Spoiler
The three endings are accessible like this:

Ending 1: you don't pick up the paper which fell when you became dizzy. So you are kicked out of the hall before all questions are asked. This is actually the "good" ending ^_^ You imagine the orange floral wallpaper corridor.

I got endings 2 and 3 by going through the options but I don't know how to get 1.

What do you mean by
Spoiler
...when you becamse dizzy? I assumed it meant the beginning of the game but it seems that it's after a specific question or paper? Also, why are there several papers that you are sent that you can't pick up?

My thoughts:

Spoiler
I like to take my time figuring things out when playing games and trying different actions on different objects. The 30 minute timer promotes rushing through things rather than exploring. I suppose if I could hurry up the player's walkcycle so walking from place to place doesn't take precious minutes it would be different. I opened the book and spent a few of my 30 minutes trying to close it but it seems that you can't?

You have to
Spoiler
click in the corners of the book to turn the page or close the book.

Aha! Thanks!

I agree with the earlier assessments of the game: Good plot, good, logical and solvable puzzles. Overall, the game is a great experience.

I specifically like how the story flows as the game continues. Although the game is on the short side, it is PACKED with puzzles.

Good job!

Also after I visited the lab the game don't wait for messages/dialogs anymore and clear them instantly.
After a reload of a save everything is back to normal but after a while (random) the same thing happens again.

I am not sure I understand this based on description but is it possible that you ALT + TABBED while playing, then came back to the game to trigger this?

I played this game last night and I am very impressed. Double impressed by the fact that it's a first release.

The strongest point of the game is the puzzles. I am really happy that I was able to complete the game without any hints, despite the fact that I was stumped at certain points. Put differently: I found the puzzles to be really well designed and geared right at that spot where they are difficult enough to provide a good challenge, but not so difficult to be frustrating or impossible. This is one of the most difficult parts of designing a good game that will be really enjoyed by many.

Some details:
- Graphics are simple. but adequate. It would have been a nice touch to have a cursor icon match the inventory items so you know what you are using.
- I loved the creepy guy watching you and commenting. It put a certain pressure and comedy on the overall feel of the game. Nice touch!
- I don't know if anyone else will appreciate the detailed descriptions of areas of backgrounds but it really reminded me of the text-based game in the pre-graphic area "You have entered a clearing in the forest. The grass is soft and cool to the touch. You can hear the..." and so on. It must have taken extra work to come up with these descriptions but it really enhanced the experience.

My overall rating for the game is that especially for a first game, you really have something to be proud of. I look forward to your next release.

Cheers!

And after reading up on the order of operations, I now see I simply remembered it wrong, while Slasher is dead on. Oh well, it's a good thing I don't do that for a living. :-[
I know the order of operations but I don't get how to do math with symbols that are not defined. 2 out of the 3 symbols on the bottom line don't appear in the definitions on the top 3 lines

Spoiler
it is based exactly like i saw on Youtube, only different symbols...

Ok, then it must be based on a reference I'm not familiar with, which would explain why I'm stuck.
Spoiler
What Youtube video am I missing...?

The riddles were interesting, solvable but still I had to scratch my head sometimes. But they made sense and were most refreshing. I concur with Shadow1000.

I was going to add: I think the reason I liked the puzzles so much is because they are LOGICAL. I like a challenge that makes me think and has a logical solution.

I completed the game on Friday and I want to share my opinion:

Overall, this game is excellent in every area.

- The plot is engaging and the pacing of the plot with the puzzles is perfect. Specifically, the number and the difficulty of the puzzles helped the plot unfold at a speed that made me keep wanting to play for the reward of finding out what happens next. The length of the game was perfect. It's hard to create a game of this length while keeping it interesting with a good story but this is a very strong aspect of this game.
- Ok, I have to admit that medieval fantasy adventure happens to be my overall favourite and you got some extra points there.
- Ok, another weakness is that I LOVE games where there is a lot to explore. Lots of good games have been made with 4 rooms but to me, more ground to cover is just that much more fun.
- Anyone just looking at the trailer video will be able to see immediately that the graphics, backgrounds, characters, music, animations are STUNNING. I really don't care what software was used to generate them; I absolutely loved the aesthetics.
- As far as the puzzles; wow...there was such a range, between dialogue and inventory puzzles, a maze puzzle, object puzzles, all the classics and then some. One of my biggest points of the game is that despite the fact that most of the puzzles were multi-stage tasks, I never found myself stuck to the point of frustration. Many games of this length and detail would have 4 pages of posts on the hints forum, but so far people have been able to complete it without needing a single hint.
- The attention to detail here is amazing. There are SO many NPCs with different personalities to interact with, and part of the gameplay is actually getting to know the personalities of the NPCs.

Overall, really a great experience and I recommend that anyone who loves a good adventure should play it.

What a comeback. Well done ID. I’ll PM you soon about coming up with a topic for June.

Big, well-deserved congratulations to Intense Degree. Lots of great entries but this really stood out! Can't wait to see June's topic.

I just finished the game. Overall, it is a really impressive work, especially for a first release!

Great story and the way it unfolds and makes the player realize the balance between determination to achieve goals and making moral decisions is really awesome. Animations, music, sound are good too! There's a great balance between inventory puzzles and dialogue puzzles and the game is a great experience.

Some things to improve:

The graphics are certainly adequate. However, when you create a game, you have to make a decision as to how game items can be identified to the player. You can either use hotspots that change a label or at least the cursor when you hover over game items, OR if your graphics are designed in a way that game items are apparent visually, then players will just intuitively know that something is a game item. If you look at the questions in the hints section, both are based on game items blending into backgrounds in way that players could not identify them. As much as I loved the puzzles, I spent considerable time clicking around backgrounds to find things and probably would never have found the items that are discussed in the hints without knowing what I'm looking for.

If you really want to take the experience to the next level, try to put in more responses to attempts. Maybe if you give a character an item he doesn't need it should say "Bob doesn't need that can" or something rather than no response from the game when the player tries different ideas.

So, as I said, this is an awesome game in the sense that the story and puzzles are really good. The way it really has meaning to real life really makes the player think rather than just being a funny story that ends with the credits. The fact that this is a first release is even more impressive. So, please take the points I made more as suggestions for your next game rather than criticism!

Congrats

Its colour was a bit different :-)

I still don't see it standing out in the background enough to have found it on my own. Either way, I finished the game. Thanks again for the help.

Thank you. I don't know how you found that. I actually had tried clicking everywhere in the mire already but I must have missed that one. I don't understand how players were expected to see it...

how to get the Elixir? Both Ips and leh want one. I have the malt, crowbar, pebbles and fish net on stick. I am guessing I need to use the malt with something but I think I've clicked on everything!

I finally got a chance to play the game. Maybe more hints were put into the game, but I really did not get stuck too much. The only hint I needed was:
Spoiler
to get the cable. It didn't occur to me to interact with the item that gives you the cable. The elevator puzzle was not a challenge as the approach to the solution was hinted several times before getting there.

Overall, a very puzzle-heavy game with a few good chuckles. I liked the repeated references to not being a janitor. The puzzles were well-designed at at that level that I just had a great experience without getting frustrated. Awesome pixel art and I NEED to know what happens next!!!

Great job!

I hadn't realized how much easier it is to play using the mouse. I was able to clear all the levels that way.

Spoiler
my strategy is simple: since you know where they will emerge, I zoom over to "lay down fire" even before the enter the screen and then zoom back to my open area. that knocks them down pretty fast with little danger. Using this method I beat all 5 waves pretty easily
