www.yuriskirigumi.com is pretty messed up; I'm very much of the 'whatever pops your blackhead' school of thought, but still - that's pretty messed up. I guess that that's why we love the Japanese, though, isn't it?

Well, that and Power Rangers porn.

QuoteI also love Nomura's character designs, but if I said something looked like it came from a Disney or Pixar movie, I'd mean it as an insult.

Not Disney OR Pixar, Disney AND Pixar. There's a huge, huge difference.
You said 'Pixar/Disney', which tends to indicate an either/or.  So he wins.

Personally, I'm a bigger fan of Yoshitaka Amano, who did character designs for the first six games in the series, and remains 'Image Illustrator' (I don't quite know what that means, either; just what mobygames credits him as) for the rest of the series.

He started doing character designs for anime back in 1967 at the age of 15; he's probably most well-known in that field for doing Vampire Hunter D's designs, but his best work (IMO) was on a film called Angel's Egg (if you ever get a chance to see this film, do; I had to get a really low quality copy off of kazaa, with the sound gradually getting further out of sync with the video as the film went on, but I was still transfixed by it).  There's a pretty good AE fansite here: http://www.spiteyourface.com/angelsegg/ which includes some pretty good screencaps.

Amano's website, www.amanosworld.com, includes galleries and a bio, and is in English.

But Lili, if you have no computer, what did you make BR on? For that matter, what are you looking at right now?

I give up with you people.
Then you give up with reprehensible ease.  I used to be able to look at, and post on, the ags forums with both my Dreamcast and web TV; as you own an Xbox, which no doubt is equipped with Xbox live, you can blatantly do the same thing.  As for Beyond Reality, it's existence is quite clearly a mass hallucination caused by our sitting in front of computers all day, fingers poised above the keyboard, gaining both RSI and radiation poisoning; seperately, these things are merely painful and deadly respectively, but together they create a perceptual acquiescence which you, in your maniacal... mania, saw fit to exploit.  You evil fucking bitch.

Well FUCK YOU ALL for not mentioning Jon Stickman!

In addition to what's already been said here, I am looking forward to Jon Stickman (demo was very good)

I think that someone owes someone else an apology.

Does anyone get any Aussie shows?
Has "The Secret Life of Us" made it to the UK yet?
Yarr; I think either the third or fourth series just finished - it has a late-night slot on a free-to-air channel (not the BBC).  I've never watched it myself, but I'd guess it would have to be reasonably popular for them to continue screening it.

We do get quite a few Aussie kid's shows, oddly; 'Round the Twist' springs to mind (I remember it being really popular in the early 90s), as does 'Mission:  Top Secret' (which was nowhere near as popular, but I liked it depite it's inherent cheesiness); I think that there was also one set in an under sea lab or something, with a mermaid or alien who could communicate with whales; I forget what it was called, but I'm pretty sure it was from Oz.  These were all a good few years ago, of course - I don't watch kid's TV too often, now.  And of course, Neighbours' primary audience is kids just home from school - it's on straight after the children's segment on the BBC.

Interesting how it seems that TV execs think that kids can handle foreign accents in TV shows, but adults won't be able to.

Don't be ridiculous, DeeG!  There are many on this forum - and I'd like to count myself among them - who are completely and utterly humourless, and thus will not have our perception of your original game marred by this vile, tasteless trash.

You made me smile.

Normally, I'd kill someone for doing this, but as it's new year's, and all, I'll let you off.

BE GRATEFUL.

Well I can't stand dubs (or re-dubs, as far as anime is concerned) full-stop; there are a couple of dubs which do not make me want to tear my ears off (Perfect Blue in particular, up until Mi-Mania showed up; Kite has a good dub, too, although it's not a particularily good show in it's own right; there are no good live-action dubs, barring perhaps Monkey) but for the most I find the original performance much better than the retread.  I also don't have the problem of missing animation, as my eyes usually just need to flick down once or twice per line, and I have pretty good peripheral vision - I rarely miss more than a coupla frames.

This reminds me of Monty Python's "Killer Joke" sketch.
Wow.  I totally did not make that connection.

No you didn't, you filthy fucking LIAR.

Frankly, I don't think anyone who uses the term 'Japanimation' deserves to call themselves a geek, yet alone more geeky then those who insist on subtitles (which is the sensible thing to do, and as we all know, only geeks are sensible.).

Also; this is random, isn't it, Flippy?  I remember when this first came on to BS, 'twas ages ago - why bring it up all of a sudden?

Shattered Sponge, it is obvious. The joke is lethal.
I happened to read two words of it, and I went to the hospital for three weeks.
You went to hospital for three weeks?  But you posted exactly 16 hours after I posted the joke.

I think you might just be LYING!

'Flipperwaut'?

I get the feeling I should be offended.
Dude, do you think everything I say is some sort of underhand slur toward you?

Everybody point at Flippy's ego and laugh.
#133
Oddly enough, there is an anime series called Hellsing.

It's fucking awful; seemed to me like the animated version of a hollywood action movie  ;)

Clean up?  Gladly.

But before you die, let me point out that you were not attempting to spell the word in English, but that you were attempting to spell the word with the Roman alphabet, which is use by many other languages, too, you racist pig-dog.
#136
I suggest that you learn how to spell it, first.

Um...if you illegally downloaded a game, you can't really complain about it not having a manuel. And please curb you language and use of Cap Locks. Its not something an Immensly Happy stanta-style Elf-type thing would do.
You do realise that she was being facetious, don't you?  It was her own special way of thanking me for pointing out they numpad control to her.  Also; considering she only used caps in blocks of one or two words, I consider it more likely that she was holding shift, rather than hitting caps lock.

You utter fool.

Fighting sequences that involve clicking the mouse on the enemy to throw a punch, like every single fight sequence in FOA.
You actually used the mouse-control for those?  Are you mad, woman?  Use the fucking numpad, like everyone else in the entire world.
