Thanks guys! The good news is the response has been magnitudes greater than the initial Itch.io release. I think I have requests for Neofeud keys for review from about 40 different countries at this point!

To that end, would anyone be interested in doing some AGS community translations? I have never done a translation before, although I have finally figured out how to get a .TRS file of the game.

If anyone is interested please let me know, as I barely remember any of the Spanish and Japanese I took in college, let alone Polish, German, Italian, Korean, French... and countless others!  Thanks in advance. :)

@Blondbraid & Cassie: Haha, yes that's pretty much what I was going for here.

@Selmiak: Yeah, but then again, it is supposed to be work-in-progress! :) But yeah I gotta go back and handle that later.

Neofeud has a hardboiled protagonist, and it's neo-noir set in a science fiction universe! :D

Anyone interested in being on the Silver Spook podcast let me know! :D  I will probably be doing a solo-video-essay type thing this coming week in between handling Neofeud's Steam release, but would love to chat with some indie developers.

Here's the latest stream where I'm working on this piece, as well as talking indie game business, asset flips, why buying 10 monstertrucks, two houses and three yachts is stupid and you should instead spend it on funding more indie game projects, and more!

These guys were Linux users, however I've had other Windows users run into these problems as well, on the higher-resolution, newer displays.

It seems like it might be an issue of the 1366x768 resolution then... If so, is there an easy way for them to get the game to fill up the screen in fullscreen mode, without having to change the whole game to a new resolution?  You said "max round scaling" will make their game window really small, is there another setting they could use?

If I had to change the game's resolution, what would be a resolution that would be able to run in fullscreen easily for most or all high res displays?

Folks did get the game running in windowed mode, yes, but many still wanted to get it to fullscreen.

Thanks for the help!

Has anyone encountered this issue at all, by chance? It could be the resolution of the game itself, I suppose...

This week I kinda did a livestream / podcast hybrid. The topic?  The scourge of asset flipping that harms gaming and *actual* game developers, Unity, Unreal, and various game engines, robotic mommies, and why it's not all fun and sun living in Hawaii.

Just did an interview with David Cameron! And next week, I'll be Twitch livestreaming with Satan!

Oh wait, wrong one!  David from OneUpGaming was a real cool guy, writer, and gaming Youtuber to talk to and has a really kickass set of gaming tattoos on his right arm. ;)  We talk about Neofeud, the state of the game and indie game industry, and more!

Hi guys, I've been having a lot of testers report issues with fullscreen mode in 1080p and higher resolution monitors and I was wondering if this was common or if there is some way to fix this?  Here's a couple of the reports:

QuoteAlso as I am running a dual monitor setup for whatever reason Allegro decided to change the resolution of both monitors to 1600x1200 and display the game on them both. On one monitor which is a 4k display it was severely cut off, so I think there might be some display related issues. If there was a way to easily run it in window mode that would be helpful, as I didn't see an option in my brief look on the settings. It also didn't try scaling up the 1366x768 so it was in a little window on my 1080p monitor. For reference I am running an AMD Fury under the latest open source drivers. Here is the log output for that run: https://pastebin.com/Bz6GSKD3 . Another thing to note is that upon quitting the game it didn't reset the desktop resolution to what it was set to before, so had to manually reset my monitor positions and sizes.

QuoteUsing 1080p I lose 1/4th of my screen (on horizontal and vertical). I really hope this wasn't intentional, because I really dislike even games that don't have full proper scaling (maximizable window, borderless fullscreen, etc)... not even supporting 1080p (which--according to steam survey--is on half of all single-monitor computers... and 33% of multi-monitor computers) is even worse.

Alt-tab and alt-f4 don't work which is another annoyance.

My game Neofeud is in 1366 x 768 for reference.

Cool Neofeud article on IndieGamer.eu!

If You Love Blade Runner, Deus Ex And System Shock, Don't Miss 'Neofeud'

QuoteNeofeud is a great looking game and i don't know why but for me the best way to describe it is this line from Deus Ex: Human Revolution :

” How often have we chased the dream of progress, only to see that dream preverted? More often than not, haven't the machines we built to improve life shattered the lives of millions? “

It's always nice to be compared to Deus Ex. :)

The 'First 30 Minutes' video is fine. It's his Youtube channel and I'm just happy to have some coverage of Neofeud! (It's a somewhat long game for the genre, I guess, so I understand.)

There are some game sites that you can submit reviews to. If nothing else, you can rate and write a review of Neofeud on the Steam store page, when it's out!

EDIT: Also, does anyone here have Linux and like to help me test Neofeud on Linux? I'd like to release a Linux Steam version but only have access to Windows machines. Thanks in advance!

Alphadalekben: Thanks for spreading the word about the Neofeud Steam release, and sure, if you could post about it on Facebook that would be appreciated!

No problem Mark, thanks again for having me on your Augfest TV livestream, it was a real pleasure, and a lot of fun! I liked what you did with all of the interesting segments, like Key Cat, the theater, and the choose-a-door game. (Even if Pablo and I both lost it!)

I figured I owed you as much for helping me out during the somewhat daunting process of bringing my first game to Steam, sorting out achievements, and lots of other critical indie game issues I needed to get right for the Neofeud release that I was pretty clueless about.  This was all really invaluable advice and would've taken me much time to sort out, which I didn't have.

I look forward to the next Augfest event, with the makers of Lorelai. :)

And just a quick reminder to everyone:

Neofeud is on sale for just two more days!

Pick it up now so I can pay for some advertising with the adventure game sites when it comes out on Steam! :)

RE: No one to talk to about first person shooters: I started out gaming, and game dev, in first person shooters, and only recently immigrated to point-and-click country. :)  (Made Half Life 1, Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex mods, etc.)  I play all of Doom 1 and Doom 2 at least once a year.
