Sorry if it's somethings it's been answered before, I searched for an answer but game speed related issues that have already been posted seemed kind of irrelevant.
So, i've created a game in my Quad CPU computer using the default 40 cycles per second and, as far as i can tell, there is consistency (4o cycles equal to 1 second). It is very important for me because i have some scenes in game that need to be in sync with the music played in background.
The problem occured when i tested my game using my laptop (i3 core) and a friend's of mine laptop as well (i3 core too). Game was running slower and music was out of sync. It is not a performance issue, since increasing game speed had the desirable effect (music in sync at laptop but out of sync at desktop since it was running very fast). To sum up, it seems to me that when using laptop the "40" value of SetGameSpeed is interpreted differently for some reason :/ OS is windows 8.1, while desktop's is windows 7. Game used direct 3d, not direct draw.
I've seen similar questions posted here, but in my case we are talking just for the default, normal game speed that shouldn't be a problem for any computer.
So any ideas guys?

e.g.: for example, while playing the game in my laptop, i noticed that the transition effect (dissolve) takes longer to be completed.

Guys I can't believe it.. :(

I pressed "run without a dubugger" option, and suddenly my computer crashed :( Black screen, keyboard wasn't responding. I reboot and entered Windows normally.
And then I was terrified to realise that when i couldn't load my game from AGS editor.. it shows this error..

"Unable to read the user preferences file. You may lose some of your Preferences settings and may not be able to access Source Control.

The error was: Root element is missing"

I pressed OK and then this error occured:

If you cannot resolve the error, please post on the AGS Technical Forum for assistance.

Then i just can't load my game.

It means so much to me this game.. i wanted to give it as a present... I am so frustrated i hadn't kept any recent backup... days and countless hours of work seem to be wasted :( Is there any way to fix this? Anything that could be done? I can't describe how much grateful i would be.

Hello guyz, it's been a while..
I encounter a problem when a character moves or an object.. doesn't take place a "smooth" movement, it seems a bit "shaky" and the image of object/character gets blurred.. i haven't any animations, just a single image for "view" of each character. Has it to do with display frequency and am I able somehow to adjust this within the game? In general settings i've set 32bit true colour and 800x600 but i doubt this creates a problem, given the advanced technological improvement of today's computers (quad processor, good video card)
Sorry if that's a noob question, i haven't used AGS for a while..

Which sequel do you find most exciting; Myst has fantasting ridhles and marvellous surrounding, but Syberia is very touching, it can make you burst into tears. Which one would you prefer???

I am Christian Orthodox, but long time ago, i was searching things (not for learning to do them, i just wanted to learn what they tell and what is their philosophy) that had to do with spitirualism, white magic e.t.c.
Ã,  Now, after some research, i decided that all these Spirits, Astral Projection, Communication with Dead People, White Magic e.t.c. haven't any truth inside them and maybe they are supported by dark forces (black magicians e.t.c.).
Ã,  I do not want to insult anyone, all the above are totally personal beliefs. That's why i posetd this letter, i would like to hear your opinion. :)

I imported Greek Fonts. And  started writting are messages using greek characters. But when i tested the game, i noticed that fonts were invisible to the game, except characters , . ;  but if i write the texts with english characters, they will be translated to greek characters in the game.
  Please tell me, is any way to write my messages using Greek characters in AGS editor but to appear well in the game (as Greek fonts and not invisible)?

I wanted to know if there is any way to compile video files to the final .exe file. That in my opinion would be a good idea, perhaps if it's not possible, it can be made to other version of AGS. It isn't so nice that player can see all the video files that normally have to see at specific suitable time in the game.

I wonder, is it any way to convert .avi files into .flc or .fli?

Hail to all of you AGS users.

Well, to the first room of my game to "After character fade in" at the interaction editor, i've placed the script command PlayVideo("LogoMain.avi",0,1). But when i test the game, it gives an error that says:

in Room 1 script (line 6)
Error: Can not display message with exteded character in SCI font.
Ã,  (Accented characters, for example german e\a\u letters can not be used by default. You need to import a TTF font to do so.)
Ã,  But what has a font to do with a video file? It sounds strange to me. I have placed video file to the main game's file folder.

Anyway, thanks for your time. Something else: What does it mean one "BIP" of computer's speaker? High temperature?

postscript: Oh my friends, you can not imagine how much hard and difficult are the exams for entering to university here in Greece! Even a Wizard finds that his spells and wizardry will be put to a great test. I wish none of you will have to pass such times of agony and fear as i passed this period (luckily all went well at last).

You know, i have considered a lot the matter of creating 1st person adventure games. This brings me in mind a marvellous magnificent adventure game, which is called "Black Dahlia". The atmosphere of see only what the hero sees, creating the illusion that you can move in a 3-d environment, is something exciting, isn't it? I would like to hear your opinions about how many are AGS's advantages to this side of game developing.
  Well, i have personally created a 1st person adventure game using AGS. It is called Soul Release, it has simple graphics, you can't turn the camera to any direction (view is "static") but it is a good first start. I will post it to the forum soon (if i can find where to upload it!). The basic idea was that player can go to one view to another by clicking a spesific icon on the screen.

It was a peaceful night. Suddenly, a great storm of thunders came upon Silver Wizard's Tower. And guess what: My modem broke down from that!
My computer had been turned off, but due to the modem was connected with the telephone's plug, it was damaged by high voltage.
Ã,  So, as a Wizard i recognise my mistakes, and i recommend you: During storms or thunder (or during whatever the Dark Powers send to you) ALWAYS disconnect your modem from telephone's plug. Personally, i stayed out of Internet for months (now i have created a new modem with anti-magic protection)

I found some soundfonts that i wanted to improve my sound card's midi sounds.
I have SoundBlaster PCI 128.
Does anyone knows where should i put this soundfonts in order to be available to programs like Finale 2000?

Hello users of AGS
I bought recently a Siemens CX65 and a data cable to connect it with my PC.
Do you know from where can i download (free!) a good software, that transfers data between the phone and the PC?  (I know that the data cable has a cd with a software driver, but for some reasons i can not deal with it)

I know this question hasn't to do with AGS, but it is very important to learn how to do at last this connection!

My problem is a bit strange.

I have created some custom function and i have put them to the top of my Global Script. Well:
  function do_something() {
     //some code
     do_this();
     }

Do_this is an other custom function that i created. Well, when i do something like this (when i running a custom function via an other custom function), AGS engine gives this error: Error, the problem was in Main Script: Already referenced name as import.

Thanks for your help.

EDIT: Well, there is more! Now sometimes it gives an error when i create custom functions and tells the same things! It is a bit  madding

I just wanted to know if i can create a .gif file via a .bmp one.
I mean, i have a flag that waves (animation) and it is in .gif format.
How can i create something like this? Can i do it with Microsoft paint program?

I made a gui called INTRO, and i have inserted this code (edit script  gui's window).

Where do_dance() is a function that i made.

The problem is: When i go to test my game, it gives an error:
        "There was an error compiling your script. The problem was in main script.  Error(Line 80):  Already referenced name as import"

After that, when i click yes (i want to fix the script) it goes me to the Global Script, where is my function do_dance().

I can't understand why is this happening. It happens ONLY if i insert the code that i mentioned before. (Gui script).

I would like to know if there is a "Go to" script command that i can use to AGS script editor, like this that Basic and Visual Basic have (and other languages).
   
I mean, to do something like:

I have seen so many messages that have as a subject  generally the same question: How can i create a battle system with AGS?
Well, i tried to create a battle system, which you can check by downloading the file. It is not a game, it is a Demo which shows how will work my Battle System.
  Well, it turn-based and a bit text-based. Text-based means that you type before your turn commands, to make clear what you want to do (e.g. use magic, fight with sword e.t.c.). In this Demo, only one command is available: Sword (This you can type only). Before i start creating a game with this Battle system, i would like to hear your opinions. Send me personal messages or even better post your opinion to this topic.
   Graphics are very poor, because i made this Demo only to show the  thinking of my Battle System.

Note: Sometime Life indicator doesn't respond immediately.  Do not be upset, in every case, what the indicator last show, this will be the right. There isn't any bug on that, it is just a matter of scripting.

I was wondering if there is a way so standard messages  (for example messages that appear with an Display() script command) do not dissappear so fast. 
   I can see a global variable that does that to the speech                                 ( game.text_speech). Is there something like that for messages? Or a way to set a "style" for the messages  (dissolve, cross-fade e.t.c.)?
