Maybe the little yellow guy still has a job to do?

Hmmm...
Spoiler
I can't reach the rope and I can't interact with him. Anything I do Tobias says he doesn't want to harm him. What am I missing...?

Spoiler
It's like a cm in size. I felt it was OK :)

This is true. The reason I call it pixel hunting is not because of the size of the area. It's because
Spoiler
when an item appears to be one hotspot, then you assume that in order to interact with it, you can click ANYWHERE on the item. There's no reason to assume that you have to click a specific region within the item. If puzzles were designed that they only work if you click a specific 1 cm square of a larger item, then it would be almost impossible to play a game because you would never know what small box to click

Anyway, I did get past it. But I am stuck again:

Spoiler
I'm in the room with the witch. So far I put 3 keys in the box: the one from the witch, the one from under the mat and the one from the guy in the chimney. I cut the rope with the scissors and he says "ta da" but I don't see any way to progress. I've resorted to trying all items from inventory on each other and all over the room but to no avail

Any hints?

It's not really a smoke-screen :)
Spoiler
I have included two slightly annoying point&click traditions at separate places in the game. One is books - books - book - books, just slightly more forgiving. And not with books.

And, it's named "console" in newer versions. Had some clean-up.

I solved this one by pixel hunting.

Thank you

Spoiler
(1)Look at the flying saucer from far away...You will see some laundry drying on a line...I wonder if there are any pants there?
(2) The "consolls": You just need to keep using them until they open a door. There is no puzzle.
(3) You need to give the green guy a gold coin.
[close]

Hope those help a bit...I can be more specific if you need more help ;)

1) So I noticed but have no way to get there
2) That's true for the first one. The larger one doesn't seem to work that way. He says not to punch buttons randomly and to look more closely. I am completely stumped
3) Sounds like a plan. I just don't happen to have one! :)

Any suggestions?

Thank you

SHADOW

Spoiler
(2) That comment about "looking closer" is just a smoke-screen I believe. I did multiple clicks on the large console of both LOOK and USE icons and a door opened in the floor.

(You must get through this door to get closer to your goals in (1) and (3)...
[close]

Ah, that explains why I'm stuck.

Anyway, I tried looking and using the consoll about 10 times and nothing happened. I don't think anyone else got stuck here so there must be a way to open the door. I wonder if there's something else you have to do or some inventory thing to make it work?

I'm stuck.

Spoiler
There are three areas that I cannot solve and I'm at a standstill. The solutions may be related 1) The alien who needs his pants; 2) The "consoll" cloud in the same room (may be related); 3) The green dude who wants something but won't tell you what. I assume that the coloured goo mixing machine is related. I have the vegetables. I got the scrap from the glass machine and the one from the castle. I put the straw in the can with the tape

Can someone pass me a hint as to what to do next? I think I've tried everything but no avail.

Thank you

Now that I've completed the game, here are my comments:

The two strong points of the game are the art and puzzles. As others have pointed out, the creativity in designing the environment is excellent. One poster compared the art to Dr. Seuss and in many places I have to agree. The "weirdo" definitely looks like something out of Dr. Seuss, for example. I can only imagine the amount of time and effort it took to design that many rooms and characters to perfection.

The puzzles were excellent. Designing well-thought out puzzles that will make the player think while are yet solvable is probably one of the biggest challenges in developing a good game. This game has a very good balance, especially in a non-realistic, quirky environment where anything could happen.

As far as weaknesses, posters including the author pointed out the lack of sound. My recommendation is not to bother with speech acting. Some appropriate background music and appropriate sound effects would have brought up the value of this game immensely. There are so many things that happen in the game (crashes, things falling, etc) that can have some sounds that really would have taken the environment to the next level.

My other concern is that I found that there was a lot of inconsistency in the game. Almost every room was like another world and context. This may have been somewhat deliberate to give the game its quirky feel but I found it somewhat jarring. In a similar vein, the game had almost no story. The crazy worlds are sort of explained a bit all the way at the end but there didn't seem to be much of a plot or thread that progresses as you proceed in the game. In my opinion (people are free to disagree, of course), a thread or plot is what really draws the player into the game and makes the difference between a "game" and "a collection of rooms with puzzles you have to solve to proceed".

That said, this is definitely one of the best "first games"  I've ever seen! I look forward to more games from the author in the future.

The graphics and puzzles in this game are excellent and I'm really enjoying it.

Unfortunately, the game crashed and I have to start from my last save, which is quite some time ago.

The crash occurred when I was
Spoiler
in the room with the clouds and aliens, clicking on the large console (spelled consoll in the game). I had just picked up the small cloud and tried pressing buttons on the console and it crashed

I finished the game and enjoyed it. I will post my comments when I have a chance. However, I want to report that a number of times (I think they were all after cutscenes) the speech stopped working. I had to save my game and then reload in order to get the speech working again.

If it helps, I was playing version 1, as you said that 1.1 wouldn't work with my saves. Of course the fact that speech is the only way to know what's going on made this bug even worse :)

If I download the new game, can I restore from my current save point or do I have to start over?

Subtitles appear if you turn off speech in setup, but that defies the purpose of voice acting.

I didn't know that. Which brings up my second point is that the interface should have more user-friendly control. And I agree: the voice acting is done really well and I don't want to lose that.

It seems like you can skip ahead with the spacebar.

This is true. However, if you skip, then you don't know what the player said. If I could read the subtitle, I can know what the person is saying in a fraction of the time and then choose whether to skip the talking.

I downloaded this game again after you posted the new link.

I'm really enjoying how the story unfolds. The puzzles are somewhat simple so far. The voice acting is excellent; I would consider it a feature of the game. I really like the background graphics. Murray looks a bit weird how his legs move when he walks.

My only real criticism of the game is that although the voice acting is done really well, subtitles are very important. It really drags things out if all dialogue in the game is read by the actors rather than allowing the player to read and skip the rest of the message. Furthermore, sometimes a few words here and there are missed because of the background music.

As well, there should be a standard menu where the user can save, load and quit the game, and possibly turn on or off the subtitles. Many of us happen to know about F5 and F9 and CTRL Q but I'm sure that many players will just have no idea how to save or restore a game.

Cheers

Looks great from the screenshots and description.

The file host you're using gives you the choice of buying a subscription or downloading using the slow download, which is estimated at 51 minutes. Personally, I will hold off until I can download it, but I am looking forward to playing when I get a chance.

I had a similar experience. I deleted after about 5 minutes. I didn't see any puzzles, sprites, gameplay or anything. I didn't get past the fact that there is a picture of a man that you can click on and talk to. I pixel hunted the screen and gave up.

I still am unable to download :( the link doesn't work.

Edited to say that it did work eventually. I installed and played it. Very polished and well done.

I finally got around to redownloading it and playing. I did have a few laughs. Thanks for the nod of recognition at the end and congrats on winning. :)

I found this game to be unplayable in its current state. When you perform tasks, the game does not seem to know that you have completed the task. You can get the same item from the same place an unlimited number of times. I gave all 3 items to mother and she keeps asking for them. Once I ate the food and spoke to mother again, the game crashed.

I think this game needs some testing and fine tuning before it's ready to be played.

Good luck

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I've been incredibly busy.

Thank you. I finished the demo. The graphic style, music/sound, and humour were great. I don't think that the demo was enough to get an idea of the story so it's hard to comment on that. Verb Coin interface is not my preference. I'd rather fewer options (left click - interact, right click - look) than to have to select an action from a menu. The puzzles in this game were not very logical but I'm assuming that they are not indicative of the game overall.

Can anyone give me the areas that power cells are found.  I am at the end game (I think) but only have 5 cells.  I have been to all the areas again but can't see it.  Please give me a clue.

In the room where you enter the globes, there is a map on the wall. If you look at it carefully, you'll see a map of the island, indicating where the mysterious objects are located. The one you are missing will be highlighted.

If you want more detail, please say so.
