Glad they worked out! I can't wait to see the finished game!  :)

Okay, so this is the final animation. If you see tings you want tweaked, I'll probably still be willing to do it, but it won't be anything non-animation related. These are the final vampiresses, based on Tabata's suggestions. So, if you're unhappy with them, sorry. I'm just not going to try and please everybody, because I don't think I can, especially with everyone giving me conflicting requests. I'm pretty happy with them, and to be honest, that's not ENTIRELY out of laziness. I'm known for my laziness, and it's laziness that made me take so long on the animation itself (sorry). I really do like these versions. So the animation is made up of seven mouth movements which you can tweak or order in any way you like. They're similar, but I couldn't think of a lot of ways, with the girls looking so realistic, to do the mouth movements without it looking exaggerated and facepalm-inducing silly.

All right. What I would like you guys to do is to give me a unanimous vote on what you really really want. If I keep editing the characters to each specific taste I'll never get anywhere. I don't have a problem with the critique, in fact I greatly appreciate it, but the requests are constantly changing back and forth so much that I end up going in circles on this. So yeah, get me a unanimous vote on the looks and I will make this happen. Thanks, guys! :=

Okay, so anian messaged me and we spent some time going over some improvements on the vampiresses, and he sent me an edit of a more current version I had with some ideas on how to improve them. Needless to say, I loved them, so I worked off of his edit on the blonde and reworked, again, both vampiresses, also taking into account Jackpumpkinhead's reference picture. I also took vertigoaddict's suggestion, so I made two different versions of the current blonde for you to choose between.

Because it's freaking sexy. Also, should they be looking at each other? I just realized I have no clue how you're portraying close ups; from the doctor close up I assumed that you were having characters looking at the "camera" when speaking.
#246
I did some heavy edits to get them to look more like Jackpumpkinhead originally intended. The only two things I made slightly different between the sprites and the portraits is a bit of long hair on one side, and I gave the dark-haired vampiress purple lipstick.

Let me know if these are good as the finals or not, so I can work on the talking animations.

Okay, I'll continue to work on the twins. Here's a night sky background with the game pallette. If you have any suggestions let me know.

Okay, thanks for the replies. This is what I've got so far.

So I fixed the eyes, eyebrows, and ears on both of these characters, but I decided that having them both facing the same direction would be infinitely boring, so I flipped the blonde around and reshaded and reworked her so she would be on the right side of the screen or so. So, I'm thinking of drawing in one's hand (black) resting on her bosom, and the other (blonde) biting her fingernail, but I'm not sure exactly how much animation you're planning on having for closeups, so both of those things might work against the shots. So, if you have any more suggestions, let me know.

I'm also curious on what exactly you guys want the Exit Cutscene BG, or Evening Sky to look like. I know you want Purple for it if it's night, so I'm basically wondering if you have any ideas on what you want for that, since I love drawing night shots.

Decided to give a shot at the vampiress twins closeup portraits-

Now I DO have a version of the blonde with exactly the same hairstyle, but I altered it slightly in this version in order to make her stand out in a subtle way from her sister. I have ideas for how I'll position their hands, and I may flip the blonde and reshade her to suit that, but I need feedback and suggestions before I attempt any of it. Basically I want to know if I'm on the right track or if any of these are usable. Took me well over an hour to make them.

I've not finished the game yet, as I'm stuck on the blue sphere, but I wanted to give my overall impressions so far. The game is far from perfect. It has a very plastic 3D feel, and there are times when the proportions are off in relation between characters and backgrounds....okay this is only in the shed and axe screen. However the atmosphere is pretty great, and the game did manage to make me jump a couple of times. Other than that I never really felt frightened by the threats the game produced so far. Now, let me get to what I really love about this game.

The multiple playable characters with their own take and perspective on the story. I always love this take on a game. I love to see a story from the points of view of different types of characters, and this game plays with perceptions a bit which is nice. This is also one of the most inventive games I've seen come out of AGS in a while. I can literally remember every puzzle vividly in my head so far, which is a very good thing. I can remember them so well because they're very unique, though not fully fleshed out. I went into this game with low expectations and was floored by the neat concepts used in it. This entire game is almost completely one cool idea after another, and I really really am impressed by that. You need to make more adventure games, because you really have a knack for designing them. I have found the game only moderately difficult, but I honestly don't care.

So far I give it a six out of ten. Would play again.

I really liked this one for a short game. I could see how Phantasm could make a great full-length adventure game now. Now I got to find the other endings.

I don't want to give too much away, but I can definitely confirm that you spend A Night at Camp Ravenwood.  Whether or not your stay at Ravenwood or earth lasts an entire night will be entirely up to your skill as an adventurer.  :=

I was just thinking about this the other day. Glad to hear this has a release date, although for some reason I was expecting it in 2012 due to the crazy theories about the year. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store, and if I'm right on who the mystery player character is, then I'm already grinning.  :=

Hey! Thanks for the kind words. I probably owe you an update. I'll just say that the game is still going strong, and progress is steady as always. I have been slacking a bit, but not enough to slow things up too much. Have no worries. I'll still be making this at 65 if I have to. Here are some NPC sprites, just for the fun of it.

The girl on the left is around 6 and a half to 7 foot tall, just so you know she's not mis-pixeled. Yeah, blue jeans are a common thing among a lot of the younger characters, but not everybody in the game is wearing blue jeans. :D

Hopefully soon, I'll show off a couple new screenshots, but I don't want to show off too much.

The Headhunter-

This insectoid creature attaches itself to a solid structure, such as trees, walls, cars, etc. and waits for a weak creature of some sort to wander by. Its victim of choice is a nice, helpless granny. When it feeds, its tentacles release spores into the air. When these spores come into contact with living creatures or plants, Headhunter young sprout and grow out of the bodies of whatever unlucky host contracts them. The young then slowly drain the fluids from inside the body. Truly, a nasty customer! You certainly could play as such a creature in a game, but it would be a very strange game, although I admit I don't quite understand what you mean by playable. If this ends up not qualifying, I'll just draw something different.

Fridge horror moment: Strangely enough, this specimen's latest victim seemed to enjoy her last moments on earth...what the hell?

I really like the look of this game, I will admit. The trailer was done in the best way imaginable to get me interested; parodying B-movies is always great. I kind of wish the Edisons hadn't been blue, as this reflects the NES version of Maniac Mansion, but I think I understand why you went this direction. The best of luck with this!

I love the authentic look of this. I could buy that town being a real town from the Old West. We need more adventure games with this setting, so I'm a fan of this project one hundred and one million percent.

Quote from: Secret Fawful on Sun 13/03/2011 21:37:10I won't want walkthroughs written for the game...I'm going to stand pretty firm on that point.

For the record..I will freely distribute a complete walkthrough of the game to any and everyone who requests it from me. 8)

You're fired. I'll still expect you to program the game, especially if you want to be considered a scholar and a gentleman, but you're fired just the same.

Quote from: mkennedy on Fri 18/03/2011 01:29:21Will you be able to switch characters at any time or will you just pick one at the beginning and keep that character for the whole game?

You can switch characters during the game, but not at the beginning.
