Get Geoff to pick the door? I've given him the skewer, the trident and the wooden pick but he threw them all away.

If you want the full solution I'll tell you but that's a big hint..

I finished the game this morning and I really enjoyed it. Most of my comments are similar to SarahLiz:

- I think the strongest point of the game was the humour. I'm not talking about silly belly-laughs; I mean some CLASSIC lines. This game is, really, REALLY funny. I think that a lot of references were aimed for a British audience but for the most part...WOW. Each character has his/her own personality.

- I am really happy that the walkspeed can be adjusted. I would have preferred to see the controls and save/load in the game interface. I think it would just be more polished that way.

- Graphics, animation, sounds are superb. A lot of work must have gone into finding an appropriate sound effect for SO many actions. Many game authors find a way to put a lot of gameplay into as few rooms as possible because creating rooms is so time consuming. I have to take note of the number of rooms for the length of this game and it shows that no effort was spared to add that extra polish. Backgrounds are quite detailed and aesthetically pleasing.

- As far as the puzzles and story: the story was about the same as chapter 1, which I really enjoyed. I did manage to complete chapter 1 without any hints, but I did need a few from the hints forum. I explained the first two that I needed help with. In addition, I got stuck because
Spoiler
I just did not see the ladder

. I also spent about an hour and a half with no progress because

I missed certain hotspots on the ledge

So, for me the pacing was not as smooth of an experience as I would have liked it but the vast majority of it was a pleasure to play.

As far as the ending....

Like the others commenting, I'm ready for Chapter 3!

Cheers! :)

My thoughts on the two great entries:

Distance No Object by Slasher
Spoiler
Really creative application of the theme. Good variety of things to do. Not particularly challenging. Graphics somewhat basic. The strongest point of this game is the humour. I have to confess to laughing probably from when it started till I finished.

Really nice graphics and animation. As I commented on the game's page, the game felt quite repetitive after a few minutes and there was not a lot to do, so gameplay is not the strong point here. The game has merit in leaving the interpretation up to the player, with some interpretations presented on the game's page and others are up to the player to decide

My vote:

The games are so different that I used my usual tie-breaking approach: which game did I enjoy playing the most? Comparing these two would in a way be like comparing a Picasso to Looney Tunes. I went for the Looney Tunes :) Good job, Slasher

Spoiler
I got the matches. It has an address. There doesn't seem to be any way to progress from here. The logical thing to do would be to go to the address but I can't really go anywhere, enter the betting shop to get Geoff back into the car or do anything else. What's next?

Thank you

Never mind...I solved it!

Thank you! That was pretty random...I seriously would never have guessed that.

Spoiler
It looks like you have to keep reading irrelevant notices till you hit the one you need. I don't know if they are randomly generated but I will say 100% that there's no way I would have kept scrolling through them till something meaningful would pop up

In addition I would never have guessed the first clue you gave in this thread because

Anyway, it seems like I'm spending more time on the hints forum than playing, and that's just for the first 2 puzzles. I liked the first game so I'm hoping things pick up from here. Thanks for the help, guys!

Yes,

Spoiler
so you've already obviously looked more closely at the "Busty Ladies" magazine, and got the copy of Caravan from inside of it.  So now go to the supply closet where Geoff is reading "Hi" magazine, and swap with him.  (If you try to give him "Busty Ladies" like I did just for fun, he is AGHAST that you'd offer it to him, lol.)  The magazine Geoff gives you is the one to give to June.

Hey, thanks for stepping in.
Spoiler
when I try that, it says "I suppose I could try swapping magazines with him but what good would that do me?"

You might be farther than me, Shadow--I tend to need help in a game earlier than most--but I just posted in the hint section right now.

Nope. I checked the hints and you're way ahead of me :)

One thing I did notice was that if you exit the building (into the parking lot), once you go back inside the initial cutscene replays all over again.  Just fyi...

I was going to post the same issue; I'm probably stuck at the same point (even though you didn't specify)

Note to other players: press S to save and R to restore. It took me some time to figure that out. Save/Load are not included in the interface.

QuoteI am right handed so it was a bit weird using the arrow keys, usually on the right side of a keyboard, as well as the mouse
Many First or Third Person Shooters use them. Or WASD keys + mouse. Would you have preferred another combination?
.

WASD would have been fine. If you want to make it fancy, most games give you a way to set up the controls, but giving the user the choice of arrow or WASD would accommodate all players.

QuoteWhen I got to the top, the character disappeared for a while. I clicked and swung the invisible character until it came back to the screen to complete the game. I assume this is a bug.
I haven't come across this bug. Do you know how to trigger it, or where?

The final action taken by the user before the conclusion scene. I think the screen has a log in it?
#335
I just played Episode 12 and it was fun! Definitely not easy - sometimes you have to get the combination of swinging, jumping and climbing just right but I did get to the end. I am right handed so it was a bit weird using the arrow keys, usually on the right side of a keyboard, as well as the mouse.

When I got to the top, the character disappeared for a while. I clicked and swung the invisible character until it came back to the screen to complete the game. I assume this is a bug.

I think it doesn't matter; in the "About" you can read in the end of the game, I write that if one likes the story, they already have created a meaning for it which is personal, and so that meaning is more important than what I meant.
Of course, if one doesn't like it, the above doesn't work :D But it still works in regards to whether my own meaning is the important thing... It's not like I could say: "Yeah well, you didn't get it, so it's your problem". That never works, nor should it - I know it from my work as a published author of short fiction :)

Ok so pretty subject to interpretation, whether the one intended or the players. Very cool  :-D
#337
So, last question:

Now that you explained the idea behind the game, and the three endings, was the player expected to understand this: a) while playing as the game progresses; b) after completing the game, perhaps having to complete all endings; or c) only after having it explained and discussed on the forum?

That is true, it is repetitive... Though that is part of the actual story. It is pointless, because likely the person there
Spoiler
is just imagining there is something special behind the door. He thinks there is a conspiracy to drive him away, but more than likely he is in a random office waiting hall, projecting mad ideas about meaning.
[close]

Ahh,...ok I get it now. I didn't realize that during or after playing. I still don't quite get the endings unless those were also somewhat random in meaning. BTW, fix the spoiler tags in your message!

^_^

Did you like anything about the game?

I'll comment more during the voting but when the game was introducing itself and the interface and overall gameplay, I thought it was pretty cool and suspenseful and a nice interface graphically. It lost my attention somewhat when it felt repetitive.

Spoiler

You get ending1 if you do not pick up the paper you (by default- coded) let fall to the ground (instead of placing it on the chairs, like all the other read ones). So it is right after you are told that the messages have already been written. Then you ask the new question, you get the screen where the paper falls to the ground, and you are told (by the left office head) to pick it up. You can pick it either then, or the next time you get to  that screen - after that it is locked and you cannot touch it. To get ending 1 JUST LET THE FALLEN PAPER STAY ON THE GROUND. Click only on the new paper, which appears from behind the door :)  You can't click on any other read paper, cause you already read them and have nothing more to do with them.

Ok, I got it now. Thank you!
