two, arts and crafts day happy fun times. You'll love one of them, I promise.

Am I right in assuming that there will be some sort of internet access at this cabin?

And since we'll be hosted by our Canadian friends, shall I assume we'll be subjected to watching the wonderful cartoon "Clone High". If not I'll bring my DVDs to subject to all.

First of all, I just want to say that I had no idea that the airport was 500 kilimeters/310 miles away. That would be waaaay too much to ask of people to do two days in a row. I don't mind paying for the night I won't be there at the cabin, and I am totally more inclined to do public transportation in the form of a bus ride to the airport, especially if the cost is down as low as you say. I may take 6 hours of a ride, but I'll live.

Could you explain the bus costs from the cabin to the airport more, and perhaps a probable duration time?

I certainly was afraid of the cost of a cab ride to the airport which would probably be more than the trip costs combined.

And why is our cabin soo far away from an airport!!  ;D

Totally double-posting so that I can make sure the tickets I bought will work out.

Friday July 20th

Depart 6:45 am--->Arrive 7:59 am

Cleveland (CLE)--->Toronto (YYZ)

And I'll just hang around the airport trying to pick up Mitteneers and Canadian women until around 4 or so, right?

And then my return flight, a day earlier remember, and I hope it doesn't become quite the hassle...

I'm coming back early, for I have a family trip up to upstate New York to see Cal Ripken Jr. get inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. I asked if I could just "meet them there" but no, I have to sit through the 6 hour drive practically all the way back from what would be like an hour drive from Mittens Home Base.

I'm sorry to hear that. How many games of yours would I have to buy to get you there?
And what about "If MattGobles going, then I'm going."   ;)

And I'm wondering how much of an inconvenience would it cause if I needed to fly out Thursday afternoon? Would we be able to go into town around the airport where I would leave you all and the rest of you would do some shopping or something?

The Rumpus Room / Re: Cheesy subtitle for AGS

"Stay away from the forums if you want to actually finish your game."

"When "point and click" didn't refer to "first person shooters".

"AGS: CounterStrike cLaN!1!"

"Make your own crappy fangame!"

"Psst. Don't open AGS on Christmas. You'll make Jesus cry."

"Insert Disk Two to continue."

"Vote for Sierra or LucasArts, Now!"

"Adventure games are dead. What are you doing here?"

Just as I was going to start us a "Big Blue Cup" group for us all to join, there already is one, and it has nothing to do with us...

Guess I'll just make us an AGS group.

As I sit here trying to re-install Windows XP, I had to use a Boot Disk to jump start the process. Not just one boot disk, as you would think it would be as they refer to it everywhere as "Put in the Book Disk at this point."

No! It's six boot disks. But that's beside the point. I'm really enjoying this right now. Not because my computer is on the verge of death, but the little tinker/clicking/loading sounds coming from my forgotten A:/> Drive. Oh, how I've missed these sounds. I was immediately brought back to a simpiler time. When adventure games came on 6 disks and nobody seemed to care about loading times or switching back between disks because the area you wanted to go to was saved on another disk.

And I've often thought as to how something like this could be implemented through AGS. It seems like its one of the only things that can't be emulated through AGS. Sure, you could have a silly pop up GUI that says "Please insert CD 12 into your CD tray" but it just doesn't have the same feel. The loading sounds for these 5 1/2" and this 3 1/4" disks were much cooler. So, I may be showing my age and definitly being taken over by nostalgia, but I do miss these sounds and their part in my gaming history.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Which Fatman is better?
Wed 16/05/2007 17:12:18
I was about to say, what if the one on the right had more of a gut, but then I wouldn't think anyone mildly fat would go about calling himself "Fatman", so I suppose I will go with the left version as well.

Well done style!

That's not "twitching"... the gameplay is actually that bad.  :=

You all are wrong.

The winner is Monkey Island 1.

In case you are forgetting, I'll remind you.

[Island shot]
[Fire pit near woods]
[Playable character enters screen]
[The game begins]

You just get thrown into the game. Awesome.

Seriously, I'm surprised we accepted that at the time, and still accept it.  I love it dearly though. There can be beauty in simplicity.
