Thank you for the hint, Mandle. I was able to complete the game.

Cassie and jwalt: you're not at a dead end. Keep playing :) if you want I can tell you where Cecille is hiding but it's not difficult to find her.

Okay, if it's not a dead end...

I seem to be stuck, as well.

Spoiler
Tried to give the toy too soon; it's now gone. The other gal has run off to play hide-and-seek, and I can't do much of anything. Wondering, now, if I've missed an area of the farm?

I gave the sickle to the boy and got the ball

Not much that you can do after that.

If I understood right, if you already gave him the toy before he complains being bored, then there's nothing you can do but restart the game. Unless I completely misunderstood.

Can someone confirm that this is a dead end? That's where I'm at now.

I played and finished it. There's a nice number of puzzles with a wide range of variety for such a short game. The graphics and animations are impressive.

Well done!

The point is that there's nothing the player can do such as not touch the cable
or some other action to PREVENT the death. When I said "random" I didn't mean
it literally.
Spoiler

The bot can stop the leak before the player goes to rest. Click on the pipe near the hole.

I didn't realize that. Thanks for the tip...I'll try it if there's a re-release!

I wasn't just talking about that part of the game, however. My main intention was the first part of the game where the player would just die.

I just finished playing this. The graphics, animation, effects and environment are EXCELLENT! The puzzles and story are also really enjoyable. It is a real shame it ends here and was abandoned. Even the teaser for Chapter 2 was really cool to watch.

Thanks for all the great feedback Shadow!

Most welcome! I'm glad you didn't take my points as criticism!

Spoiler
All the deaths are triggered by pre-set timers (always the same value) and either related to the gauges (blood, oxygen) or the leak.
The leak is really the only "hidden" death, the rest SHOULD only happen if one of the gauges runs out.

The point is that there's nothing the player can do such as not touch the cable or some other action to PREVENT the death. When I said "random" I didn't mean it literally.

As far as timed deaths, King's Quest III has a timed death section at the beginning where there is a timer and the wizard comes back at a preset time and kills you unless you put everything back where you found it. I hated that :) I'm not saying there's no precedent but you might want to poll other users as to whether that makes the game more fun or not.

Yeah, this is more of a bug really and definitely not intended!
We wanted to give the effect of "rushing" the player but definitely not punish them into a dead end :P.
We'll most likely fix these issues and tweak/test the game more after the voting is over and release an update sometime down the line

Understood completely. There's just not enough time when you're working for a deadline.

Take care

My comments on the game:

Overall, the game was a great experience. The graphics and environment are really good for what you are trying to achieve. There is a good number of a variety of puzzles, most of them well-designed, especially for a short game like this. It's obvious that there is a lot of attention to detail.

If you plan to further the game, here are my humble suggestions:
- I don't mind games where the player dies. I think that in some contexts such as a boss fight or a specific timed puzzle then that's ok. However, I would seriously reconsider the constant and (seemingly random) instadeath. In my opinion it really detracted from the game and I don't understand what the thinking behind it was.
- Having a dead end in a game because of the design is a real no-no, especially if the player doesn't realize that he/she is at a dead end. The flow of the game should just not allow that. If you don't know what I'm referring to, please see where I got stuck in a previous post. I don't want to give away too much but if it's not clear then I can send you a message.
- Some of the puzzles were a bit poorly-developed. For example, the point at which you have 4 choices on the screen and had to just choose with no idea what will result is not a puzzle! It's a guessing game with a "read my mind" feel

With adequate independent testing (i.e from people outside the development team) I am sure that these issues would have been ironed out. I completely understand that the nature of MAGS entries is that there is not enough time to produce a game and have it developed and tested as much as a full release, so overall I'm quite positive on this game. My comments are merely the thoughts of one player in case the developers are interested in some feedback to take the game further.

Cheers

Shadow, in that case try a) start from a previous save game, if you have one or b) start fresh. Shouldn't take you long to reach where you are and it'll save you time.

Hint for the padlock:
Spoiler

In order to extract it from your ear, you need to either increase the sound volume, or use some headphones... ;)

And if you are deaf (which I don't think the team predicted) then you're screwed... or read the solution next:

Thank you! I was able to finish the game with your help.

Once I finished it I went back to that puzzle and THEN realized what the hint means. A bit subtle but clever!

I just finished playing.

Overall, GREAT game!  I really had fun playing and I laughed at the ending.

If you are interested in improving it, here are some ideas:

- A lot of the game is about improving your stats. I recommend that the stats should be easily viewable so you can SEE your stats improve rather than having to ask an NPC for your stats.
- It would be nice to see the health of the enemy you are fighting so you can see how far you are from killing it.
- A good rule of thumb is that if a game is expected to last more than 20 minutes or so (I made that number up - other people might differ) then there should be a way to save the game.
- Depending on how far you want to take this game, you can build in a more interactive fight sequence where there are more choices than to simply FIGHT HEAL or FLEE. Perhaps Pete could purchase ways to send some sort of spell such as lightning or shock bolt or something at the enemy
- Fleeing should probably have some sort of penalty.

Others have recommended putting screenshots in the first post. I think that more than just the splash screen would be a good idea. I didn't even bother playing until I saw that Mandle said that it's fun.

It looks like a lot of work went into the game. I hope you carry the idea further...

Cheers

Just to echo what other players said:

- The art is exceptional. The mood that the art, animation and sound create is completely perfect for this game.
- The game was spooky, creepy and parts were disturbing. I am amazed how that was achieved so well.
- However, there is no gameplay to offer. If you want someone to be captivated, you have to give them some puzzles or a plot that unfolds or something more than holding down one keyboard key to watch a very, very slow scene to unfold. I found my patience being tested for most of the game. While technically there is some dialogue and inventory, there's really no player interaction. While I'm glad I stuck it out, I understand why some players quit.
- As others said, the story is mysterious but also abstract. It would be great to leave more hints to the user as to what happened.

Anyway, the game certainly has some very strong points but hopefully some of the player feedback will help give you some ideas to consider for version 2.

Good luck!

I don't want to comment too much while voting is underway but I do want to echo what other people have said:

- There is a great variety of puzzles in this game
- The art is very pleasing
- The most impressive part is how such a detailed game in terms of graphics and puzzles were put together relatively glitch-free in such a short period of time. Unusual for a MAGS entry.

Tres bien!

Ok, I played the game successfully!

interestingly, it was more of a story and dialogues rather than being a typical puzzle-based game

Stuck on second puzzle:

I click on the winsetup and I get an error: unable to launch 'BusinessDreamJamGame.exe

I can click the .exe file and it opens but not in fullscreen mode. I will guess that you can:
