I don't know how to open the keypad.
Spoiler

1. to open the keypad-locked door in the attic you have to type in the passwort: ARACHNID, which you can find in the gallery after removing the vase
I guess you will find out the rest by yourself after getting into the next room locked by the keypad. hint: Later you will need the keypad a second time        to get some   numbers
[close]
I don't know where to find the second half of the key.
Spoiler

2. the keyhead is in the above mantioned room (attic -> office)
[close]
I don't know what to put in the slots under the lever in the cave.
Spoiler

3. you need a piece-of-metal, this item is hidden in the yakuzi(swimming pool) but you have to read a hint from a diary first. The diary lies in the master bathroom which is seperated by a mirror from the office at the end of the corridor
[close]
I don't know where to find a fuse
Spoiler

4. you can find the fuse in the master bedroom but you have unlock the door first using the piece-of-metal in the cave
[close]

Thanks. I actually only needed the first hint and that got me going.

Spoiler
I need to access the elevator. I must be doing this wrong: I assume that "KIRA HARA is the key" is the hint, and I translate those into numbers using the keypad. I get 43613161. That does not work. I tried just the first 5 digits and that didn't work either. I must be missing something.

I'm really enjoying this game! It's not easy but I am making slow progress.

I have a few areas where I'm stuck. It could be that one will open the way for the others...

You have to

pet the cat to calm her down so she can think of the third option.

Oh gee...I think that's a bit random. I must have stumbled on it unknowingly because I succeeded the second or third time.

Thank you

Yes, I completed this game the day it was released.
Spoiler
eventually you hear a message from "God" and the game progresses. I don't know exactly what triggers it but it happens within the first minute or so

How DID you get past the first guy? I tried turning on the extractor, shooting at it and so on before entering stairs. So far no luck

Edited to say that I played again and this time around

I got the third option. What triggers it? I don't think it was there last time

I am completely impressed by this demo. I think that it's really close to becoming a real classic. The story line and a bit of polishing need to be fine tuned but otherwise it's an excellent piece of work.

If you haven't played it, then a warning is in place: the game contains horror, sexual references, blood, occult and therefore is not suitable for children or people who find these things offensive.

The strongest part of the game is the story. For the most part, the plot and pacing of the plot with the puzzles is perfect. I found the plot completely riveting and was what kept me wanting to solve those puzzles, which is how a good game should be designed. The occult/surreal-world horror aspect works really well in providing the atmosphere that reminded me at times of Silent Hill without the constant monster attacks.

Spoiler
I don't want to elaborate, but there was a point in the game where I felt a bit of a lull in the story and it was solving puzzles just for the sake of solving puzzles. I communicated this with the author.
[close]

The puzzles are another very strong part of the game. There is a great variety of inventory puzzles with learning clues from dialogue puzzles, escape the room and to on. As pointed out by others, the difficulty is right in that sweet spot where they are challenging enough to keep you thinking but not too difficult to make them unsolvable or lose interest in playing.

The graphics/animation/sound and music are good. I agree with the author that a bit of music to help with the atmosphere would enhance the experience.

My only complaint is the save system. I actually like that you can't just save as often and when and where you want. But had I not been told that saving is a puzzle I would not have known, let alone how to save. I believe that any game longer than 20 minutes or so should have an obvious way to save the game. I recommend telling the user outright how to save during gameplay if you don't want to add a save button to the menu. I actually restarted 3 or 4 times and left my computer running most of the day because of this.

I do hope that you refine it a bit and release it.

Well done!

I'm stuck:

I don't see any goals or puzzles or objectives at this point.

Oh I actually didn't know the function keys will quit the game, thanks for the info! But I guess the story was intriguing enough for you to at least try a second time 8-)
Anyway, the way you save your game is
Spoiler
when you go through certain doorways, you have a chance of meeting an angel statue (if she's not too busy crying). Use the memories you've found on her to save the game.
[close]
I'll admit that as a puzzle it's kind of cheap, but I was hoping the narrative implications would make up for it!

My opinion is that saving the game should be part of the gameplay, not a puzzle. Thank you for that tip; that will make it much easier to play.

As for where you're at right now I'll give you a hint:

What you need is a way to access the third floor. It's a bit of pixel hunt but hopefully not too frustrating. Contact me again if you need further help

Actually, I just figured that out! I'll post in the hints thread if I get stuck again.

Thank you

How do you save the game? Twice I started playing and did not have time to continue and pressed function keys hoping for a save option and the game just ended, losing my progress.

As well:

I'm actually pretty stuck. Seems that no one else had trouble, though.
Spoiler
I only have the tights, shoes and bra. I have no idea where to find the other clothes. I don't know how to get into room 204

How do you get the jacket? I assume you get it from the bar window but your arms aren't long enough.

I don't know of any other objectives so if someone can help me with these it should help me along in the game.

Thank you

I guess this one is more of a storytelling than a puzzle filled game. Glad you liked the story and had some laughs. That was what I was hoping for.

As some of you might have noticed I'm not much of a polisher. My stuff have rough edges, spelling and grammar mistakes.  On the other hand I actually publish stuff, which I probably would not if I was a perfection seeker.

Of course that's a matter of personal approach and goals. As the author that's your choice. However, if you ever do want to take that extra step, I'm sure that you can easily recruit some of the members of the forum who would be happy to beta test and proofread.

Good luck!

I absolutely loved this game! Awesome art, puzzles are just right. A few good laughs. Well done!

I finished playing last night, thanks to a special build from Grok that solved a scripting error.

My comments on the game:

As one would expect from Grok and Blondbraid, this game holds a lot of promise. It's clear that a lot of work went into it. The graphics are really enjoyable in a Saturday-morning cartoon way. The story is fun and easy to follow and overall the game is a good playing experience. I like the in-game hint system so you almost never wonder "ok what comes next".

I found the puzzles to be mixed. The number of puzzles is on the low side for the length of the game. I think I played for about an hour before I encountered a puzzle (which I happened to need help for). Some of the other puzzles were "where's waldo" type puzzles plus a few action/arcade sequences.

As far as recommendations, if you want to improve the game I would suggest that you have a few people beta test it to iron out scripting errors. As you know I encountered one that led me to a dead-end where I spent hours trying to solve a puzzle that could not be solved because of a bug. In addition, there are things such as:
Spoiler

- the hint tells you to go to the recycle plant floor 5 before the robot chase scene
- after zapping the robot in the chase scene, if you come back to that area of the church you enter the chase scene again
[close]

I found it hard to remember which doors are accessed by walking and which you need to use the hand to activate.

Things like this can be ironed out during testing.

As well, I would have a native English speaker review the spelling and grammar. "Buisness Hotell" should be "Business Hotel". There are many other spelling errors like this and sometimes the meaning of dialogues is not clear.

As I said, the game holds promise and was overall enjoyable and I had some good laughs. I hope my suggestions are useful for this game or future releases.

How defeat the lizard
Spoiler

By Yaz' feet there is a blue hand symbol. Click it before the lizard gets to push Yaz.
You will now have a different ending to that scene.

Indeed. I had to do it several times even knowing what to expect but I succeeded in the end.

I'll now get on to the bug fixing. :)

I completed the game. Great ending!

It looks like you are the victim of a bug in the game that I have missed.

Spoiler

You should have gotten the address to the tower after the attempt of the lizard to push you off the roof. There are three different possible endings of that scene. One of them seems to be missing the line of code that adds the address. That at least is the possibility I can see. That would in that case be the ending where Yaz gets pushed of the roof, but is saved by the taxi driver. Is that the ending you got when you played?

I'll look the code over later today and will hopefully be able to fix the bug. Should be quite easy if I am correct about what the problem is.

I'll also make a special version for you, where you can jump to the taxi with the tower address added. This way you can finish the game without having to replay a large part of the game. I'll note you when I've fixed that. You are close to the end.

The only way you could add the address in the version of the game you now have, if my hypothesis of the problem is correct, is to go to a save point before the roof scene, replay it and win over the lizard. You might like to do that to see the alternative ending of the scene, but you might not wish to replay everything after that point. Since I made the mistake and since I do appreciate the effort you have put in on this (and on earlier games), I'll make the special fix mentioned in the paragraph above just for you.

I'm sorry about the bug.

As far as that scene:

Spoiler
I played it a few times. The 2 results were either getting pushed off and dying or being saved by the taxi. I don't know what the user is supposed to do; all I did was click around wildly, not seeing any objective.

I appreciate the special build. I look forward to completing the game.

Shadow1000,
Spoiler
The door has a picture of a flute on it, so the key is to find a flute lying on the floor on one of the levels in the recycle plant (can't remember which level though), and use it on the door.

Thank you! I am able to continue now.

I'm stuck again.

Spoiler
I zapped the enemy in the chase scene in the church and then the robot tells me to find Mrs Mole's office on floor 5 of the recycle plant. I can't find the office. There is a door on the bottom left with a flute on it that says that there must be a way to open the door but there's nothing on the floor you can interact with, touch, move, etc. and none of the people on the floor are able to have any sort of conversation or dialogue. I checked the other floors and there's really nothing there either, unless I am missing something.
