I think we're talking about two different things here.

My question:

Spoiler
I finished the game and got a "bad" ending because I killed the shark. is there a way to get past the shark without using the harpoon and killing it so I can get a good ending? I am not even sure that there IS a good ending, so I'm inquiring.

I was guessing that you can get rid of it using the seaweed and you confirmed that. I'm just not sure how. Your instructions were for later in the game as to getting past the barrier, which I succeeded the first time I played the game.
[close]

Is this more clear now? :)

Yes, something to do with that :)

Ok, how about a hint? :)

Spoiler
I can't combine the seaweed with anything in inventory. I can't use it with any of the items in the rooms I have access to currently. I don't know how to proceed

Ok, I finished and did not get a good ending.

Spoiler
I suppose she got upset because I killed the shark at the beginning. How do you get past it without killing it? Something to do with the seaweed, I suppose?

I'm not quite grasping the concept.
Spoiler
each of the four "maps" on the wall is missing one colour. Once I've identified which it's missing (btw - green/yellow look the same to me), how do I know which section on the big wheel has to be filled with skulls of the corresponding colour?

Example, let's say the wheel on the top left is missing white. How do I know on the big wheel which section should be filled with white-eyed skulls?
[close]

I'll try to explain it a little more clearly...
Spoiler

Each of the smaller wheels on the wall has all five colours on it.  The centre circle is colour 1, the sectors above and below the centre circle are colour 2, those to left and right of the centre are colour 3, the other ring is colour 4, and the four boxes are colour 5.  The colours for each section are different on each wheel, and as there are only four wheels, there is one (different) colour missing for each section.  You have to fill in that missing colour on each section of the big wheel.
[close]

I hope that is clear.

Ohhh...thanks for dummying it down for me. I get it now!

I will post my general comments on the game in the main forum.

I got stuck at the same place.

Spoiler
I did notice by playing around that the eyes of the skull light up with different colours depending on where you took the skull from. I also noticed maps on the wall that correspond to the layout of the skull wheel. Other than that, I have no clue what's to be done. As well, I, like many others, can't see colours well enough to do anything if the colours are part of solving this puzzle so I hope that being able to relate the colour to what's on the map is not critical or I will have to ask someone for help
[close]

I am very sorry...
Spoiler

colour is important in this, and a few other of the puzzles in my game.  The four other wheel symbols on the wall are coloured with a combination of five colours - red, green, blue, yellow and white.  In each symbol different sections are in a different colour, so that for each section there are four colours on display.  The aim of the puzzle is to fill each section of the large 'skull' wheel with skulls whose eyes light in the missing colour for that section.
[close]

If you can't find anyone to help you with the puzzle, I could create a plan of the wheel with the skulls numbered, so that you could complete it that way.

I'm not quite grasping the concept.

When you put the skulls on the plinth, look at their eyes.  Then have a look at the whole wall pattern and see if anything occurs to you.

I would appreciate a hint in the right direction. I am enjoying the game so far. I can see you put a lot of work into it.

Thanks,

I got past it without detecting the exact pattern just by watching the steps and timing advancement accordingly based on when I thought a step might fail on me. That also took a few steps backward sometimes before advancing. It took a number of tries but I did complete it :)

I am stuck in Montezuma as well. I'm in level 2 and I have the rope. I want to get the other items but I can't seem to put the rope down. I figured that if I go to the place where I picked it up, it should glow, allowing me to put it down, but no such luck. I can't seem to continue.

One thing I don't understand about this level is
Spoiler
that even without the pickaxe or explosives, I can just walk to the left to Level 3
[close]
. Is this supposed to happen?

If you want to get rid of the rope...
Spoiler

there is a hook on the wall in Level 2 (where the rope was hanging).  It is a little tricky to find the hotspot, but it should be there.  However, you may prefer to take the rope to Level 3 and try running your mouse over the log across the ravine.
Yes, once you have opened up the way to Level 3 you can walk between the levels with or without anything in your hand.
[close]
...just be careful with those bangers!

I tried what you suggested about the hook but after 15 minutes, no luck so I gave up. I'll continue as suggested and see where that takes me.

Thank you :)

Hi Shadow,

Quote1) I don't understand how the pills are supposed to work. I started by taking one whenever the heart started beating and he said "I needed that pill" but that never stopped the heart from beating. How many pills are necessary? How many are necessary to get to Tasan?
You can / should keep taking the pills whilst your heart is still beating hard until it stops. You should then say something like you should save them until you really need them.

When you go to confront Tasan it will depend on your anxiety level as to how many pills you will need to take to calm right down and proceed.

Quote2) Conversely, I never saw any negative consequence of not taking the pills. Other than to get to Tasan, why do I need the pills?
If you except the fact that when your anxiety level soars high and your heart is pumping away it should give you a sort of an 'alarming urgency' which the pills can help calm down. Light also calms you down a bit.

Your anxiety level, heart pounding and pills are used mainly for 'effect', and of course you do need to be calm before you face Tasan.

Quote3) Lastly, if I download the updated version, will my progress be lost or can I just continue?
I think that with the new amount of pills in Version 2 your saves will not support this.

I am sorry but hope you have the stamina to begin again and that you find the game acceptably rewarding.

Thank you for your post.

Cheers

slasher

Had I known that it's just "effect" I would have just not taken any till the end when I need them. That way I would not have been in a dead end. Had I taken them every time the heart started beating and kept taking enough to make it stop, I would have completely run out long before I got to where I am!

I don't think I will start over. I did enjoy it but it's disappointing to have to play from the beginning because of a flaw in the game design.

Good luck on your next game!

Hi Shadow,

whilst I have never ran out of anxiety pills myself someone else did report this to me.

When you see your heart beating you will need to keep taking the pills until your heart disappears.

I have uploaded a NEW version (V2) with more pills so you should be able to complete the game and I hope you'll try with the latest version and face Tasan.

As I have said, I myself have never ran out.

I do appreciate your report Shadow and I am glad you brought this to my attention and that you will download and finish the game, you were awfully close.

I hope you will leave your comments after you finish the game .

I am at the end of the tunnel. I seem to be stuck as it says that I can't face Tasan when I'm this anxious. I've taken all the anxiety pills (those never affected my anxiety level, so I'm not sure what they do) so that's not the solution.

Please help

All I got from the download link was an HTML file, actually.

This is my first attempt at doing this so for sure I messed something up uploading it. Here is a RapidShare link: The Pubicle.exe

Well, congrats, then! Great first game. The puzzles were constructed well and I had a few laughs. The game took about 30 minutes to complete. No problem about there not being sound. Good luck on your future games :)
