  • The video: You come across as likeable authentic. However, I have problems understanding you. I'm not a native speaker and I know that sometimes have problems understanding English speech, but I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation. Please consider your audience and either have subtitles or make sure to record the video with better sound quality.

I just want to echo this: as a Canadian, I usually understand most English dialects with no problem but was only able to understand about 2/3 of what was said.

Two games!

Escape Literature
Spoiler
I really enjoyed this one! Great graphics, sound and interface. Great concept and story. Music really set the tone. Awesome first game!

My only area to recommend for improvement is that the puzzles were for the most part a lot of trial and error. That said, for a game made on a time constraint, I'm really impressed.

Looks like it could be made into a full game. I liked the mirror effect of the storefront

Yep, I've tried that...

She just talks about Harry Potter, and I've gotten everything from her possible, as well as given her anything it'd let me.  What is she supposed to do for me after that, pertaining to the body exhumation?

I can't figure out how to get permission to exhume the right body.  I've got “Roger Roger” standing by, but no excuse I give the police officer grants me permission.  Now what?

Already stuck...I feel like an idiot, but:

Spoiler
I'm still in the dang cemetery.  Picked up everything possible, and the only thing I've been able to do is pop the balloon.  I'm obviously missing something to pick up the map.  Thought it had to do with the sticky sap, but apparently not?

I'm leaving the detail up to you...ask if you need more.

Oh, I forgot to mention: I was really impressed with interactions and combinations having very specific messages rather than the generic "why would I do that?" or "not going to happen". I realize that it takes a lot more effort to explain why it doesn't make sense especially for a small project like this.

I played this game and I really enjoyed it. I spent most of the time laughing; it's an absolute hoot! Puzzles were entertaining and logical enough to solve without help.

Well done!

Hi Shadow1000,
I apologize for the delay in replying! I was on vacation.  :)
The italian version of the game has been tested by 5 persons: three out of five have completed the game without any hint and four out of five have solved the last puzzle independently!
Bye!

Awesome! sounds like a great proportion.

Shadow1000,
Concerning the hint on the poster
Spoiler
the poster says from 11 12 11 (that is the equivalent of the numbers of knocking you hear, 4 2 2 2 3 3) to 31 12 21, that is 3 times 1, 1 time 2 and 2 times 1 (the equivalent of 1 4 3 2 2 3, the solution for the knocking)
[close]

About the other example
Spoiler
the infernal lymph doesn't exist in reality, as doesn't exist a drug named HELLISH, it's only a funny expedient to create a drug like that with a fluid "coming from the hell"
[close]

Bye! :)

Spoiler
Sorry, I completely don't understand the knocking. Please remember that this is something that players are supposed to figure out on their own. I don't even understand it once explained several times.

What is the connection between "11 12 11 (that is the equivalent of the numbers of knocking you hear, 4 2 2 2 3 3)"? What is the connection between "3 times 1, 1 time 2 and 2 times 1 (the equivalent of 1 4 3 2 2 3)"?

When the game was tested by people who were not involved in the development, did the majority solve this independently?

I spent an hour and a half on this last night.

- The art and animation are really well done.
- The idea behind the game is really original
- I think that the puzzles are challenging and excellent.

I found that there was a lot of walking so I wanted to go to the game speed to adjust it, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that. I tried to save the game, but nothing for that either. I pressed all the function keys hoping to hit a save button and I ended up with all items in my inventory?? It looks like something's been overlooked here.

At one point I ended up with Amy not being able to move (she was talking to Erick and then the character got stuck). I had to restart the game and as I said, there seems to not be a save.

I really think this game has big potential but it looks like the beta testers may have missed a few things. For the effort that's gone into the game, the ability to save is essential. My rule of thumb is that if a game is more than 20 minutes long, you really need to give the ability to save. Just imagine spending an hour or two on a game and being out of time and having no choice but to quit and lose everything. It's unusual that a player will be able to just complete a game like this in one sitting.

Shadow1000,
I really appreciate your review and for it I thank you!
For sure I'll take into consideration your suggestions for the future chapters.
Anyway, I would like to explain you the last puzzle that, in my opinion, is the best one:
Spoiler
you hear from the other side of the door: 4 knock - 2 knock - 2 knock - 2 knock - 3 knock - 3 knock. So the solution is 1 4 3 2 2 3 because is a mathematical sequence, that is 1 time 4 knocking, then 3 times 2 knocking and 2 times 3 knocking. If you take into consideration the poster outside the club there's a suggestion to solve it
[close]
.

Thank you all again for your time!

I understand your explanation but I have to honestly say that I would never have figured that out. I looked at the poster again. Where is the hint on the poster?

Another example:
Spoiler
even after finishing the game, I still don't know what an "infernal lymph" is or what it has to do with the solution

I completed the game and I want to post my comments.

  • Graphics, animation, recorded acting with live actors, music, interface all score an A+. It looks like an enormous effort and many people involved and I can't compliment this enough
  • I liked the plot and characters. The pacing of how things unfolded compared to the puzzles was paced really well. Ultimately this can be a huge factor in how enjoyable a game is
  • Others commented on the English. I didn't really find the translation to be a problem but I will admit that I completely didn't understand some of the lines said in the dialogues.
  • My opinion is that the puzzles need to be reworked. Details below

Unfortunately, I found most of my playing time spent on the Hints and Tips forum. I think there were three puzzles I was able to solve independently. The actual playing time was spent on trying to figure out how to achieve what I found on the forum.

I usually solve 80-99% of puzzles on my own. In a longer or more difficult game I may have to ask two or three hints and find a few more. In this game, the fact that most of the solutions are found on the forum means that other players were stumped by the same things that I was. Even once I found the solution, I often felt that there's no way I would have figured it out on my own and didn't even understand the solution.

Some examples of this:
Spoiler
Others have pointed out that the solution to the garage door is not one that most players would have gotten logically. I still don't get the logic of the knocking
[close]

The graphics are awesome but since they are photographs, it was often difficult to find items such as
Spoiler
The pencil. I would never have found it on my own, let alone to know that I'm looking for it. I didn't really see the lighter or pencil sharpener either. I can't see how anyone would have found these if they didn't know they are looking for them
[close]

The reason I'm making these comments is because it was really a good experience overall. I know that there are two more planned and I'm hoping that my comments will just help the next releases rather than dissuade production.

Lastly, these are just the thoughts of one player :) I don't speak on the behalf of anyone else and you can disregard my comments! :D

Buona fortuna!

Michael2968,
You have to
Spoiler
collect the empty bottle and the funnel inside the club, then combine them togheter. After that you can use the resulting bottle with funnel to mix the three ingredients for the drug

Shadow1000,
concernig the
Spoiler
fight sequence, you simply have to click (with left clic of mouse) the buttons in the right sequence (1, 2, 3, 4) within a specific time limit (not visibile)
[close]

Thank you.

Spoiler
I had my game speed on fastest because there is a lot of walking, so it went too fast to figure out what was going on. Possibly I would have figured that out had it been on the default speed

I finished the game.

Thanks for the hint. I didn't realize that the room scrolls that way.

I'm stuck again.
Spoiler
I'm trying to get into the club. I see the solution on the main forum but it speaks about knocking and knocking back. How do you get to hear the knocking and how do you knock back? I see the poster but I see no connection between the numbers on the poster and the solution given.

Edited to say: no worries...I figured it out :)

I am still curious as to how the solution was supposed to be arrived at
Spoiler
what is the hint on the poster?

I'm stuck on the
Spoiler
fight sequence. There are no rules or explanation. After the numbers 1 2 3 4 appear on the screen, you get knocked out. I've trying clicking the numbers on the screen, pressing them on the keyboard. How does this sequence work?

Shadow1000,
You have to
Spoiler
talk with Marion Simmons of the pencil sharpener (she's the receptionist located at the entrance of the office (on the left of the screen)) and accept to help her to solve the problem of the phone number on the blocknotes. After that you can take the pencil sharpener situated near Marion Simmons, above her desk!

Let me know if you find it!

I'm not sure if you mean

entrance to the building or the upstairs area

but I spoke to both of them and exhausted all dialogue options and neither gives a quest.

Hi Shadow1000,
Here's the answer:
Spoiler
the pencil sharpener is above the Marion Simmons's desk (at the entrance of the TiBRAIN Offices), you can take it after completing the Simmons's quest, by giving her the blocknotes with the phone number written in pencil

Enjoy the game!  :)

Was it the same error Creamy posted? If so, it should be fixed in the second file I posted yesterday. If not, I need more information to know how to fix it.

I thought I had but I readownloaded and this time I was able to get past the red button and complete the game.

Thank you
