"Oh come one, Homey; Japan will be fun - you liked Rashomon"

"That's not how I remember it"

That's absolutely brilliant.  I don't remember that line though (no pun intended)...was it the one when they went on the crazy Japanese game show and so forth?
That's the one - 'Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo'.  It's actaully kinda odd that that should be one of my favourite Simpsons lines, as I actully think that that episode represents the point where the show really started to go downhill.

If anyone can come up with a good reason why multi-coloured x-ray fellatio should not win some sort of prize, I shall eat something that at least vaguely resembles a hat.  Like a hat cake*.

*NOTE: Hat cake not guaranteed to actually exist.

Well I would consider jail to be a form of rehabilitation (and of course protection for both the criminal and society at large) up to a point; once someone is no longer a danger to neither himself nor anyone else, then they should not be in jail - but many (probably) criminals are held for much longer, and the only 'reason' provided is that it is punishment.

I'm one-hundred-and-ten-percent behind Rabbit, there; some people would say that punishment would detour a criminal from re-offending, but that's what rehabilitation is for.

Well, not that I wouldn't want to redden your arse, Modsay, I was saying that I agreed with that comment as it applied to the whole  'not cute' list.

Neon Genesis Evangelion -- Very philosphical series with big robots -- it doesn't take itself too seriously all the time -- And the characters have a lot of depth and feeling to them.
You forgot to mention the extremely depressing ending(s), but otherwise I'd agree.

Also, Trap, if you want something completely different visually I suggest you try Ebichu.

Before you get too obsessed, learn the difference between Manga and Anime :).
I'd just like to say, in Sasha's defence, that it wasn't actually her who started talking about anime...

If you can find it, "Play It Again, Sam" on the Speccy.
*IF* you can find it.
I actually had a copy of that, which I bought in a charity shop (I... er... went there to drop of some clothes... yes... clothes), but the Speccy I bought with it wouldn't bloody work, so I flogged the games on ebay and threw the ZX away.

That reminds me of an episode of Shooting Stars where the consolation prize was a crisp-bread  bible for each of the losing team members.

Well it was.

Quote from: OneThinkingGal on Fri 18/04/2003 00:19:39JMO tho, and I doubt the "red blooded males"(read horny) on any forum will agree. ;) Draw to your audience if you like, but a true artist can make a gorgeous drawing or painting without sticking in suggestive women.
I don 't think it's about drawing for one's audience, it's about drawing for one's self - if Neole happens to want to draw scantly-clad women impaled on other scantly-clad women's swords, then draw scantly-clad women impaled on other scantly-clad women's swords he should do.  Similarily, if Annie were to have the inkling to draw David Caruso wearing nothing but hotpants, then she should go right ahead.  I'd say that the same should apply to all artforms, in fact (though in reality it often doesn't).

It's X the TV series -- I'm not all that enthused about it actually because it's hard to keep track over long periods.
Well I guess I can understand that - but either way, it still has a great soundtrack and some nice pseudo-religious imagery (except for that pentagram thing, that was just cheap).

Quote from: DGMacphee on Thu 17/04/2003 16:25:42I like She -- It has some decent character development. True, the missles coming out the back are a little silly, but I've heard the ending is a real tear-jerker.
Well, I've only watched the first three episodes so far (and I did love the first one), so I can't really judge too harshly.  I just have a long-standing grudge against GONZO (the animation studio) for making that gawd-awful Hellsing.

Quote from: DGMacphee on Thu 17/04/2003 16:25:42And the Englush title for that anime is "Jungle wa Itsumo Hare Nochi Guu" -- see it cause it's a side-splitting cack!
Dear Lord.  I just watched the first episode, and have come to the following conclusions:

1) You are completely mad, and I fear for my safety (yes, it took me this long).
2) 'Hee' is the best name for a bird ever.
3) I AM going to have nightmares about that opening sequence.
4) Why does this fansub translate the first line of the opening song as 'make love, boys and girls'?  I know that isn't really a conclusion, but still, I wanna know.
5) 'Hee' is the best name for a bird ever.

Thanks heaps for the reccomendation.

Blar! Hamtaro!! I've seen about 30 seconds of that show and I could probably come up with 10 reasons why I hate it off the top of my head!

In which case, see Ebichu.

Seriously, do.

Is that X the movie or X the TV series, DG?  The movie is kinda meh, but I love the series almost as much as... some... other... stuff... I... like.   She, The Ultimate Weapon is quite good, too, though it does get a wee bit silly at times (missiles dropping out of her back, etc.).  Also, next time they change one of the series, try to get them to show 'Haibane Renmei' - a recent favourite of mine, I think you may like it.

BTW, I've never seen 'The jungle whatsit whatsit' - do you know  what the japanese title is?  I'll see if I can get hold of a copy.

I caught it out with a mahjong tile - not in it's database, apparently.
