Spoiler
You get the rare coin from the same place as the others.  You have to play both games to get the coin that Jack wants
[close]

This should not happen and, as far as I know, did not happen during testing.  If you can let me have details of exactly where that happened,

Sounds like I am on the right track, then, and I just need to get past this one phase. I'll continue in PM. Thank you :)

. The game could be categorized as a game for older children, though I hope adults enjoy it, too.

Ok that's what I thought.

I have to take issue with the use of a computer game to evangelize children. I am very much in favour of freedom of religion, freedom of expression, sharing of ideas and so on. Had the game not been aimed for children, I wouldn't care if there are messages promoting a specific religion inserted in the game with no connection to the story or gameplay, solely for the purpose of promoting the religion. However, I feel that it's wrong to approach children in a playground and hand them religious material and tell them how they need to share your beliefs to be saved, regardless of what faith you are. A Sunday school church setting or with the parents' consent is one thing, but using a computer game to toss that message in gratuitously is inappropriate. If you do remake the game, I would remove those segments.

I'm afraid the answer to your second point is that you will have to complete Gem Collector to continue the game.  It is a logic puzzle rather than a true arcade game - it does not have to be done in a certain time (unlike Alien Invaders).  If you are really stuck and can send me a screenshot of where you are stuck I will give you a hint or two to get you unstuck.  I would hate you to give up on the game.  :~(
elentigrl

I appreciate that kind offer! I might take you up on it. I just have trouble figuring out the logic: Sometimes you can push boulders, sometimes you can't. Sometimes 2 stacked will have the top one fall arbitrarily to the right or left (usually it's direction that will crush the player :() Sometimes you can walk through them and sometimes you can't walk in an empty space.

I'll try to send a screenshot when I have a chance. Thanks again :)

You only need the prize of one of the machines, but I can't remember which.

My advice is save before playing the arcade, and go for it. It might not happen again. I wasn't able to repeat that crash bug after it crashed the first time I played it. So there's a good chance it won't crash for you again either. And use the cheat, if you don't want/need to do full score in a one run.  ;)

I beat the space invader game but I
Spoiler
can't figure out what to do with the coins

I really hope it's not the gem collector game because after 40 minutes, I don't see any way to get more than halfway and I've lost interest in trying.

I finished playing today. My comments are pretty much in line with heltenjon. The game starts out appearing as a simple game with a unique story but as it unfolds, you realize that this is a LONG game! The variety of puzzles ranges from typical inventory based puzzles to word games, riddles, memory, logic and much more.

My personal advice would have been to spend more development time on polishing up the graphics and less on creating a game of such length.

I do have another comment, but I want to first confirm: the story and many of the puzzles seem to be geared for children (perhaps older elementary school age) rather than adults, is this correct?

Alright. I'll try playing again. The last time I played a good game of Space Invaders was an April 2020 MAGS entry called "Over Roger" so this will be fun....

I hope this can be corrected!

I am very sorry that you suffered this crash, Shadow1000 - it occurred once during testing but I was unable to discover the cause (even when the tester sent me the error message details), and niether of us was able to repeat it.
I put in a small check to stop what Ithought might be causing it, but obviously I was wrong.  I shall have to do some more examination and testing of the code to see if I can exterminate this irritating bug.  ???

I hope this has not put you off continuing with the game.

Hi Elen

I definitely want to continue the game. Does that mean that this particular task is not necessary for continuing?

QuoteThis part is not clear.

Spoiler
It actually isn't possible to help the sad student. You can't get an essence from him. His purpose in the game is to remind the player of what will happen to many people if the Tormentors aren't stopped once and for all.

By the garbage bin in one of the other rooms, there is a little pile of gray fluff. If you use food or medicine on that fluff, it turns out to really be a sick, starving mouse. This mouse needs a new home inside of a tree stump in the woods where the lumberjack is. You can use the screwdriver on a weak spot in the stump to dig a hole, then place the mouse into the hole. Did you solve that puzzle and get the Essence of Home?
[close]

Yes, I solved that one. I'm not sure what to do now.

I am stuck again.

Spoiler
I have to collect 10 essences. I assume this means other than the essence of imagination? I have 9 plus that one. The only person I haven't helped is the sad student. It says that there might be some imagination in the amulet. I tried using it on him and defeat the tormentors but I don't know how to help him

Congrats on the release! I've been playing since Sunday and enjoying every minute of it.

Until it crashed :(

Spoiler
I got a score of 440 in the Space Invaders game and the game shut down and it said that it was a bug

I hope this can be corrected!

I'm stuck at the repressed dreams where there are buttons on the wall and stones on the floor beneath them. I passed the first room, but have no clue about the order of button pushes in the second. Am I supposed to brute force it?

Edit: This is while playing as a sea otter.

Wow! I’m actually stuck in the same place! Some good puzzles and a really long game so far.

Spoiler
I tried ascending order, descending, odds then evens, evens then odds, clicking the number of times as rocks. No go so far...

I finished the game!

- Graphics are pleasant to look at, as always.
- Extra points for a creative story
- Definitely meets the theme for the competition.
- I think the strongest point is the personalities of the characters. Both COMPLETE opposites and I felt really bad for him being forced to marry a complete b---h like her... :(
- It took some time and help to get into it, but some of the puzzles were fun! There is certainly a lot to do in a one-roomer game like this!

Any lack of polish (no pun intended here) in the design is completely understandable considering the time constraint of completing the game by month-end.

Overall, well done. Something tells me that this game will win this month's MAGS...

This might be a left-click / right-click issue. In order to find the alarm clock, I've coded that
Spoiler
Bumbly must EXAMINE (right-click on) the spot under the bed.

INTERACTING (left-click) won't work (Bumbley will think that you want him to dust there and won't see the point of that)
USING INVENTORY won't work either without having examined the spot first (Bumbley will think that you want to deposit the book there for bedtime reading).
[close]

I seem to have missed that. Thank you! :)

I am confused about your first suggestion of
Spoiler
standing on the nighttable and looking under the canopy

How does that participate in the solution...?

Spoiler
is there any way to read the book?

I don't know exactly where you're stuck.

So far the only progress I've made in the game is to
Spoiler
find a book, move the nighttable around, and turn on and off the lightswitch

. I've tried interacting with each hotspot (there are actually a LOT of them for one room) and using the one inventory item on them and I don't see any way to progress.

So here goes:

It says something about

tasteful nudes. This is true when the nighttable is on the far right or middle position, with the lights on or off

Am I missing something?

These shoes are made for talking...  (laugh)

Very funny so far, but I haven't managed to solve it on my two first goes. I'll have to ponder it overnight.

Same here. I spent about 40 minutes and can't find anything to do other than look at things,
Spoiler
get a book that you can't read, and move a nighttable around

. I assume there's more to it?

Oh sorry for the confusion. I thought you were in the full game and partially ahead. It is definitely worth playing the full version.

I should be the one apologizing! I think I simply clicked the link in the game description page and assumed it was the full version. I guess downloading the correct version of the game is the first puzzle  (laugh)

Now that you have proceeded this far, you can suddenly do something that you couldn't do earlier. And in this game, you frequently have to perform actions in one location and see the effects in another. I'm guessing you have already tried this.
Spoiler
It's finally time to axe that tree by the pool.

I'm curious about why you can't get to the grove. My guess is either that you are playing the first version (in case, you are near the end), or that there is some hidden trigger that Sthomannch and I have released without knowing it. If memory serves correctly, the grove wasn't in the first version. In the expanded version, there should be a mouse on the floor inside the tent. If the mouse isn't there, you are probably playing the first build.

Actually,
Spoiler
I just did that and got the fur with the goo.
[close]

Ok, that explains it. I just finished and it WAS the demo all along! I found a link to the expanded version in a post from the author on the download page. There's also a walkthrough and something tells me I'm going to need it.

Once again, thanks for all the help and patience, guys!
