Game breaking bug:

Spoiler
After speaking to the owner of the Ju Ju shop, I went upstairs, crossed via cables and found the chute. After clicking to use or look at the chute, he says he should wait till night, then the game shuts off. As well, you can get past the barricade without breaking it just by using the ladder
[close]

Is there a way to continue despite the crash?

The book is not there. Have you looked in the notebook? Did you try to show everything to the professor? And have you visited all places that are accessible?

I found one new area that I missed before.

I am sure this is a bug. How do I continue?

Thank you

...unfortunately way beyond my ability to code given the time constraints, ...

And that's the key thing to any comments about MAGS games. They have to be put in the perspective of the time constraints. Any presentable, working entry that meets the theme of the contest is highly impressive and my hats are off to the fact that on top of that, this game is just so fresh in its approach.

I am stuck on Jan 17

Spoiler
I found the books in the safe and gave them to the professor. There doesn't seem to be anything to do at this point other than find the book mentioned by the woman at Harvard. He keeps saying that it might be in the library but it's not there when I look. What do I do next?

I spent quite some time on this. The second half of the message seems straightforward to "correct" but I can't get the first half going.

Glad to hear the game challenged a stalwart puzzle solver at at least one point...

Here's the deal: I should probably post my comments on the contest thread (maybe I'll do that late), but this game is sheer genius in the design of the game.

Pros of the game: The graphics and animation are very pleasing. The biggest strength is how far this game is from the traditional point and click. It's almost like inventing your own genre of game ad hoc for a contest with time restraints. That plus the animation, sprite and everything is exceptional.

Con: the gameplay is limited to one word puzzle, where you either solve it or you don't. Possibly the most important principle in game design is to reward the player for playing the game, either by allowing him/her to experience progress or to unfold a story as a "reward" for solving something. My experience with this game was that once I figured out the goal and mechanics, I got only so far so fast and then hit a brick wall and dropped it. It seems that some players solved it while some ended up where I did.

That's my overall thoughts

Screenshots:

Details:

  • 320 x 180 resolution
  • Game Length: Short

Amazing entry! Very moving and thought provoking. Good puzzles. Well done!

I noticed I could open the window (at this point, I felt like pixel hunting honest)... so open the window and turn on the lights... (in the bed room)

Actually, that was where I spent most of my playing time. The rest was straightforward.

I LOVE this game! I was a bit stuck at first but between the gorgeous art and the original music, I really didn`t care :)

Other than that, the non-verbal interactions and the clapping was a real twist.

Very well done.

I just realized that Black Morph is a demo? Lovely graphics and cool effects but there doesn't seem to be much you can do other than morph into 2 objects and pick up one. Am I missing something or is that what the demo is at this stage?

Stunning graphics and animation. This shows real promise. By the way, it's "pail", not "pale". You may want to have someone proofread the final before release.

best of luck!

I just played this game now and I'm glad I did!

- Graphics, music and sound effects give the game a very complete and polished look and really contribute to the experience
- The story plot fit well with the duration of the gameplay. Like Cat, it took me about 40 minutes to complete
- As others have commented, I am very impressed by the variety of puzzles in the game. None of them were really difficult so the game was never stale or frustrating. This may appeal to newer players or players who find more challenging games to be frustrating.
- I give credit for the creativity aspect as well.

Overall a delightful game that anyone who has not yet played will enjoy.

Good job!

In a way it does in the sense that you start from home and then are given the task again. However, my problem was with the amount of money you lose. I quickly found myself below zero and then into the thousands of dollars below zero.

Oh no! I definitely put something in the wrong order there. Thanks for specifying!

If you change that aspect of the game I will definitely give it another spin.

What is supposed to happen to your money when the cop catches you?

Thanks for playing!

When you are caught by the cop the game is supposed to start you at the beginning of that day/level.

QuoteI realize it's also not clear at all that once the player's cash starts flashing that they are to go back home to complete a level. I put a big effort into not holding the player's hand but maybe a bit too much of an effort...

Yup...I figured that one out. I agree with not holding hands too much because as I said, it took me a while to figure the game out and I think that was part of the fun. If you do continue with the game, maybe have the game detect if the user seems to be struggling and then a hint can pop on the screen or something.
