Hello,
I've been playing Visitor 3, nice game.
I'm stuck, though, and I need help!  This is where I am:
Spoiler
Head and Moss have arrived to that ship(?) with escape pods, head went through the almost closed door and then got the thing on its face. Then I talked to Moss and now Moss has it on his face! I entered the code into the terminals and activated something. I entered the vent with the Head but I can't seem to do anything there because of the alien with one of the agent's head. I clicked on everything and used mint on everything. Moss can't do anything because of the alien on his head, and he needs a voice command to activate terminals and escape pods. HELP!!!

Answer:

Spoiler
Send Head through the vent in the room at the far left. If you can get him through the elevator shaft (solving a few puzzles on the way) then he will meet up with Moss and be able to help him. They will be meeting up in the room to the far right of the room with the escape pods

I'm being a bit vague here hoping that this will steer you in the right direction, under the assumption that you just want a hint rather than full solution. If you're still stuck then post again!

To add to what Mandle said:

Spoiler
once the generator is fixed, the description of the generator still indicates that it's broken and there is still a dialogue option with Bobby that indicates that it's broken

As well I had the game shut down with an AGS error near the area where you lure the rat

I just finished playing this game and I really enjoyed it. I liked that the NPCs all had very distinct personalities. The art and animation was done well. I liked the light-hearted and sometimes silly nature of the game. The puzzles were mostly at a good level where they took some effort but never became impossible or overly frustrating. The in-game tip system (lantz) and the minigames were a nice touch.

I experienced the bug that I think was described above where the ability to select an icon (such as walk, look, etc) disappears. Another possible bug but I'm not sure:

Spoiler
At the end when you're looking for Hobo Joe, he shows on the map but when you go to the location indicated on the map he is never there. He did start speaking a few times at the location where he was supposed to be but he wasn't there! The way I found him in the end was because I saw his reflection in the barber shop and I decided to talk to where he should have been based on the reflection and the game continued.

I'm not sure if this was deliberate.

Anyway, great job!

I'm enjoying this game but I am stuck:

Spoiler
I can't get the guy out of the bar. Lantz tells me to go to the comic store and find something to make the bar smell bad. I've sniffed around the comic store but I'm stumped. The saddle smells bad, it seems. Maybe the sandwich? I don't know what to do here.

Edited to add that I've combined the newspaper with the rubber and I know I have to ignite it. I just need to make it smell worse.

Edited to say never mind, I solved it!

Thank you

I just played this game.

My comments will basically be in line with what everyone else said:

Really cool different interface. Graphics and animations really stood out.

Not much of a puzzle game but definitely creepy!

My thoughts about the game:

- The most outstanding point of this game is the gorgeous graphics and detailed animations. I am usually looking more at plot and puzzle quality when I rate a game but the art in this game is just so beautiful and the animations so smooth that this is the first point I want to make!
- Along with the beautiful graphics, the environment is superbly enhanced by the music and perfect sound effects.
- The puzzles are good. I enjoyed them and found some of them to be fresh and creative. The difficulty level was very appropriate. I had to ask for a hint and needed one other hint from an existing post on the forum but otherwise was able to solve them and I found them enjoyable. There is a good mix between inventory and dialogue puzzles.
- The plot was adequate. A good plot is what makes a game a compelling experience and distinguishes it from a disjoint set of puzzles in different rooms.
Spoiler
In this case, the main story, despite the captivating details, is still a fairly simple story with little more to the main plot.

One small point:
- Some of the French has not been translated. You might want to play the English version again and just touch up those 4 or 5 lines

Overall, I would strongly recommend this delightful game. It was absolutely a pleasure to play. I am looking forward to playing more from this author.

Bravo, tres bien!

I've looked at the walkthrough but still extremely stuck
Spoiler
I've put the basket in the outhouse and climbed the roof trying to throw the giblets to the wolf. When I attempt to throw it to the left she will throw it and walk out of the screen and climb back down but the wolf doesn't follow?!?!
[close]

Thanks for the tip! I was stuck at the same place and solved it thanks to your suggestion.

Spoiler
you have to make a trail of giblets. So, stand on the roof and throw one to the left, then back to the garden and while still up there, throw one to each location leading to the outhouse until the wolf follows.

I'm completely stuck on
Spoiler
the painting with the religious scenes. I assume that the cross stations in the church correspond to the events in the painting but it's next to impossible to guess what exactly is going on in the painting. For example, I see a Jesus on the ground with the cross. Is this Jesus carrying the cross or Jesus falling the first, second or third time? The other events are just as ambiguous. I can't use the bible for help as she says that she doesn't know where to look and I can't speak to the priest. Am I missing something or is the player just supposed to know what's depicted in the sections of the painting?

Thank you

Upon completing the game, here are my thoughts:

Overall, I really enjoyed the game. I like the creativity of the extra actions such as use power, attack and push. The graphics and animation are just perfect for this game. The amount of destruction, where destruction is usually the solution to things :), is just satisfying. But in addition to the fun interface and environment, the humour was very entertaining, I did notice the Canadian reference in there. As far as the puzzles, they actually were right in that spot where you had to do some thinking to solve them without getting to the point of being frustrating or unreasonable. I realize that this is one of the most challenging parts of designing a game because it's impossible to know how the user approaches the puzzle, so kudos for that!

Unfortunately I did get stuck at a dead end that was a result of a glitch. I'm glad I asked and found out what went wrong so I could load and try again.

Anyway, overall a great job!

Cheers

I just double checked:

Spoiler
- I definitely do not have the tree in inventory. I clicked the up and down arrows just to make sure it's not hiding or something
- I attacked every tree and it says I have enough splinters in my torso

Any suggestions? I have a lot of saved games and if something's wrong I can revert to one. How fr back would I need to revert?

Did you try attacking the tree? To chop it down of course  ;) ,

Yes, many times....it says that he doesn't want splinters or something. Is there either a hotspot you need to interact with or something you need to do first?

What I've done successfully so far:

I have gotten up to the roof. I am able to attack the fence which causes the gun to shoot (and sometimes jam, which I can release). The spaceship evades the bullet so I must be missing something.

I just finished playing. All I can say is AWESOME short game! Really polished graphics and animation. Cute puzzles and dialogues. I got stuck at the same place as Cassie and splat (I do wonder why that didn't emerge during testing) but it took less than 5 minutes to catch up to the point of the bug and continue.

Really well done!

I finished the game. Here are my comments:

JACK brings the player back to Victorian England on the hunt for the notorious Jack the Ripper. Playing as Detective Charles Davenport (whom you may know from Deadly Consequences), follow clues, solve puzzles and use intuition (and your nose) to track down the infamous killer. I would describe this game as being slightly shorter than a medium-length game.

WHAT I LIKED

- The graphics created a great feel for this murder mystery. They really captured and put the user in the environment. I happen to be a big Sherlock Holmes fan and this game seems to try to capture the feel of the time period and the Sherlock Holmes games.
- The puzzles, while simple, were fun and well-designed. The plot was captivating. I feel that the ratio of puzzles to plot was good and the plot was appropriate for the length of the game.
- Music scores fit well. I think I recognized at least one from Deadly Consequences?
- Great mixture of dialogue and inventory based puzzles.
- Attention to detail is something that really must be noted. The suspect and victim lists with all their details, the navigation and play system really show a lot of careful design and planning.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

- The script should have been reviewed by someone who speaks English as a first language for spelling and punctuation. I pointed out seven spelling errors and as I kept playing I encountered many more. To many players, spelling errors really remove the polish from a game that looks like a lot of work and effort went into the attention to detail. Even loading the script into a word processor with a spell check would have caught almost all of them.
- I was unable to use the Case Notes for about half the game. (see above - I did not have any filters on; I used the default settings)
- There are some areas that could be tidied up, such as hotspots marked "Hotspot 13"

SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS

I found the fact that you limited the player's choices of Locations to those that have tasks to be completed interesting. Personally, I happen to like the fact that this focuses the playing time on solving puzzles and completing missions rather than wandering. Some people may criticize this gameplay as making the game "easy" or "linear" because it removes your choices. I happen to prefer this style because I get bored when games are more "open", simply meaning that you spend oodles of time wandering and repeating actions just in case you missed something rather than progressing. Just my feeling.

I also thought that the navigation system was interesting. Rather than a walking-based navigation where rooms lead to another room, all rooms
Spoiler
with the exception of the theatre and a bit at the beach
[close]
are one-room locations and the player navigates by choosing from a list of locations. This is neither good nor bad, just an interesting navigation system.

CONCLUSION

I feel that JACK is well worth playing for anyone who likes mystery style games who wants to play an almost medium length game. It's a bit easier than many comparable games, making it a great choice for players who are newer to the adventure genre. A bit of cleaning up of some detail could improve this game.

Personal note to Slasher: I've been playing your games ever since the Elf series 2 1/2 years ago and each one is a marked improvement over the previous one. Congrats on your persistence and achieving the ranks of a skilled adventure-game developer. I'm looking forward to your next release.

Good job!
