I would say that newer CnC games (Like Generals, Tiberium Wars, RA3 and CnC4) are based in the new way of thinking and for new generation players.
I think the almost all new games don't have the "magic" that was present in older ones.

I am only 26, but i was there in the 90' when all the best genres arrived and games were just to die for.

CnC has lost its magic, but we can still play the old ones. I replayed CnC 1, Ra1, Tib Sun again few months ago, and you know what, it was great experience, better than 95 % of todays games.

I lost my faith in good games few years ago when all crappy Need for Speeds, CnC 3+ and all other neon based games start to come out.

Maybe it is just me...

Well, I won't ask anything about English :).

But if you think English is strange I will give one example from my language (Slovenian) that a lot of languages don't have.


In English you use:   He, she or it -> for 1 person (thing)
                                 They -> for 2,3,4 or more persons

In Slovenian we use:  On, ona -> for 1 person
                                   Onedva, onidve -> for 2 persons
                                   Oni, One -> for 3 or more persons

I must say that English is not that hard to understand. And some things are far easier to explain in english than a slovenian language. And we have a lot of rules on how to place "commas", which I hate :).

No extra commands were used (speechfont...) only text translation..


edit: I found it, there is a typo under //#NormalFont as the CJ suggested...

Story:

John Shakemaster is trapped in a moving train in some distant planet, colonized by humans a while ago.
He can't remember how he actually got there, but after a while he gets the idea that there must be a good reason for him to be present on that train. Very scary things begin to happen on random.

Thats why you must be really prepared to start a new project !
I have started three and finished them all ! Well if i look back i would change a lot, now. But you can't do everything you want.
If you start new project and don't finish him, this will be happening all over again in the future project ...

I do reset object position after you RE ENTER the room, or EXIT room, but after you re enter the room you can see object for half a second and than it dissapears !? Strange.

Hey

Being using this module wiht AGS 3.1 and in one of the rooms works OK, but when I use it in another room in work OK when player visits room for the first time !!! BUt when I re-enter the room background object dissapears !!!

So I used DISPLAY function to display coordinates of the object, original are 69,206 - but when I reenter the room it changes to 115,445 (thats why object isn't visible)!! I really don't get it !
Game resolution is 800x600.

Dead ends (and deaths) are the main reason why I NEVER played Sierra games, I just hate it.
I agree, If you must "die" you should be warned first, as i did in my games  ;)

Or at least autosavegame should be made in case of "dead end".


OK it sound more realistic but games must adapt to that, the whole point is to play and have fun with game, not furstration when it kicks you in your balls !

I agree, I always hate if the game has only 1 autosave options, as it can get corrupted. And than you are scr..ed !
10 to 20 slots sounds resonable... at least for me.

Here is my cup:

1. I always liked 320x200 (240) res adventure games more than anything higher. I grew up with them I found out that they can offer me much more than any newer commercial adventure game.
I still think that The Dig and Fate of Atlantis are the best adventure games ever made, with rich graphics, great story and warm and fuzzy filling of a AMAZING GAME (ok Monkey Island too :) ).
Anyways, I don't like where today games are going (all genres). A lot of them feel empty and far too much commercialized. And we are getting the "same" game all over again and again, repacked... they just feel empty !
I am sorry but games have become a great place to earn money and it shows on the products. Although not all is that bad, some games are great (like Half Life 2...). But you rarely see any good adventure these days.

2. For us, hobby game makers it is hard to draw graphics in high resolution Most of the people want to draw it with mouse not use fancy expensive software that can draw instead of them.
You know how much harder is to draw 640x480 than 320x240 ? Let me say, A LOT. And it takes a lot of free time, even  this low res games are very time consuming. And if not done properly a higher resolution will give you far worse results.

Only english letters are supported, the nature of the AGS engine and fonts, sorry.

Best solution is that you remove AVI file from games directory (watch intro.avi with media player or something...).
