Thanks, everyone.  I would definitely love to do a Guitarman collection sometime...but much sooner I'd like to find a newspaper that would actually run the things on a weekly (or daily) basis.

I could keep up, and I have enough of an archive now that I can even afford to fall behind at times.

But I wouldn't know the first thing about getting them into a periodical.  Maybe I'll drop by the local newspaper office and see if they'd do anything for me.

Something tells me, though, I'll need to find a pretty progressive paper if they're going to run Guitarman.

My next game (but not another Larry Vales installment--sorry Aushor) is actually finished.  It's just a matter of troubleshooting and working out the bugs.

Not all of them, though.  Half the personality of my games comes from the bugs.

School ends for me after today, so I'll be able to devote a lot more time to getting it together.  I'll be sure to update you when I have...something to say.

The paper will be really short.  Just mention that everybody hangs out here just to see me pop up every five months and exercise psuedo-wit.

Then we all go back to asking who Yahtzee was and accidentally posting links to pornography.

In honor of http://www.phil-reed.com reaching its one-year anniversary, AND in honor of HER LIFE WILL BE SET TO MUSIC reaching #44 on the best-seller list at Amazon in March (thanks so much for you support!) I've given the ol' website a major makeover.

More content, and it's much easier on the eyes now.

And for the true enthusiast, there are 6 more (count em!) Guitarman adventures for the family to enjoy.

Let's shoot for #42 next month.  =)

I agree that Kochanski was no (repeat:  NO) replacement for Rimmer...and she was annoying in a lot of series VII...but I didn't mind her in series VIII at all.

Of course, I also didn't see a necessity for her to be there at all...and she didn't add much to the show for me...but she wasn't a hinderance so long as Rimmer was back.

And Kryten's character is back to normal...right?  "Krytie TV" was hilarious. =)

And I have to agree with Dark Stalkey that series VI was damn near perfect (if for Rimmerworld and Out of Time alone), but my picks for the best are series V, and then series II.

I also love how he points out that the devious Michael Moore edited out Charlton Heston's comments that there would be fewer festivities at the Littleton meeting, which some people might find confusing.

What a cad!

Obviously Heston cancelling his "pin the buckshot on the deer" competition makes things a lot better.

What people need to realize is that Moore's film is just that--a film.  He can't include absolutely everything if he's going to have it fit into a 2 hr block.  Cuts are made for the sake of brevity, relevance, and clarity.

And if that means excising something insignificant in the middle of somebody speech...so be it.

Well, over the past few nights I made my way through my Red Dwarf series VIII videos (the prison series, for anyone who doesn't go by roman numerals), and I'm confused.

I remember a while back in one of the Vales threads, somebody commented that it was "unfortunate" that I used the Rimmer from series VIII in LVII, because series VIII was junk...or some similar adjective.

The thing is, though, I watched the videos this time through TRYING not to like it...TRYING to see what was wrong with it...thinking maybe I only liked it because there was such a big gap since series VII...

But I really loved it!  I think it's pretty amazing, hilarious stuff with some of the best dialogue the show's ever produced...so why is the overall opinion negative?

I know series VII didn't go down very well, and I understand why.  A lot was missing.  Rimmer.  Holly.  An audience.  etc.  I enjoyed it, but can see why it would have turned people off.

But...what turned people against series VIII?

I read up to the bit about the NRA.

Whoever wrote this article didn't pay very close attention to the movie.  The fact is that Michael Moore allowed the people he interviewed to reveal themselves for what they really were.

Was I the only one who felt very sorry for Tim McVey's brother when he was interviewed, saying how his life had changed because of Tim's action and how everybody thinks he's a psychopath now?  Michael Moore LETS us feel pity for him..and then lets him demonstrate (on his own) that yes, he is indeed a psychopath.  If anything, Moore misleads us into pitying the man at first!

But about the NRA...it says the Bowling for Columbine made it appear that Heston and the rest RUSHED to Littleton after the tragedy, when actually it was an event scheduled very far in the past.

Well...the movie isn't misleading.  The movie said SPECIFICALLY that it was pre-scheduled, and Moore's gripe about callousness came about them not rescheduling or moving the meeting.

The film wasn't misleading...somebody should write an essay about how this essay was misleading.

"Commenced" means "begun."

You probably mean concluded.

Or diluted, if you intend to stir it into a big glass of water.

Which I do!

time is constructed of units such as hours, minutes and seconds.  Jerry forgets to bring his watch aboard the ship so the pirates taunt him by counting the hours minutes and seconds whenever Jerry is within earshot.  When he sleeps, he dreams of his mother being sodomized by a jackyl.  Meanwhile...

Jerry learns that in a very ironic twist, tax men do NOT in fact rule the planet "Taxmen rule!"  It is, rather, run by insurance agents, but Jerry learns soon afterward that this isn't ironic at all because insurance agents are called Taxmen on the planet "Taxmen rule!" and therefore the irony stems entirely from Jerry's incurable ethnocentrism.  Also Jerry tries to pee and blood comes out.

Mars explodes and Jerry Cherry (for the surname of Jerry is indeed Cherry) is propelled very, very far into the deepest of space where he still doesn't die because Jerry Merry Cherry (for the middle name of Jerry Cherry is indeed Merry hence the situation of Merry snugly in between the surname of Cherry and the affectionate shortening of his christian birthname Jerry) is indestructable.

While floating in netherness Jerry composes a sonnet that begins with the word "meanwhile"...
