Messages - Shattered Sponge

Hmm... I'm rather nervous about watching this - after the demo finishes, is there going to be a low-quality slideshow of bad, amatear porn feature girls, bullwhips and those hats of which I am sure there is a specific term that I can't think of right now?

Ah, screw it, I'll take the risk.

  AHA!  Your list is quite, quite flawed; I (and I think one or two other people on that list) as I was on ezboard for quite some time before we switched to yabb - that date was just when I decided to follow everyone else here.

SO THERE!

Sort of like a cross between Metroid and Bioforge, then, Cornjob?  Interesting...

This ten minute Batman movie -

http://www.theforce.net/theater/shortfilms/batman_deadend/

It's rather well-done, if a little silly; it could have used some dialogue polish, but, meh - wattayagonnado?

Female superior officers in Star Trek are addressed as 'sir'.  Thus, the argument is won.

The Rumpus Room / Re:Haiku maybe help?

Gen Gen conflicted;
Oldies boast maturity;
Harmony ruined.

Hopeful horizon?
Solutions have been proposed...
But is outlook grave?

Once friendly forum,
divided into factions;
The dumb and the smart.

Still active forum,
Jetisoned from existence;
Simply thrown away.

Options seem quite dire;
Neither would be pleasant;
Does a third exist?

Yes, indeed it does.
These haikus came far too late;
The best I could do.

This all sounded poo;
Opinion obscured by structure;
Bang goes my two cents.

Does this mean that you have 'made AGA's aquaintance' (*nudge* *nudge*, *wink* *wink*, say no more) in real life, then?

I once had an idea for an Exorcist game where you played the detective-type-person, and were investigating... stuff.

Oh, leave me alone; I had the idea when I was 11 and have only just remembered it.  JUST FOR YOU.

Enter the Matrix being one of those big games that failed to get 81%.  In fact i think it only got 61% or 71%, i forgot :P

Oh well, now Chrille can say his game is better than Enter the Matrix ^_^
65%, methinks - I recall that Red Faction and Hitman both scored in the 50s, as well (though with Hitman the reviewer was careful to mention that the game clearly had a lot of talent put into it, but was just so ludicrously unfair that it was impossible to rate it any higher).

There's also a Jackie Chan platformer game for the NES, the name of which escapes me at the time, but was pretty fun to play. My friends and I used to rent it all the time.
I just found a rom for it at www.oldgames.nu - 'Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu' is teh english title, though it appears that the Japanese version was just 'Jackie Chan'.

Something that PCG will almost certainly jump on is the fact that you mention getting stuck as eveidence of imaginative puzzle - they would pretty much be guaranteed to say that that could just be a sign of unfairness, so I suggest you evidence your point in a different way.

Nitpicking, though - it's a pretty darndiddly good letter, I've seen much worse make it into the mag (though it's perhaps a bit long).

There was a Jackie Chan game on the PSX (that's right, you heard me - PSX; none of this 'PSOne' bullpoo) - a rather poor beat 'em up, IIRC.

Oh, Flippy - while Secratary is a surprisingly good film (no, seriously - stop looking at me like that) and proof if proof need be need be (anyone who spots the amazingly obscure reference there gets a pie) that any genre can have a quality work made of itself, I fail to see exactly how the dicking hell you would extract a concept for a game out of it - care to elaborate?

Hehe, there's about 50 of those ;).

What surprises me is that what is overall a very positive review, they compare it to Gabriel Knight and Police Quest, and PCG UK are notorious for hating Sierra's point-and-clicks (though they love LucasArts - the last time a bought an issue which had a 'Best 100 Games EVER!'-type feature in it, GF was at no. 8, and DOTT, S&M, FOA and the MI games were all dotted around at fairly respectable positions - for a mag which mostly seems to favour emergent game design, that's most impressive indeed).  OK, so GK (the original, that is) is pretty much their only exception to this rule, but they certainly never seemed to like Police Quest.

Anywho - is this the current issue, Mostly?  I've been looking for an excuse to start buying it again (even though I hear Gillen has left) and this small box in one of the articles will do nicely.

Quote from: DGMacphee on Fri 11/07/2003 15:20:25I am very much the forum's local pervert.
You have no monopoly on perversion within this forum, good sir, and you are fully aware of this! I demand that you acknowledge my equally depraved anime schoolgirl fetish this very minute now!

I don't believe you - in fact, I demand proof.
