Ah, I know!

Spoiler

You must've missed the scene in front of Belldog Mall where he clochard drops something into the trashcan.
[close]

Yup, that did it. I remember seeing the guy briefly but didn't notice what he "deposited".

Thank you

Spoiler

Hm, have you got the needed info from him? That is, who has the necklace now?
[close]

Yes.

Spoiler

Have you been to the Feder Square?
[close]

Yes and I saved and spoke to the reporter.

Spoiler

Have you talked to Mulkin about the day's happenings?
[close]

Yes

Spoiler
If it helps, whenever I speak to him I keep asking him about Gaelish Balsaad

For most of the game there have been clear goals and where there aren't, you can smoke to find out. Right now there doesn't seem to be anything to do. Nothing to solve or any way to progress.

Ok, now I'm stuck :)

How do I get the password to La Bookery? I don't even know where to start.

Spoiler
the smoking hint says to try getting it from a patron. I assume the guy wandering around is a patron but he's afraid of me
[close]

Any hints of where to start?

I'm a bit confused -- are you stuck with something now?

Nope...I'm moving along in the game. I posted when I was stuck but I edited my post as I figured out the 2 things I was stuck on.

Thank you

I'm stuck

1) I don't know how to:
Spoiler
bite someone in the park. It says to "hide in the shadows and act quick". I don't have enough blood to use the speed and strength skill. I've spent about 40 minutes trying to hide (it's the only way people don't avoid you) and then jump someone but I'm missing something because they always run.
[close]

2) I don't know
Spoiler
what to interview Dr Mulkins about that he will find interesting.
[close]

If there's a clue that I've missed then I can wait but other than these things I don't know of anything else to do in the game.

SHADOW

Edit: I figured out item 1. Somehow I suddenly am able to...

Edited again: Last time I used the

Spoiler
money from Joe to buy the screwdriver.
[close]
and I was completely stuck. I restored the game and then
Spoiler
used the money to get into the internet cafe and now I know the answer to item 2.

Had I bought the screwdriver, would I have been at a dead end??

Thank you :)

I just finished the game.

This game completely sets a new standard for adventure games. I don't have enough praise for how awesome this game is. I'll try to write my comments when I have a chance over the weekend.

I plan to play again to get more points and trophies and enjoy the experience again :)

I finished with about 684 points and 3 trophies. I had to consult the walkthrough for hints about 5 times. The puzzles were clever and well-designed and logical enough that with enough persistence I figured out the rest independently (which is how a good adventure game should be)

Many thanks to those who put in all that hard work over the years!

Ok, never mind...got past that...thank you

The game looks great but after about 40 minutes, I haven't been able to do ANYTHING at all in the game! I know this isn't the hints forum but can someone provide a clue as to where to start??

SHADOW

Well, I finished the game with 225 points. I guess some tasks that earn you points were not necessary? Or there are better endings if you complete them?

SHADOW

I guess it's just there for fun, then. I'll pass on the last treasure. Thank you :)

The map on the hint site shows where to get them all but I don't know what treasure i'm looking for or where to find it so I'd have to start from the beginning again and follow the map.

Onwards..

I'm distracted playing the mini-game. I have all the treasures except for whatever is on the right column in the treasure list between the silver cup and the shell. Does anyone know where to find it? I'm going over and over in circles!

What I did to get to the elevator is to press the down arrow and then immediately the right arrow and just leave it till he gets to the next room.

I press the down arrow so I'm not in the hand's reach.

In the setup, choose the x4 filter, this should change the displayed resolution to 1280x800.

Yay, that worked! Thanks, Khris

Now I'm stuck in the canyon maze :)

I'm having trouble getting this to run in full screen. I'm trying on several computers with different monitors/cards/OS and no luck. What is the intended graphics card specs?

Thanks shadow! I appreciate your roundup. Noted stuff... I agree it needs a little more balance and I'm hoping to add that sort of thing in an update. I appreciate you playing this early version of it though and glad you found some (simplistic) enjoyment  :)

I think that a lot of the fun came from the experience. There's a lot of potential here to really push the envelope on Adventure games.

Amazed at how long it took you but really pleased you kept on going!

Most attempts to get "there" (i.e. from bottom right to top left) took only a few minutes. But I got stuck getting "back" (i.e. top left to bottom right) each time. I still don't know

Spoiler
what the definition of being "caught" by a robot is. I know that you don't have to physically contact a robot to be caught, but it seems that sometimes being on the same row or column as a robot will get you out and sometimes not, and sometimes if you are on the same row/column as a robot, you won't get out if the robot is facing away from you and sometimes you will. This inconsistency made it very very time consuming to get through this section, and you have to do it around 4 times

Just to repeat, no problem mixing in other game styles into the adventure game. I like the variety it provides. I just don't like when one part of a game takes such a huge proportion of the game play time.

So you know I had tried other walk/look cursors, but after trying various types, only one really seemed to work....default AGS :P Interesting that you mention that.

What do you mean by "seemed to work"? Do you mean technically or visually?

QuoteBetter puzzle structure is coming in Passage of Saints (tomorrow!)

Can't wait :)

QuoteBut it's great it has been played by yourself and others. TEH THANKS!

I hope no one felt I was being critical. I was very positive on the game because despite the few things I raised, I had a great time playing it. My feedback was just ways that (to me, at least) you can get a more polished game.

Good luck on future games

Finished the game. That was AWESOME!

It took me just under 2 hours to complete the game

My comments:

- The objectives were pretty clear (perhaps a bit too linear at times) which meant no wandering and the game kept moving.

- The puzzles were a bit simplistic and obvious but still fun. There could have been more inventory items.

- The graphics and music were very immersive. The 3D feel really added to the game

In the 2 hours of gameplay, I spent about 40 minutes at the end getting past the robots over and over. I think that it's ok to have a "shift" from adventure game to arcade style play but the proportion of gameplay is just unbalanced as a result.

My last point for consideration is that considering the exceptional graphics, I'm surprised that the look/use/walk icons were the default AGS icons rather than something that fit the game a bit better. For the extensive effort that clearly went into this game, this point may help bring some more polish to the overall feel.

In all, I had a WONDERFUL experience playing this game. THANK YOU to all those involved!
