Messages - Shattered Sponge

Well I love you, Mark!

This recent trend of love/hate threads (when two threads with a similar theme are posted within a short space of time, I consider it a trend.  So there) has reminded me of something I saw in another forum which I thought was a very nice idea; basically, you post something nice about the last person who posted in the thread.  Simple, right?  But just to make it more complicated:

1 - You have to post something that you honestly like about the last person; no sarcasm, or anything.  This'll be easier than you think  - for example, if it was Vel, you could just say 'I like your hat', or 'Though generally I feel your inflated opinion of yourself and tendancy to jump to the wrong conclusion as regards some issues has crafted for you a somewhat unpleasant persona within the community, I believe these are attributes which will erode away with time and effort, thus causing you to become an approachable - perhaps even likeable - individual.' So, you see, it's perfectly easy to think of something positive to say about anyone.

2 - There is no '2'

3 - To prove that I've not just started this thread to obtain a single, free compliment, the first person who posts gets to say something horrible about me (once again, honestly so); but after that it's all adulation, a'ight?

So, who's up for it, then?

A good style for coraline would be a sort of Tim Burton meets Day of the Tetacle meets freaky blue lighting.
Odd how you say that, as Henry Selick (who directed Nightmare Before Christmas) is making a Coraline movie right now.

Which is nice.

However, if this is the first room, I'd assume that it's in the 'normal' world, which needs to look kind of, uh, normal; distortion may not be appropriate yet.

Right-click; save target as.

Really.  Put some effort into your obtaining of cheesy 80s/early 90s video-game industry propaganda!

And while we're at it.

I love what I've seen of Floria Sigismondi's work; she's done videos for Marilyn Manson, David Bowie and Barry Adamson, but my personal favourite has to be this one for the first track on Sigur Ros' '()' album (all the tracks on that album are untitled).

I'd like a version of Maniac Mansion made whereby I cannot get fucking stuck in 2000 different ways, but that is just me, apparently.
Yes, it is; I think it may have something to do with the fact that you're a stupid bastard.

Right, right. And I agree - Bakla is quite an interesting one, right up to the last picture.
I totally saw that coming.

Still; I'd fuck him.

I watched it finally, and tho I thought the movement of the snakes were cool and that the whole thing would have made a good opening credit sequence for a film, like SNAKEMAN!!!!1 it didn't remind me of escher in anyway. In fact, I don't even understand how it's Escher related? No stairs go up yet down. No waterfalls fall yet are at the same level, etc. I don't get it. Is 21st Century Escher just computer animation minus Escher?

Please God tell me that you're joking.

I didn't recognise anyone on that site, so I checked the imdb instead and found:

Tony Tarantino (father of Quentin)
Neil Morrissey (Bob the Builder, apparently)
Some guy called Todd Harrison who was born on the exact same day as me

I also found that the following people died on my birthday:

Barry White (odd, I didn't remember that as happening on my birthday)
Thomas Jefferson
Isao Kimura  - I didn't recognise this guy's name, but checked his profile and found that he was in Stray Dog, Ikiru, The Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood (all of which I've seen) and Lone Wolf and Cub 6 (which I'll probably end up seeing at some point in time).  Nifty.  Except for the whole death part.

Much to my horror, I found that David and Victoria Beckham married on the day (I think that I've said 'birthday' to much in this post, don't you?), as did Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne.  Dear me.

I love you for making me think these disgusting thoughts, Melia.

Oh.  I see.

So you have to be either Irish or Tim Schafer in order to be insane, do you?  As I am neither, what does that make me; STABLE!?

EH!?

I strongly suggest that you eat your words, before I eat your willy off.

Quoteeven some people nominated games like 5 Days a Stranger and Apprentice for the Booby Prize.

I thought P3nish was a good thing, the way you were all throwing it around on #ags... :(
But we're not particularily impartial towards boobies, either...

I never actually went to goatse.

I don't know why; I'm not particularily squemish (I found tubgirl hilarious, if I'm honest; twisted sense o' humour, I guess), and when I am disgusted by something, I'm impressed, rather than distressed; it's just that someone told me a shouldn't go there, and I... er... kinda never did.  I'm really apprehensive about going and breaking the tradition, now, even though I'm aware of what it contains and it doesn't sound like something that would really bother me much.  Odd.

Also.

Ched,

Are you Irish?
I hope he is, because Ireland's pretty close, and thus I wouldn't have to travel too far to go suck his dick; something that I've got an indescribable urge to do after playing this.

Genius.

Grim Fandango and Seasons of Sakura tie for my favourite game.
Which reminds me, DG; I just managed to get SoS running in XP last week.

...

I'm sure that I had something to add to that, but it's gone.

Maybe you have forgotten to add the instructions on how you get it running so that I can play it too?  ;D

DosBox?
Virtual PC, actually :P

I had to use a different installation-type-thing to the one which I'd used before in order to get it to work, for some reason, however.

Actually, I remember what I wanted to add; Las had been wondering about the similarities between SoS and Eva; as underdogs labels SoS as being made in 1992 (Eva having come out in 1995), it seems rather odd.  Well, in case he hadn't worked it out for himself yet, and in the unlikely event that anyone still cares, I can say that I'm pretty much 100% certain that underdogs merely got the year wrong; besides the fact that there are plenty of references to anime besides Eva in there (for example, the three girls who's names I forget but are always together are quite blatantly based upon the three main characters of Rayearth, and I've heard that there's references to the likes of Tenchi in there, too), I spotted something which couldn't possibly have occured by coincidence, and was clearly an Eva referency-thing.

So there you go.

Well, not only did I misspell the URL (corrected that now), but it appears that the actual site is down anyway.

Try one of these, then.
